- AI War Fleet Command is an RTS game that doesn't play by most RTS rules. It's one of those games you need a wiki to really get an understanding of but once you do that, you might find a fairly fun game that only tortures you slightly.

I love this game. It got it just a few days after its launch on Steam, and one of my 1st five ever Steam games! It took me a couple tries to get into it, the tutorial used to be worse, you used to have metal an crystal mines but no hacking, and like you say here, not the easiest game to get a hang of, but I was rewarded with a rich, fun game that has so many options that it's overwhelming.
Side note on the eyes, if you turn the difficulty down, the eyes won't appear. I think they start at 6 or 7, so for new folks trying it on 5 or lower, you'll not have to deal with them. The game really let's you tweak the difficulty and extra factions to a crazy degree, so you can really personalize the experience.

the AI after you triggered its trap: "I'm going to do what's called a pro gamer move"
should have added a mention of that.. the AI can be really smart and agressive depending on difficulty setting. I won't hesitate to wait for your main fleet to leave your base to hit your defenses.. and rush past them to murder your HQ. It doesn't just have numbers, it has smarts too
