Covert Cabal I wouldn’t be surprised if you use this game, it’s predecessor, and armored brigade both as database references and in your own videos. Totally not off topic for your channel. Honestly this game is always in the back of my mind when I watch your content.
This one in particular is very much so worth it. educational and easy to pick up. if you open the “start game” mode and select the “air tutorial” story, it’ll introduce you to the gameplay in a sandbox scenario and slowly introduce the mechanics at your own pace. It’s not a developer tutorial, it’s a community member’s custom tutorial. you’ll also get a sense of what the previous game made you do manually that this one does automatically because the tutorial was made for the previous game. if oyu don’t see the window or options that the tutorial messages suggest, it’s because the new game updated it. it should be reminded that the tutorial is made by a community member and not the game devs. the level of detail is staggering when you consider the windage effects on your missiles, the levels of damage two identical rockets can have on two identical targets can be ever so slightly different. and considering that the game is simulating actual soldiers in their respective roles, with programmed AI like self-preservation and different levels of skill, the game is much more friendly to people who have trouble with RTS games. It doesn’t ‘feel’ like an RTS after a while. It really does feel like you’re watching a graphical representation of actual combat and that’s what really makes it shine!
Ever since I discovered your videos, OSINT has become my forbidden hobby. I've tagged every single Russian and ex Soviet air Base on Google maps, I learned about the Russian raliway ICBM's, discovered NORAD's bunkers in Canada and discovered as much as I can of this unspoken world. I study Physics, and so my mind has used to be attracted by challenges. This game presents me with such a vast playground of multivariable actions & reaction that my mind asks for it. I'd love to play the game and put myself to the task of carrying out tactics and strategies that test my limits This game would become my addiction!
Owen Major as well as strategic side. Coordination of strategic assets and its tactical affects on an operation, satellite over flights, etc., time between sorties, etc.. it’s an incredible simulation.

Dear Cabal, I am a defence technology enthusiast and have been watching your videos for a long time. Being a mechanical engineer working in this area, I claim I have information above average about the field but every time I watch your videos i learn new things and this video is also not an exception. Even though I searched for this kind of a simulation, haven't seen this game before. Thank you for showing this game. I will damn make sure i play it a lot and it would be even better if I can get a code. Have a nice day!

So i saw this video a few months back shortly after it was posted and checked out the game on steam. Damn, this looks really cool. My job has recently started getting more involved with military research some of my friends are involved in the military as well and it would be nice to be able to understand the capabilities of the systems involved. Playing with this could provide some insight into how practical or impractical some of our ideas might be.
I only just spotted this on your channel; so glad I did! I used to love the old "Harpoon" game, and this looks like a worthy successor. Heading over to Steam to buy it right now! Thanks again, CC!
Wow this seems right up my alley. I always go to Google earth and look up stuff I hear on the news about conflicts and this seems like a waaaay cooler way! Great video
This is super cool! I am very familiar with the game Harpoon. It is a very similar type of game, but much older. I really miss playing it. Actually was a beta tester back in the day. But this game seems way more modern and has an updated feel, based on your video. I need to pick up a copy and try it out. Thank you so much for doing this video. Great insight.
1. It varies. 6 hours - 3 days is pretty typical, but there's no hard-coded limit. You could make a scenario last several months if you wanted to. 2.The official database is 1946-2035, IIRC, although there are several units from WWII included, as well as some hypothetical units (A-12, F-19, etc).
This game is one of the greatest simulation-games I’ve ever played. I love this baby. It’s a real ball buster. And it is indeed a simulation to the core.
I've never understood how they did all that research into all the different weapons and weapons platforms. That is probably the most amazing thing of this 'game'

I've owned CMANO for quite some time, and I never really could get into it. I saw that they brought out this new version of it and I keep looking back and forth at it, seeing that gnarly discount, and with me having been playing DCS almost religiously lately, it's made me want to get into the series again. I redownloaded CMANO earlier and I've been slowly learning my way through it, trying to get something done. I'd love to experience it with an updated engine, especially after learning to make missions in DCS. I'm unsure if I'll get one of these codes, but I would be absolutely ecstatic to receive one. This game looks awesome, I already see the dozens of hours I would spend in the database and trying different scenarios from the past in the editor. Strategy games are really my favorites and would definitely enjoy this, I spent hours on wargame red dragon which is less complex than this one, but highly incorporates strategy as well. Also you are one of many sources I follow to keep up-to-date with the world military affairs so having this database to my disposal would take me to the whole new level. Keep up with the amazing videos 👍
This game looks so frickin cool honestly I have no idea how I haven’t discovered this already. Thank you so much for bringing this awesome game to my attention!
Hey I've been playing CMANO for a couple years now between classes. I have over 1000 hours in game. I love this game because it gives you a perspective of modern operations through the eyes of what a combatant Commander would see. I served as a Combat Engineer in the Canadian Forces but this games gives me a broader perspective of Combat Operations. If you would like to send me the game it will definitely get good use from me :) Thanks again for the great video !
I discover your channel today. I was looking do decide i would by it or not. I already have the original game and I like it. Wining a code to have the game will be great! When are you picking the name? Any ways good luck to all participant.
Dude the game legit combines everything I want. But mainly the strategic and tactical gameplay, it's not like click here and there and win, it's a game where you plan out your moves. Everything you do has a significance, it's something I would imagine myself playing every day
This is an excellent review. I think you captured the essence of what makes CMO with Tacview Advanced such a great product for a military sandbox. I have attached LGM-30 launchers on a satellite, or because the game runs in real time, setting up a Cessna Civilian plane flying towards a restricted area and then launching 2 F-15s with Afterburners gives you a very accurate idea of how quickly this situation would resolve I purchased it with a discount because I owned CMANO and the Holiday Tacview Advanced Sale Bundle was hard to pass up. Tacview does give an appreciation for the AI evasive maneuvers and does add a worthwhile element for feeling a connection to your units when you can see them flying towards a target on a strike run.I think this review captured the best parts of the sim in an easily digestible size with interesting examples. Well done!
I would really love to play this game! I have always been really interested in military strategy and simulation games like this and this game looks leagues ahead of the other stuff I've found online! great video as always man!
Thanks for the review! I have played a lot of CMANO and spent even longer watching every video I can on various aspects. This has been on my wishlist for a while and I would love to snag a copy if you have any left to see the new sim in all its glory! As you said when you throw in the community tutorials and scenarios on top of the DLC (I own them all) you will never run out of things to do. Thanks again for raising awareness of this gem!
This has me really excited! Been a military hardware fanatic since childhood, and spent many an afternoon playing/tinkering with CMANO, especially making missions from the Soviet perspective. Would love a key if you'd be willing, as I don't have much income these days. Regardless, it's kind of you to offer; and thank you for the review!
Man I've been waiting for an update to this game. Very cool that you covered this. Also have you thought about giving out a game code or two on Patreon? If I win a copy I'd play the hell out of it only stopping for your videos ;)
Already spent hours just reading that database, I'd really love to play this new one. I've been watching CMANO videos for a year now and this new one looks awesome !
I've always enjoyed Command: Modern Air Naval Operations, I even bought the Chains of War expansion as well. It is very exiting to see the new Command game. I'd definitely be interested in playing the new Modern Operations. Also love your videos, been watching them for awhile now.
Hi! I would like to try the game, too! I've had presented several times the conflicts of the middle east and you were my primary source about weapon technology. Great video! Keep up the good work! ;)
I have been playing CMANO for a couple of years and would love to have this game. I’m actually planning on buying it at some point. But my wife would love it (and the money I save!) if I could get it for free! This was an awesome explanation and I really hope the community grows because of it!
Hey @Covert Cable I've been really wanting the original for years but never bought it since its too expensive. I really enjoy your videos and looking up in depth the specifics and nuances of warfare, both historically and now. Thank you for making these videos and I was thinking about doing something similar focusing on UK military hardware since you tend not to cover that (and I am from the UK). Would really appreciate a code, but either way, thanks for this review! And of course for all the content you put out (and for not being biased). Hope you have a good day.
Saw this on Steam and thought it looked really interesting. Checked RUclips and your vid was the first that popped up, and I have to say, given that I do tend to really like in-depth and complex strategy/tactical games, this is definitely one I could see myself sinking a lot of hours into. That being said, code or not? This game at least lead me to your channel and I am going to probably binge quite a bit here!
The game seems to be really interesting. A lot of strategy and carefully planned maneuvers. Reminds me a bit of Advanced Tactics Gold. If you do videos about any weapon system, radar etc. You could use this program to give visual presentation of it's capabilities. Very nice video sir!
Was not expecting a video like this to come from you but I can't think of a content creator I follow who isn't more suited to it. Stumbled across this franchise on forums and had my eye on it since But the £60 is very much out of my price point would appreciate your consideration. Be a refresher since I mainly play Gary Grigsby's war in the east
I dono if the word 'play' applies to something like this. I'm not sure if I'd even call it a game. It's more like an interactive encyclopedia with scenario simulations or something. Way over my head
I would really love to try this game out! I was always in search of a game that, well, simulates all that. So as a Fan of Military Engagements all over history and simulations, if there is still a key, i would really appreciate it to get on. Thanks for the cool video btw! Have a great day :)
Living in a NATO country very close to Russia there are about a million different scenarios I'd like to try out for this game, this would be awesome to try. Love your videos, one of the only channels I've turned on the bell not to miss any uploads.
I have a degree in Politics and International Relations amd focus mostly on conflict and causes, this is actually the only ever time I've been interested in a give away and I'd love to see how different systems respond to different attacks and terrains
Definitely not your usual subject matter, but thank you for a succinct yet in depth review. I'd love to give the new version a try. I've loved this line of games all the way back to the Ticonderoga days.
With all the comments out there, I hope this one gets noticed, despite me being so late. I've been really hooked to Wargame Red Dragon for a while now and my friend told me about CMANO, and i've been wanting to try it ever since. Just watching videos about it always seems to grab my attention, and just by looking at it, I feel like CMANO/CMO is going to be a very big but worthwhile jump from Wargame. I don't expect myself to still be lucky enough to get the codes, but if I do, i'd be really grateful.
haven’t played too much CMANO but i’ve played the Northern Inferno Expansion. If I got a code for the game i’d play almost every day, love your videos. ALSO maybe now since this simulator has released you can run a simulation on the topics you are discussing in future videos and maybe even some requested old ones !
Before I've seen this I never thought a game can be so cool and realistic. I've played with hearts of iron 2 for about 2 years and always wanted to progress to the 21st century with realistic warfare. But now that I see that there is an actual game in which you can plan an attack against basically everything, I am both excited and afraid for the secret masterminds who will use this to plan an attack against a nation. Please use it as a tool in your videos
I have heard great things from the first CMANO and have been curious about it. Especially from the great things like The Archive it has that you have mentioned in Tac Ops. But man this is just so cool. That Archive alone would be worth the purchase from me, such great information in one source and collected from reputable sources. Tac View, the pure depictions of systems operations and how they work in operations. MilSim Nerd Fantasy come true. If only I had time and the patience for this game. Neither which I have anymore in abundance. But I look forward to what this can bring to the channel and what info can be gleamed from CMANO 2.
If there still a key available it would be super awesome to be able to give this game a go I've watched your video and a couple other videos from fellow RUclipsrs now about this game and have been super interested in giving it a shot. Great video and best of luck to everybody looking to also get a code.
Thank you for that departure from your usual presentation. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!! Especially the B-2 attack on Moscow!!! I am not a gamer by nature however this is a game I will seriously consider because it peaks my interest in all things military instead of those mindless dumb games that people play. Covert Cabal I find to be the best Military/Defense/Offense videos much better than "Defense Update". The narrator is excellent, highly knowledgeable and I love the theme music!!! Request I would like a video on the replacement of America's Minuteman lll's
Honestly, this game seems right up my alley. Perfect way to actively learn about various aircraft and weapons systems in an "operational" manner with a bit less sterile detachment than just poring through a Jane's article.
I would love the game! I sincerely enjoyed the CMNAO version and sadly haven’t been able to play that for a bit since my PC blue screened a while back fortunately I managed to get my new one up and running about a month ago. Best of luck and congratulations to whoever wins a code from you Covert. Lots of deserving people out there 🙏🏻 PS; I know you don’t do reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed this
This looks amazing. The amount of "What Ifs" you could make...Soviet Intervention in the Gulf War, China and the United States going to war in 2002 over the Hainan Island Incident...Pearl harbor 2.0 with the JMSDF... Reminds me of Tom Clancy playing out the scenarios in his early books with the Harpoon tabletop gaming system. I'd love to give this a spin some time.
That was an excellent review! I am in the Army and work in operations. This looks like something I could really really be into! Unfortunately I probably won’t have the spare cash to get it. Being a dad in a single income household leads to not much money being spent on boy toys or games these days :-/ Definitely looks like I would enjoy it and would be something I could do in my spare time Bc I seem to end up with a lot of down time while away from home. Im sure by now all the codes are gone but would be awesome to get access and see how this compares!
When you said: Air Combat to Air-To-Surface Combat, Submarine Combat, Ship Combat... it reminded me of Bubba from Forrest Gump about all the things you can do with shrimps. This game sounds very interessing and i would like to play it. Greetings from Munich!
I've been trying to get into Wargaming for a while now, but nothing so far has really stood out for me. CMO looks really sick, I would definitely give this one a shot!
Howdy CC! Thanks for the heads up on this game! Would love to try it out, it looks to be the ultimate in RTS type games for "real world" war gaming. I can see getting lost in this for many hours, not surprised you've logged over 2k hours!

2 Questions:
1. How long does a typical 'scenario' last? A day, a month, a campaign?

I never even knew this game existed, this looks like a ton of fun. I'd play it!
Seems like a fun game, definitely adding it to my wishlist.
Very good and informative video as usual.
I'm hyped for this. I've been waiting for a real time(ish) grand strat sim, didn't realize this was already around. Would definitely love to play
This looks really cool. I've added it to my wishlist on steam and will defiently pick it up. Thanks this is right up my alley
Sounds like a really cool game, I’m definitely gonna check it out. Love your videos
Man you should do that more often. Playing multiple scenarios...would be awesome. Really like your channel.
Super cool video! Would definitely give this a try, plus I wanna see if they have the JSTARS platform in it, and see how my jet is utilized in game!
I love the concept of this game but the bit that truly disappoints is that it is not multi-player.
I was expecting a video like this from you. Thanks for it
I've always enjoyed Command: Modern Air Naval Operations, I even bought the Chains of War expansion as well.
Wow - how have I never heard of this before?! Looking up more about it... already on my wishlist. Exactly what I want for xmas.
I'd love to give this game a try, love your videos!
I didn't even know something like this existed. Would be pumped to play this.
I dono if the word 'play' applies to something like this. I'm not sure if I'd even call it a game. It's more like an interactive encyclopedia with scenario simulations or something. Way over my head
@@jmarra07 yeah apparently they use this in the pentagon, its that detailed
Wow never new a game like this existed. I'm very glad you shared. Keen to give it a go.
Wow I’ve been looking for something like this for years, this is gold
Congrats on getting 200k subs!
This game looks incredibly interesting. Glad you brought this to my attention I have been looking for a game like this.
I would love to have a game. Love your channel. LWould love to test out this game to see the wildest scenarios. Thanks
I would be super excited to play! And a nice video.
I saw this game like a month ago and am loving the videos. this seams like a next level strategy game.
Excellent video, I just upgraded from CMANO to CMO. Gonna go try it now!
Also loved the video still. You're always making great content even if it is a review lol
haven’t played too much CMANO but i’ve played the Northern Inferno Expansion. If I got a code for the game i’d play almost every day, love your videos. ALSO maybe now since this simulator has released you can run a simulation on the topics you are discussing in future videos and maybe even some requested old ones !
That games looks awesome I look forward to playing it soon don't know if I will go for tac view but it is definitely on my stream wish list
Man this looks awesome. I'd love to try a game like this
I would love the game! I sincerely enjoyed the CMNAO version and sadly haven’t been able to play that for a bit since my PC blue screened a while back fortunately I managed to get my new one up and running about a month ago.
Best of luck and congratulations to whoever wins a code from you Covert. Lots of deserving people out there 🙏🏻
PS; I know you don’t do reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed this
This looks amazing.
Being a dad in a single income household leads to not much money being spent on boy toys or games these days :-/
Definitely looks like I would enjoy it and would be something I could do in my spare time Bc I seem to end up with a lot of down time while away from home.
Thanks for this. Sorry to hear that you will never make anything like this again. this is cool!
Howdy CC! Thanks for the heads up on this game! Would love to try it out, it looks to be the ultimate in RTS type games for "real world" war gaming. I can see getting lost in this for many hours, not surprised you've logged over 2k hours!
10:50 RIP Slava promoted to submarine.
