Relaxing is the worst thing I've ever done to my hair.

Well my mom chose to do that for me when I was 3, so I had no choice . Now I’ve been transitioning for 8 months no big chop ... but it’ll be okay .
I really wish I never relaxed my hair

I just recently cut my relaxed ends off and I love it🥰
My natural hair journey.
My mom used to relax my hair for a long time, I would still wear braids and would wear fake ponytails and stuff. I did this for a couple or years. I started off around age 4-6. I would not do it often though, fortunately. My mom then texturised my hair and stopped relaxing it, thinking it was better than relaxer. We did this for 2 years. Luckily, she decided to go let us go natural. It wasn’t too late so I didn’t have to cut off my hair. Most of my friends’ hairs looked longer than my hair because they continued to relax their hair making it go down, while I was stuck with a shortish Afro, they mocked me. I envied them, until the relaxer damaged their hair and they went natural so they cut off a lot of hair. They now envy my hair which is waay past my collarbone. *GO NATURAL, EVEN IF IT IS HARD*
Yaasssss! Karma got them back 😂, when I was 4-7 or older I’m not sure but when i was younger my mum used to texturise my hair and it would stay down but I think at some point (can’t remember what age) I was able to transition to my natural hair. One of my sisters cut their hair ( a big chop basically) and my other sister relaxes her hair so now during quarantine me and my mum are trying to grow our natural hair. ( that was a long paragraph no one asked for, meaning mine. 😂😅)
EDIT: she (my mum)used to trim mine and my sisters hair but then stopped I don’t know why though 🤔
My mom relaxed my hair since I was a kid. I still hate it, so I after some disagreements, she's finally letting my hair go natural and I really needed to know how to maintain natural hair.
How’s it going?
Damn how’s it going!! I’ve been getting it straightened since I was little and sadly only from the internet and it the out world, where is my Afro? (My hair is thick, but ends are straight) lol so I’m tryna let it grow too and get a cut
SAMEEEEE
It wasn't even my choice to relax my hair. My mom had started relaxing my hair from young, I never had a choice. Now I know how horrific relaxer is and I'm trying to get my natural hair back.
How is it now?
Me too
@@nikiweeze7057 fully natural now. I’m focusing on growing and managing it now.
Omgg I can relate sooo much
LITERALLY SAME
I’m trying so hard not to relax my hair 😭😭but my head keeps testing me
mother abigail just flat iron it. But FIRST, deep condition it
D. Joseph THATS TERRIBLE ADVICE. Just be patient girl . Pays off in the end
Recklezzbabee I agree with that more. Lol Patients
mother abigail Don't do it, trust me it's a mistake 😭 I had to let my shit grow out 😭
@@d.joseph98 if your transitioning dont put ANY heat in your hair and if you keep putting heat in your hair your hair will be straight permanently
We stan this natural hair growth and prosperity 🌻🌱
selina james ahh thank u beautiful ❤️
I love this video because when you showed the old pictures of you and how you tried to do a high puff, that was literally what my hair looked like when I tried to do it so I'm so ready to go back natural. Thank you so much for the tips❤️❤️
Your hair transformation is amazing! Thank you for making videos and helping people on their own journeys
I am so happy I found this channel, your hair type is the only hair I see on youtube that I can relate too... no "pretty hair" as they would say
..
I am actually thinking about this so much seeing how your hair is now I love it, it look so health and it brings out your face more, the texture is amazing and i am sure the length is too...
Why am I more concerned about the Glow up😍💕 like you really changed 🌟 I already did my big chop before watching this video😢😭
WE LOVE A NATURAL QUEEN
I love your energy and channel ! You’re so relatable ❤️
Thank you for this video! New subbie!
I’m currently transitioning to natural. I’ve been getting relaxers for 15 years now but Thank God my hairstyles kept my hair healthy!
I’m going natural starting today no more perms..my mom better gone and let me be...
Same! I was actually going natural in July, but she forced me to relax it :(
@@aichaadekunle4980 wow, ssme...i'm 13 and i was on my natursl hair journey for ab 3 months and my hair grew A LOT...then my mom permed it bc she didn't wanna deal with it😐
@@marleycymon3512 I know how you feel! It really sucks when that happens, but try to tell your mom that you seriously wanna go natural and that she shouldn't relax/perm it anymore & you'll take care of it YOURSELF. That's what I'm going to do, because my hair is absolutely damaged
Hows the journey?👀
aicha jalloh me too it wasn’t fully relaxed yet but then a party came up and i was forced to get keratin done again and I regret it cuz now whenever I shower my hair is basically straight I miss my curl s
I truly needed this video , I perm my hair because of same reason ( didn’t know how to care for it or style ) but after putting a perm I was so upset 😭 so this video is want I needed. Thank you 🙏🏾
You make me feel a little better now. I am only 3 months in and I'm wearing box braids right now. I'm scared because I've always had long hair with a perm, but also excited because I had such beautifully thick and long hair before my mom permed it. My hair is long, but also thinned quite a bit over the years from perms and I dont really get it trimmed. I want to go natura without cutting off my hair. Thank you for this video
I just saw this video (10 March 2019) and I want to try out everything you’ve said. I relax my hair every month but I’ve been wanting to go natural. maintaining natural hair seems like a lot but I want to try it . Thanks for the advice💕
Your hair is growing beautifully
Your hair is super pretty!!! 😍 I'm really enjoying your latest videos, they're very original!🌟
Lucía Monedero thank you so much, appreciate it! 💛💛
Hhh
You look soo amazing with natural hair sis 😍
# the 💯 th comment....Sophie you are my no.1 inspiration you've proven that it works and the natural journey is worth it for every black woman out here😘😊
I am currently transitioning and I was so against doing the big chop. This has been so helpful and comforting. I’m 8 months into it now, and I’ve been tempted to quit, coz it’s been so emotionally challenging. But this was great and I’m glad you shared this. Thank you. BTW you look amazing 😍
Hang in there I’m on the same journey
It's the emotional and frustrating state that made me take up the big chop decision. From Jerry curl to relaxer. My hair was a total mess. It will break so bad. I felt so sad.. needless to cry. I had a big chop few days ago. I feel safe. My hair was really damaged. I've lost my edges. I really want to grow back my hair so bad but this time naturally. Without the chemicals. I'm really hopeful this works great.
you look so good in this video! ahh im obsessed😍😍😍
Love this video! I transitioned myself as well and it was one of the best decisions I personally made 😭💪🏿
udacentral yessss! Natural is beautiful! ❤️
currently transitioning and searching for motivation all about lol, glad it waas rewarding :)
Great video! I wish that I had this knowledge when I was first going natural.
yass, you've done a great job with your hair. It's gorgeous!
Sincerely Timia thank you!! 💘
Your natural hair look so much better
oh my God you grew up on youtube. lol. great video
hhahahhahhaah!!! i know right. she literally did
This video is inspiring...finally a video that inspire me to do it ❤❤ thank you so much
Ive been relaxing since I was 6 years old. Switched to a children’s texturizer relaxer because it was not harsh and my hair was doing ok. When covid hit and I had to work from home I kept pushing back putting in my texturizer bc I was only at home and the store. Now it is almost 9months later and im still transitioning quite a bit. Its a challenge and my family isn’t very encouraging about it except to say cut it off or relax it bc you’re hurting your hair. Thanks for posting this video it encourages me. I want to make it to fully natural hair and see if that is for me
I just notice that a lot of those choosing to no longer chemically treat their hair treat relaxers as if its the worst thing ever (no judgement) I say that, because if the care and attention and products and TIME that goes in caring for kinky hair was applied to chemically treated hair the results would be the same. We can honestly say relaxers make us a little lazy b/c its easy but non-chemically treated kinky hair is a JOB and for some reason people are willing to put in the work. Just a thought...
Danièll Harber It’s not “for some reason”. The reason isn’t a mystery, it’s quite clear. People (like myself) are willing to put in the work in order to reach their goals. Hair is healthier without chemicals so no, the results “wouldn’t be the same”
I meam washing conditioning and retaining moisture is not the worat once you get the hang of it, especially if you do protective styles.
Yasss 4c hairrrr
Aisha YESS ❤️
IKR??? Now, THAT'S a RARITY, huh??? Her hair is beautiful!
Everything that you were saying Is relatable and could work for my hair
You've really just inspired me sooooo much❤️❤️

Simplybri thank you so much, and of course that’s an amazing idea! 💛
I loved this video especially because I have natural hair and I alway want to relax it but I alway reminder myself that it is still growing healthy. 💛💛💛
Awe thank you for watching! Relaxers are pretty controversial in the natural hair world. The decision is totally up to you but natural hair is awesome if u know how to manage it! Keep it strong & healthy ☺️❤️❤️
hey, my products for my transition is coming and im so excited

literallyLeasha I haven’t relaxed in a year, this is taking forever 😭
Same sis
any updates ?
Thando Manyathi It’s going well I my hair is thick and it’s flourishing I can do puffs now and everything 😭
@@leashamartin2007 well done !
My mom asked me if i want to relax my hair and I said yes. I wanted to relax it because I thought it would look longer and easier to manage and I always get jealous of people with long pretty natural hair. I relaxed it late last year, Its been like 3-5 times since its been relaxed, and I'm glad my mom isnt against me trying to go back natural. Now I want to go back natural and start my hair growth journey. (I kinda started it already, by putting aloe Vera in my relaxed hair and its been like more than a month using it) I've been taking care of my hair tho (at least that's what I think) I've been using the aloe, I deep condition my hair and moisturize it.
I’ve stopped relaxing my hair as of recently and it’s already grown quite a bit! I’m going to let it all grow out and then once it gets very noticeable I’ll cut off my relaxed hair! (AT A SALON- not by myself because dear god)
You have really given me hope..koz i had also actually curled my hair and it kips on breaking and am not realliy impressed with its growth rate bt now dat i have watched this i am happy...need more of ua videos 🤗🤗🤩😍
ur skin is beautiful..melanin queen
I did a big chop and was loose natural for several years. Now, I have locs.

I’m starting the transitioning process now. Wish me luck and I’m taking on any advice. No big chop just growing it out and trimming ends.
Thank goodness this popped up on my recommended page
I’m a year natural and I’ve never felt more free and happy
Your hair is not the only thing that transitions
That skin tho😍
Yr skin n hair looks fabulous
I wish i was actually given the option of keeping my natural hair i've done the big chop just today trying to make it natural again wish me luck:)
Wow your hair is so pretty
In transitioning for more then 1 year. And i don’t want to big chop either. My hair is not relaxed but it is damaged. My damaged hair is curling a LITTLE bit and it ha volume so in my opinion, i can transition easy and i love my hair but i just want to be natural! Soo yeah❤️❤️❤️
this video was so helpful so thanku for that! because me hair right is damaged and i want to go to natural hair
Being thinking of growing the natural hair, but just cut the relaxed upper part last month January 2020 and just braided on it. I was told mixing hard drug in your mositured cream help the natural hair grow fast
Wonderful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 love it when females wear their natural hair!
her glow up though
Girl you just got a new sub. Thank you so much, I want to transition but dont want to have a chop
So helpful
this look😍😭 i love the glo
LifeWithK'Lah thank you so much! ❤️
SO clear.. What are you recording with
I just relax my one year natural hair I swear I regret it so much 😭😭
same here
I agree 😫 I relaxed my hair after two years and I regret it
I never trim mine. I'm transitioning and it's growing beautifully. I will begin to trim ends slowly. I hate braids.
love your channel
You are absolutely gorgeous girl oh my 😍

My forehead has been my reason why i unwantedly relaxed my hair cus it was able to lay flat n cover my forehead but now i do wanna try NATURAL despite my insecurities with my long forehead
Good Job!!
I have always relaxed my hair I'm 12 now and my hair needs help this was so helpful thx😅
I finally decided to do natural today after relaxing my hair my whole liffe
How long did it take for the perm to grow out approximately?
I've been transitioning for about 4 years and it's the best thing I've ever done.
I totally agree with you that protective styles are the best. Crochet styles, braids, and wigs have been my besties.
I have seen so much hair growth since making this decision.
Can u recommend protective styles that don't involve braids?Cause I dont want the hassle of adding hair to braid. Am I able to just twist my hair even though it's relaxed?
hi dear i am having a hard time to keep my edges down at this moment i am transitioning too for over a year now, but i am very frustrated over my hair. please help me out here please.
Im transitioning and i only put my perm in 2 weeks ago, but it doing go as well as i wish i wouldve. Hopefully this journey goes well.
Thanks for the encouragement!
I have relaxed hair and I wear weaves and my hair is weak and damaged. I tried going natural a few years ago but my hair is 4c so I just gave up. My hair is so dry.
I don’t relax/ perm my hair anymore but my hair keeps cutting everytime I take off my braids what does that mean? Does it mean my hair is cutting only to my natural parts?
You look beautiful ❤️
I’ve always get the back of my hair trim to the scalp now it’s growing back and it’s natural so what do I do with the top and sides that’s still straight to get to Natural.
I just stopped doing relaxers and now My hair feels sooo damaged, parts of it are straight and some curly and it’s really nappy no matter how many times I comb it 😫
Love your video. It's been 3 months since my last relaxer and am struggling. But I really want to go natural
I was natural for over 10 years just relaxed it over a month ago. Mad at myself for having it done regret it big time

Thato Ntlhoko yeah u can
Thank s alot I was afro Hair glo so I'm transitioning I can't and won't cut my hair, I'll do exactly what u said
Nice video very helpful. My hair it half relaxer and half natural should I cut the relaxing part
I want to transition my hair and I do not know if I should use a texturizer or not like a natural hair relaxer
How can I trim my hair , like without the big chop?
Please i need help!!
I have been using relaxed cream for 19 years and I feel like my hair is always the same (never grow). So I decided to go for natural hair, but I don't know what to do or not. I stopped using relaxed cream for 3 months now, but I don't how to manage my hair. Could you please help me to start this process and to choose the right product for my hair?
The last time I got a relaxer was April 2018 and now it’s September. My hair is getting curlier and curlier
