I disagreed. I watched that performance and I don't feel anything or think her vocals are that great. This performance to me is 10x better. She has more control of her voice her and she has more emotion here.

While I don't typically like comparing singers, because they all have a different style and timbre and energy to their voice, there are certainly differences in technique. Carrie's technique is definitely great. I love her and she's one of my top favorite singers, along with Leona Lewis and Lauren Daigle.

Lemme explain the most important factor that makes a great singer is one vocal control/ or the professional term dynamics, and vocal maturity is the sound that you produce it so clear, and provides a sense of a story that can only be told by music. Carrie Underwood has both of those things, and that is what makes her so great.
