You are so right! I get teary eyed every time I hear her sing this and How Great Thou Art. Her passion moves me so much and makes me realize how our society as a whole has turned their back on our Lord.

@@annieross8020 Right?! Her version of it with Vince Gill playing guitar, is in my opinion, even better than Elvis'. And that is saying A LOT because I have been a huge Elvis fan since I was a toddler. So, I don't say that lightly.
But, she was filled with the Holy Spirit in that moment...It was radiating through her..she was the vessel. I have listened to it probably 50 times or more and I get full goosebumps all over...EVERY SINGE TIME. The true power of the Lord!!!
Listen to her live award show performance of “Popping Bottles” I think is the name of the song. I was BLOWN AWAY!!! Carries has always been vocally gifted but she’s gotten even more polished and perfect if possible. I’ll have to listen to this again.

That is a masterclass in singing. She projects so clearly from that far from the mic, hits the pitch perfectly, then proceeds to hold said pitch for multiple measures...all while making it look effortless.
When your vocals alone can create emotion, you’ve got a gift. Anyone that says she’s not one of the greatest voices in a generation/lifetime doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Truly amazing.

@@Fah__Q Of course it was live lmao. Carrie cannot lipsynch. Just because she performed it remotely doesn't mean it wasn't a live vocal. If it was mixed after the fact to enhance audio quality and to achieve the desired balance of sound between her vocals and the instruments, it's still live. No different from concerts that happen live but just aren't broadcast on television in real time, so everything is remastered and edited for when they do air it on TV. Of course they would do that if they have the chance. Ever notice how awful the sound often is on live broadcasts?
@@brianmelnick1117 I never said she was lip syncing and you are 100% wrong. My sister in law is a production assistant at NBC studios and confirmed this was sung live and then mixed in a studio to be aired. So what you hear isn’t her “live” voice per say.

@@brianmelnick1117 you probably need to rethink the definition of a live vocal. Before COVID a guest would sing in his studio and the voice we’d hear would come straight from the soundboard. That is live. Live isn’t singing something on a stage a couple days before the show is aired then having the audio mixed before it airs at a later date. That’s not a live vocal.

Obviously Carrie is phenomenal and this is probably the best version ever of this song, but let's talk about the stage setup. It's clear she was portraying the star the Wise Men followed to Jesus and each time she hit a major chorus, another part of the stage lit up to reveal a holy and solemn night - the night our Savior was born. It was captivating and chilling.

Wow! Glad I just happened to hit The Tonight Show as she came on. Never heard her sing before but, wow! What a beautiful voice and rendition. Not really even a fan of Christmas songs but this gave me chills. Zoomed over here and then saw that a bunch of other mega-stars also sang it so I couldn't resist doing a comparison with the biggies - - Mariah, Celine, Whitney, Kelly Clarkson, Josh Grobin, and a few others. Honestly, she just blew them all away (in my opinion of course) - - most all of the others just seemed to make it too much about their voices and the vocal "tricks" (for lack of a better word) that I guess they're known for - - warbling, vibrato, octave changes, over-emoting, etc. (I did like the Jennifer Nettles and Kerrie Roberts renditions though). Miss Underwood came out and basically just belted out the song without overdoing any vocal stuff, so I could hear the beauty of the song itself as well as the basic quality of her voice. I'm not saying the others were bad, just that this rendition appealed to my tastes the most. Now I think I will have to check out some of her other songs. Lucky me.
