A sad fact, that a lot of people don't know: @46:32 when Raynor is giving his speech on Char, the dogtag of the deceased marine "M. Koiter" was actually the name of a 19 year old Blizzard artist who died from heart failure in 2004. - It's a sombre but really cool way to honor one of their team. Knowing that, makes the speech and the words he says way heavier. RIP.
These aren't that good compared to the first game and brood war. Besides the first one with the convict suiting up. And that's what I think they lost, the best cinematics from the first one featured nameless humans that made you scared. Also transforming Raynor from the likeable Bruce Willis in 5th element by not just repairing his busted hairline but giving him a full mane of Raven hair is laughable
Can we stop and recognize Tychus’ reluctance to fulfill his orders out of loyalty to his friends? I mean, we’ve seen Tychus kicking ass all campaign, he totally could’ve killed Kerrigan outright if he’d really wanted to. I think that he joined up with Raynor to help stick it to Mengsk and enjoy his last days with good booze, good friends and the only thing he’s good at: making war. His hesitance, even a touch of sadness in his eyes when he says “damned shame” before Jim kills him, all speak tremendously to his character and I think Jim understood him in the end, even if only in a “He made his choice, I made mine” kinda way. I adore Tychus, so perhaps I’m biased, but I’d like to think that I like Tychus *because* of these facts. The world doesn’t need more Tychus, but it does need *one*.
Yea, I think Tychus never meant to betray Raynor and kill Kerrigan from the start. He isn't exactly a good person considering him being an outlaw for most of his past but I feel like he did start making up for it. The whole reason he was in prison in the first place was because him and Jim were set up in a heist, and only one of them would be able to escape, with Tychus literally saying he'd never done a noble thing in his life, unlike Raynor, and so he took the fall for him. He had two options, to probably rot and die in prison or be able meet up with his best friend again and help him in the short time that he has. He did nudge Raynor a bit throughout the campaign by telling him how Kerrigan cannot be saved, and that it was better to just kill her, to make sure if saving Kerrigan really was what Raynor had wanted the most. When he saw that Raynor had succeeded though, and that he was wrong, he went with Raynor's decision and accepted his fate. If Tychus REALLY did mean to kill Kerrigan, he would've simply just not used the laser on his pistol, or shoot Raynor and his buddies with his minigun while their backs were turned and then shoot Kerrigan, or set them all up in a trap with the Dominion or something. I think he would ultimately rather die to his Best Friend, than to someone the likes of Mengsk, especially in a painless way like a headshot which is why he had his visor open. I also think that Tychus would've actually liked that Raynor left his body on Char, since he maybe would've seen it as what he deserved, a fitting place for someone whose an "Outlaw" at heart. Or because such a practical man like Tychus simply wouldn't care what happened to him after he died, and if he didn't then he definitely wouldn't want his friend risking his or any more lives just to retrieve it.
I noticed this for the first time. Tychus stops and has an actual non-cynical moment right before he decides to take the shot. Pretty great storytelling.
As tychus said before the attack on char began, raynor showed him what true freedom looked like. When he pulled the trigger knowing raynor would block it, he chose to die a free man, because he knrew the "freedom" he bargained with mengsk was just an illusion
That is what makes his death tragic. He was a dead man walking from the start. Over the campaign he was having fun hanging out and causing chaos with his best friend. Knowing he has to betray him at the end. Either betray his friend or tell him the truth. Tychus would rather die with a clear conscience then turn on Jimmy.
Without knowing how the SC2 saga ends, it would have been prudent to eliminate Kerrigan way earlier or at the earliest opportunity before she rallies the zergs and kills billions. I'm fairly certain that Menks would have never released Tychus even if he did kill Kerrigan and Raynor(if he shot Kerrigan, he probably would have had to shoot Raynor).
I gotta say, I absolutely love how Raynor used Tychus' anger against him. That ploy with the cigarette was pretty awesome. And using the cable to short out the suit: clever!
I think the final cinematic is very powerful In WoL and HotS it's amazing how these can make you feel so many emotions over something that isn't real idk if it's just me but I love it
Considering what we see of the Protoss here, I wonder how their regular society goes. A city full of aliens saying creepy things to each other before drifting into a dark corner and disappearing?
The Dark Templar barely ever had a society. They only ever had a small tribe on Shakuras. The primary Protoss live in large golden societies with principles and robots.
Yeah, we see the Khala, the robot society ones. The Dark Templars and the Khala sort have combined a bit since Starcraft 1, for instance, Stalkers are the Dark Templar's answer to dragoons and immortals.
abacs21 The one thing I hate about the ending is that you can't with good co-operation get an ending where when Tychus is about to take his shot the Doll is used to disable him and the doll has a side quest related to Tychus in the 2nd part. It had such unused potential...
Aki Greus Tychus had a special body armor that he couldn't remove and he didn't let others investigate it (nor did he actually tell them that he was unable to remove it), because if it was tampered with or if he refused orders taken from Mengsk (shooting Kerrigan) then it would've self destructed... Conclusion: the voodoo doll wouldn't have saved his life, he was doomed from the beginning
Aki Greus In case you don't believe me: 2:40 "You'll carry your prison with you" -> He can't take it off 48:15 "You have your orders Mr. Findlay, carry them out!" And at the same time something starts flashing red inside his suit...
Zoxygene I'm pretty sure the red blinking lights when he was told to kill Kerrigan were an indicator of imminent self destruction to accelerate his decision.

Mechanical Engineer here. That combat suit at the starting is completely wrong in 7 different ways that I noticed off the top of my head, and probably more that I didn't catch. BUT STILL, the sheer amount of detail, artistry, thought, and engineering know-how that went in to making that opening cinematic... One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I'm in awe. But because I can't help myself 1. The hip joints don't actually have structure going in the right directions to bear weight. And there's so many tubes and rods down in the hips that there's no room for the wearer's hips, seen at 2:04 and especially at 2:15. 2. The 'spinal column' is nonsense. Those bulky plates over the top are the only part that look strong, and they're just flopping around not doing anything. And the animation looks like the links are plugging into his spine, but we can clearly see that he has no cybernetic implants on his back. 3. The cybernetic implants in his shoulders don't connect to any part of the suit. At 1:56 we see they just go underneath a piece of frame, and at 2:33 we can see the section of the suit that would connect to them, but there's nothing there, just fabric and a few rods. 4. From the width of the shoulders and the shot at 2:32, it's clear that he's actually wearing the suit with his arms out sideways, with his elbows inside the suit's shoulders, and 2:17 shows his hands inside the suit's elbows. This would break his wrists every time the suit bends its elbows past about 15 degrees. 5. 2:44 He's got exposed jet turbines and hydraulic hoses right there on top of the machine? These are exceptionally vulnerable components. Two bullets and he's done. They should be covered in armor. 6. LIFE SUPPORT. You expect this guy to live out years of his life inside this thing? The bare metal parts on his skin are gonna chafe something awful. And he's gonna need to crap and piss some time, and you just left his pants on? And you let him smoke a cigar inside a sealed helmet? He's gonna be useless for combat inside 18 hours. Tops. 7. There are altogether too many moving parts on this whole setup to even begin to describe. Everything in the video is overcomplicated and fragile. The armor plates are handled by arms with jointed fingers? The long, spindly robot arms are trying to do precision welds while he's moving around underneath? The spinning plunging plugs at 2:09 that I can't imagine a use for. It's all nonsense. All of it. Nonsense... And at 1:13... That's a Lilo and Stitch reference or I'll eat my hat.
I think Tychus knew of Kerrigan's importance to the future war effort, and untrustworthiness of those who imprisoned him. He chose to be killed by his friend, denying enemies the victory.
AWESOME VIDEO! Starcraft II is a truly awesome game... it was released 5 years ago, I have lost my touch, energy and magic looong ago, but will get back and play this again, and not so zombielike as I've been doing for long.
That last scene is still the only time I cried in starcraft history. As of that scene coming out I had been playing broodmare since 2003. It was a long journey total point and I was just happy the Raynor finally got his happily ever after
@@SquirrelTheSquirrel Yeah same :) I get that some people didn't like that Raynor went after Kerrigan, but they leave out how Zerathul pushed him into trying to redeem her, and ultimately he succeeded. It was a great story, the last great story that Blizzard made. The last hurrah of the old guard.
47:16 Thats one epic speech, scene and background music. But underneath all that, its about him, Raynor, trying to get it on with Kerrigan. 48:45 That line there....is the cue for you to lower down your visor to withstand a possible bullet discharge toward your face.
The plots aren't truly that great, and more than half the time they're predictable. Starcraft II has definitely been better than most games out today, but being able to spread it out over hour-long missions helps a lot of the story, and you can't do that in a movie since they usually end an hour and a half in. For that reason, I want video games to stay video games and away from the movie theater.
+AussieAussieOZoioioi Yes agreed...a movie with only cinematics...not that awkward Warcraft movie blizzard is making... If they make a full movie with Warcraft, Starcraft or Diablo with just their cinematics it would be phenomenal.
+Matthew Ferrusi Blizzard itself oversees on Warcraft movie. They wouldn't do that way if they wouldn't wanted it. ;) I hope the movie will be good. Maybe it would really look better fully in CGI effects like Avatar movie (actors scanned or what and then re-created in post production), but unfortunately it's not. Maybe Starcraft movie (if they decide to create it) will be done this way. :)
Fun fact: The part where Mengsk says, "I will not be stopped, not by you, the Confederates, the Protoss, or anyone! I will rule this sector or see it burn to ashes around me!" is a re-created version of what Mengsk said in the 10th part of the StarCraft 1 campaign "Rebel Yell.".
well to be fair they live in a world where you have to live in constant fear of attack from not only you're own people but 2 other races so ya their life's don't really have a silver lining that you kind easily find.

Nice analysis. You oughta do a video about it, I'd sub :P
Uh, okay, how you do propose to make this suit efficient?
Imagine Zeratul as a Jedi
He IS The Chosen One!
Jonathan Markham he would be badass
Great character
He's gonna be yoda
The force is strong with that one

INCEST IS WINCEST
The south in this universe technically won the civil war. Kinda sucks we don't see the confederate flag in this game.
@@Big_baasman uh? is that in lore or something?
@@sarcasmenul no cause thats not true😂
@@Big_baasman You see the confederate flag in SC 1
28:12 There is a guy flying on Matt! WTF!
Looks like nova hahaha
Jarred Hammer It's Nova riding a flying Matt...WTF x'D
+Alexander Tanasie Mira Han might get jealous.
+Jarred Hammer WTF! I just noticed it too now...
+Jarred Hammer hahaha thanks for pointing that out
The first 3 minutes and 42 seconds of this is certified ASMR material to me. I still remember the announcement. "YES LORD!! STARCRAFT 2!! FINALLY!!"
Love how the cinematics feel like an alternate version of Firefly sometimes
I feel so sorry for Kerrigan I can't believe the commander just left her to die.
Putting on terran armor looks painful
I think his armor is unique because it was designed to kill him
????
Diamond john Tychus was put into the suit and forced to kill Kerrigan, or else his suit will kill him
Minkyu Kim I’m wondering that how suit kill him?
@@Sausage-u5g According to Matt, after receiving specific command, his suit will shut down all his vital organs.
Damn, I was expecting Tychus to just fire into the dirt but they played it straight, he was a badass though
These are the best cutscenes ive ever seen in my life
34:06 to 38 : 10 - The best cutscene in games in all time.
Damn I don’t know the lotv cutscenes got this one beat I think. This one still amazing tjo
@@zacharyhsieh9358 What is LOTV??
@@rzeberdorlysznumberone979 Legacy of the void. Third campaign of sc2
@@zacharyhsieh9358 Oh ok. :)
I think Tychus knew of Kerrigan's importance to the future war effort, and untrustworthiness of those who imprisoned him. He chose to be killed by his friend, denying enemies the victory.
Still coming here to see the last part,
one of the greatest love stories
One of the best videogame endings ever, best music, this stuff is made for a blockbuster movie, period!
44:01 No matter what side , every soldier is the one who suffer the most
AWESOME VIDEO! Starcraft II is a truly awesome game... it was released 5 years ago, I have lost my touch, energy and magic looong ago, but will get back and play this again, and not so zombielike as I've been doing for long.
"Convict 626"
"Stitch. My. Name. Stitch"
6:53 aww poor fly
UltraJerky hahaahahahahahahaha
The story ended how it began, "Hell, its about time."
(Wings of Liberty begins with that, and LoTV ends with it)
That last scene is still the only time I cried in starcraft history.
33:42 And fix my dam jukebox!
The general was such a badass. It's too bad he wasn't in the original games, which had such a better plot.
I get a kick from Matt's face when Nova kills Tosh. XD
I will just bet you that the Protoss reincarnate tycus as a Protoss Terran hybrid
imagine if he is an immortal with a machine gun lol.
+Liberī Philosophus Hell is about time :v
Its been said that all stories follow more or less the same arc. Its in the telling that sets them apart.
It’s funny, Matt Horner is the commander you play as in SC1.
Just as you play as Artanis in SC1 then control him in Brood War?
Matt Horner is not the Magistrate from SC1.
A worthy ans
PLEASE MAKE A FREAKING MOVIE!!
That would be nice
+AussieAussieOZoioioi in The CGI Movie Department They Are Awesome too (proof is the Overwatch Cinematic Trailer which is Truly Cinema Level)
There are 4 books?
The best game that I have ever played on my life
The direction in these is spot on.
WoL was way better than HotS. I had changes in pacing and emotional content, in HotS it s "beat (insert enemy) to a pull and proceed to the next"
Now THIS is animation (The pre-rendered cinematic cutscenes specifically).
I really wish someone made a WELL DONE movie of starcraft, with the quality of Avatar more or less, not being crappy, i think people would love it
It would suck. Leave StarCraft to a computer game. Please don't give out horrible ideas when this franchise is starting to suck as it is.
Betraying Tosh is so low. Could never bring myself to do it.
He's my favorite WoL character
Fastest 50 minutes of my entire life! The cutscenes are amazing and just draw you in.
and fix my damn jukebox!
Uhh... A little help here?

God the cutscenes look awesome on the best graphics settings! Much better than my PC could ever handle.
Can your PC handle it now?

How does Kerrigan have a perfect manicure in that last cinematic? 😂
so glad I picked Tosh mission, I like him
Taking a huge bite straight from 40k...followed immediately by a side of cowboy bebop.
Taking a huge bite from straight Starship Troopers you mean.
Why those....'flying jergs' flap their wings in space? there is no air in space
제유진 It's Zerg, not Jerg.
+Herr Mann maybe
+제유진 It's a leftover reflex from before the species was assimilated into the Swarm. They don't actually use their wings to fly. Look it up.
The final scene is so awesome...
All the cuts to black are sooooo well done!!!
Nunavut!
Starcraft: the Movie
I always found it funny how the cinematic are stupidly high HD and the in-game cutscenes are 100x lower quality due to the limitations of technology
HELL ITS ABOUT TIME....
To Raynor and his Raiders, Uhra
28:10 Michael Liberty! :D
shout out to original StarCraft, which is about as old as I am.

Joseph Stan the carbot one is better tho
"You know, for the most wanted man in the sector, you ain't that hard to find!"
26:10 for new comers and CODM &Star Craft lovers, that revolver is maybe equal to the skill operator which is the "Annihilator"
The cowboy bar scene is one of the most memorable cutscenes I know!
Has anyone else thought about how boring and emotionless almost all of these scenes of dialogue would be without the music?
Yeah, it's just like Jimmy without his unibrow.
well to be fair they live in a world where you have to live in constant fear of attack from not only you're own people but 2 other races so ya their life's don't really have a silver lining that you kind easily find.
Blitzcrank grabbing dat Ashe Music acts on your entire mind and body. Put the inception music while searching for your keys because you lost them, and it will be the most epic key seeking you've ever had.
That is the whole point of videogame story telling.
Isnt it like that for every movie tho?
damn Jimmy back at it again with the floating palace
You know about the battleships in Starcraft I made a mini lego of it
