    Depression! I cannot believe I didn’t do this video earlier. Depression is very common. Especially within the OCD world. I wanted to provide 5 tips that work for OCD. These are research based tools that can be used in your life.

      I just want you to be aware that Depression is not mental state it is an illness. Please be wary when giving advice like this because the last thing a Depressed person needs is pressure to do more things to fight it. If one is recovering then it could then apply. But while they are in it, they need rest and time to recover. Otherwise it just comes across fixing the individual rather than being there for them and listening to their needs.

      @@TheCarly80 Completely understandable that it's not a mindset. I understand it's a mental illness. But like any illness there is treatment. Not just medication. Look anywhere, the advice I gave it backed by research. Those who sit idle waiting and "resting" do not seem to recover very well. Having a support system and having someone listen to needs is important.

      To me, the worst thing about depression is that when you believe that your thoughts are true. You almost feel like the curtain of lies has lifted and I have now realized the truth. When in fact, your thoughts lie to you when you're suffering from depression. Recognize that false voice in your head and be your best advocate. Thoughts are not facts.

      Depression for me is feeling overwhelming sadness for either many or no apparent reasons. I know Netflix is not the healthiest cure, but it helps me stop my negative thought pattern for some period of time when I find shows to bingewatch.

    Depression isn't a trend, it makes me mad that some people think it's cute and just make it a trend, depression is a very serious matter... it's more than being sad, it feels like ur locked in your own hell and a part of you fades away every day and then one day you're just gone..Please help people with any mental illness, and please give importance to mental illness as you give the importance to physical illness..💔

      Every girl in my middle school: “Omg are you saying that I’m being depressed for attention!? Justin broke up with me and I get depressed sometimes and have anxiety so bought figit toys...#lol #quirky #goalz” like bitch depression isn’t a joke and I’ve been suffering from depression for 2 1/2 years and it doesn’t just go away. I’m only 14 and dealing with this shit and I sure the hell am not gonna post about it on Snapchat

      @@selena_rod same I am also pretty young and I know girls talk behind my back about how I’m faking my symptoms and whatnot.Well it took me staying at the hospital to finally make them realise that I wasn’t faking stuff,the worst thing that one of the girls did was she pretended to have a panic attack.I was furious when I heard about it(was still staying in the hospital at that time) panic attacks aren’t funny!It’s terrifying and she has the audacity to fake it.

      People who use depression to make themselves more popular disgusts me. It is an extremely severe mental illness that I and many others suffer from. If you say you have depression because it’s a trend and only for that reason I hope you rot in hell

      My Parents are fucking Cunts I’m gonna be a better parent by 384783737x they never check up on me and they dont care about me. They just bully me because they think I’m Joking and when I open up they dont believe me. All I have left is myself. No Motivation no nothing. I have Childhood Trauma and I’ve been thru abuse. I’ve been thru heartbreak 837483838 times. Ny Grandpa recently died. 3 of my friends backstabbed me in the same week.

      Would not agree. I think that most frustrating thing can only be not knowing what is happening with you. (Unknown)
      Only way for recovery is being consious about the state of mind. Then, 40% of job is already done, what is left is realisation, how to get things back step by step. Might be shocking when realising that you are depressed, but mostly i believe it has positive effect.
      Trust me, i'm going through same shit right now and i wish you already went through it without consequences, but if not yet, wish you fast recovery ❤

      @@usha6844 I tried studying at first but it kept eating away at my psyche and it bothered me a lot. Than I strated again with the little things. Focused on multiple small, small works everyday, Fitness, Cleaning the house, Fixing my diet.
      Basically using self improvement to shift my mind's focus.
      I failed at that two times but I got back on it again. Slowly, slowly, it has taken months. Around that time I found these videos which showed me that I am not crazy, these mental thoughts are not my reality, I stopped talking about them and then stopped watching the self help videos and reading on the internet because trying to fix it kept making me think that their is something wrong.
      I doubted myself everyday but yet I kept moving forward and forward till today.
      Your mind once it builds enough confidence and focus will be able to overcome it. I am not sure if I am totally moved on from it, it might come back but I WE HAVE TO KEEP MOVING FORWARD.
      Some days will be shitty so don't be too hard on yourself.👍🏻

      I dont know why it all started with a kidney stone i was in so much pain after it finally passed i bleed for 2mo. Then after all that i just stared feeling like something is wrong with my body. I have a doctor appointment in March im going to tell him how i feel and hope he can fix it.

    I just stumbled upon this video and I think it's amazing ! I am a person who has suffer with major depression and I have to say I've challenged myself with everything you said on this video. I started the change about 4 months ago and I feel so different in a positive way. It's like my depression is close to being non existent. I had to put in the works 💪 and now I'm greatful for everything and everyone around me.. and I've learn to love myself more !

    needed this today. went into a panic attack while driving and crying. running off the road sounded so relieving for a min. i’ll be perfectly fine and then the depression hits like a tidal wave.

    I try really hard to be diligent and be healthy in my life but my depression gets in the way of my life out of nowhere and it's like all my progress is ruined... I can workout, and eat healthy, and meditated and do all my work, and get enough sleep and down time, and still it keeps me from being happy. Thank you so much for this information.

    Wow... This is so amazing... I really needed this. Everybody makes mistakes sometimes, big ones and very small. We all experience negative thinking. But stay consistent and realize that you yourself are special and beautiful everyday folks. Every one of you. Everday we wake up, we've got so many beautiful things in our life to be ever grateful for.

    If you stay up all night gaming / watching RUclips it can have a depressed impact leading to full on depression. Your body needs sleep, it’s like a battery that charges your body, get sleep. Get rest, take naps, live life, love life. I love you.

    I am so depressed with everything in life. At one point about a month ago I was gonna run away from home and even threatened to kill myself. But luckily I didn’t and I started feeling happy again. To you guys that are depressed please don’t run away or commit suicide because life is a blessing that you don’t get for long. Enjoy life as much as you can and when you are having some rough times remember this comment.

    Wow! These are all great tips. I've been heavy most of my life yet for the past 4 months I changed my eating habits and do light exercise @ work (Overnights, dumbbells) and stay with water. @ times i really DO feel better. I need to keep it up. Was 315 pds about 10 years ago. Now my weight fluctuates between 268-279.

    What helps me as a freshly divorced single Mum with a 26 year history of depression and PTSD:
    1.make yourself a playlist of songs that are upbeat and are raising your mood
    2. combine shitty tasks like cooking or folding clothes with something you like for example watching a documentary or listening to an audio book
    3. keep a journal sth. like a bullet journal to put everything out of your brain unto paper, things that bother you, appointments, stuff that helped, good thought, you can even write a letter to a person who wronged you and cuss them out
    4. do some imagination exercise: imagine a wonderful place where it’s safe and beautiful before falling asleep or when you need a break, try to really feel this place, if you cannot travel for real your mind can go anywhere you want

    1:06 Ive had these feelings/thoughts since I was a kid. Have I been depressed this long and literally never gotten checked out? I never got checked because not only was I too poor to afford any sort of therapy or medication but my mom made me feel so fucking stupid for letting her know how little I enjoyed being alive.

    Having negative thoughts can likely make me feel depressed because of feeling a bit stressed or sometimes having bad thinking style habits to do my best at anything I can. This is why I should be more focused then I would likely remember the most important things I have done, and I would likely not forget them

      Rhea, Detox the mind. Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed, be as still as possible and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight with your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Anytime of the day or night before sleep sit or lie down on your back and observe your breath.     I'm in a state of depression where it feels like i almost have no emotions., if i feel sad i wont cry even tho i feel like it and want to. i've had this for upwords of a year now, and it's only got worse, i'm 13 and its distracting me with school, and i've also lost a lot of friends because of it. I used to be a generally happy person, everyone got along with me and now, i got like 1 real friend left it seems. Any tips on what to do, anything helps :(
