I'm starting to get some strong 2007 vibes for college football this year, and that might be the best thing that could possibly happen for the sport right now.
After A&M last week I kept talking about the huge Michigan upset in 07. I live about 30 minutes away from boone but was in Illinois for the Michigan game and me and my parents were the only people cheering for App!
I'm from North Carolina and I spent my first two years of college at Appalachian State from 90-92. I Loved it up there. I ended up having to transfer to Charlotte for financial reasons but I still call Appalachian my school along with Charlotte who now has football and they won today also scoring with 17 seconds left so it's been a great day.
I’ve been a gator fan my whole life and never even thought about app state but the way they have been playing and the way they’re fans have gotten behind them I’m all for em this year I’m watching every game I can. Go mountaineers!!
Same. I think what makes it crazier is the how the final minutes played out before this. I’m thankful I got a free trial of ESPN+ before the season started. Not going another season without it.
My wife was born in Boone and we visit whenever we can. It’s a beautiful mountain town with fresh air, great views, and friendly folk. It’s small, but with the university, it’s got a lot going on and a nice energy. I followed their last season in the FCS. They made the jump from FCS to FBS when we got married and it’s been so cool to see them do well! And Josef is one of the coolest mascots in the country.
I know. I'm a Michigan fan and I'm loving app state. Such a great story. With the college football playoffs expanded in a couple years maybe app state can make it!
My wife, her aunt and uncle attended with us. Season tickets holders. MAF Fund contributor's. Here is what I will always remember from this "Hail Mary" game. Uncle Ken, JK or PapPaw, Kenneth Coleman was a great human being. He always lived in your moment. They came dressed for the game in App State colors, although their child, Anna, a UNC Grad and son-in-law, Jason Hayes, Mayor of Lexington, NC was a Duke grad and played football under Steve Spurrier. They bleed Duke and Carolina Blue all the time. We were jumping up and down like every body else and enjoying one of the most miraculous finishes in App State Athletic history. What I will remember is that seven days later, Kenneth, treated for melanoma for five years and hanging in there for himself, his family and all of us, died seven days later suffering a massive heart attack and over the next 24 hours his immediate family decided that his life support was not going to happen, per his wishes. He left us on Sunday, September 25, 2022. An immeasurable loss! He left us as he lived with us, proud, selfless and a true supporter of anything family! Kenneth, we will always remember that Saturday in Boone, your commitment to family and your love for sports and the connection you always made to App State sports in support of us and me specifically, a legend in Lexington, NC and a soul that many could learn some real life lessons from. We will miss you Uncle Ken, and App State Nation was proud you shared this moment with us. Mike Terrell ASU '82
If you're a fan of the sunbelt conference, I'll give you credit, no win inside their conference play is ever a lock/sure thing, the sunbelt conference plays each other tougher than any other does, the 1 conference where record, 2-0, 3-0,1-11, etc. truly doesn't matter. The sunbelt is a pretty entertaining conference in conference play to watch, if you take time to watch it. Expect, South Alabama, they find a way to lose to everyone. Hint: Yesterday.
The call on the ESPN site is one of the greatest call ever, go listen to it, it is really worth it. This Applachian state team look like the 2013 Auburn with all those crazy miracle ending.
I was a freshman at App in 2007, and experienced the Michigan celebration on campus. As great as our football program is, the university is even more special. 🖤💛
I am thinking it is time to become a Appalachian State Fan. You guys are truly a nightmare to any team. Wondering if you can take on SEC elites? Great Game Mountaineers!!!
Got a good Vibe from coach Clark Friday afternoon when myself and fellow employee done some work in his office….I just had a positive feeling about this game!
They beat Texas A&M with strategy and clock management. They were not the better football team. Texas A&M beat Alabama that same year. No way App state beats Alabama.
ESPN College Football highlights are the worst. There’s no context, only plays. Then there’s a score, there’s a replay. How about ditching the replays and including defensive plays to add more context to the highlights?
The Troy coach totally blew the game with the safety and the squib kick to hand them the game, yet you focused on the holding call on the last play? Should never have ever even gotten to that point. Terrible coaching. 😂 😂 😂
You can't count on everything to be called. There are many missed calls every game. Ultimately the goal in sports is to outplay the opponent to the point that a missed call or two don't make the difference. I'm sure Troy got away with a hold at some point during the game.
Also where exactly was the hold. If there was a hold it was pretty minor and it's no wonder that the refs didn't call it. Also I'm curious, were you rooting for Troy?
Whats this got to do with 2007? I just dont get those comments. This wasnt some huge upset. Hail mairys do happen in college football. Texas A&M isnt that good they dont even look like a top 25 team. Yea they beat Miami but Miami had 27 1st downs & just shot themselves in the foot everytime in the redzone. Never seen anything like it. Miami dominated them on the field but the scoreboard said 17-9 lol.
It really hasn't got anytging to do really with the '07 upset of Michigan but it's just one of the known moments App state is known for. Besides Purdue, a team that is known for being the #1 Giant killer, App state is known for being the #2 giant killer especially early in season
I'm starting to get some strong 2007 vibes for college football this year, and that might be the best thing that could possibly happen for the sport right now.
I swear I said the same thing!!
Same here..nebraska was terrible then and terrible now 🤣🤣🤣

I know right!? Heck, Kansas is 3-0 for the first time in 16 years!
Nah the gators were dope in 2007 this is a new college football all together Ike Tennessee projected to be a top sec schoo?
I'm from North Carolina and I spent my first two years of college at Appalachian State from 90-92. I Loved it up there. They're pretty good for a D-2 team. Better than a lot of D-1 teams.

I know. I'm a Michigan fan and I'm loving app state. Such a great story. With the college football playoffs expanded in a couple years maybe app state can make it!
Until JMU beat them lol
Welcome All… App State scored 40 pts in a quarter and it’s only the 3rd most exciting thing they’ve done this year
Never imagined id be an App State fan in 2022 but I'm here for it 😂Go Mountaineers!!!
America’s team! Wish we had a livefeed of Boone all night.
ON GOD
You do!!! Look up king street live cams!
The energy at this game was so great. First time there and will definitely be returning. Number 35 was the best hype man.

So good to see a hometown guy in Cam Peoples and App State doing this well.
Troy’s WRs and return unit are fast

my grandparents live about 30 minutes from Boone and I was driving around App State when I went to visit them this summer. Absolutely gorgeous campus
I was at the Michigan game in 07…an awesome highlight of my college experience
3 points of that last second touchdown go to #2 for that great drive blocking.
I am thinking it is time to become a Appalachian State Fan. You guys are truly a nightmare to any team. Wondering if you can take on SEC elites? Great Game Mountaineers!!!
App State is building a great reputation.
Got a good Vibe from coach Clark Friday afternoon when myself and fellow employee done some work in his office….I just had a positive feeling about this game!
Dayum, that was a good game!
People need to give the SunBelt more respect. They beat Texas A&M, an SEC team, yet barely beat Troy. Think about that.
They beat Texas A&M with strategy and clock management. They were not the better football team. Texas A&M beat Alabama that same year. No way App state beats Alabama.
@@ghstofperdition You don't have to be the "better" team in college football, as you just pointed out yourself.
@@ghstofperdition what are you on about? They didn’t beat Alabama Texas A&M lost to Alabama.
And Troy ended up finishing at #19 after it was all said and done. Crazy.
For the love of god someone please explain the safety taken at the end by Troy !!
My favorite part of the group celebration was #43 doing the "bunny hop" all the way to the end zone.
What an amazing catch!
that was an awesome finish!
#2's Blocking made all the difference on that last play
My boy Kdub#2 repppin for us in the Mtns. and 828! As a Bama fan all my life, still love and support this team
Boones beautiful .. KB Stadium is awesome .. add a football program with 3 FCS championships, 6-1 bowl record, better be ready to play the whole game

Was cringing so hard seeing those fans jump on the pile. Worst feeling in the world being at the bottom of that
Who put this choppy highlight together? And why would you leave out the safety and ensuing squib kick?
Play with App State at your own risk.
I needed this win, Syracuse, Indiana and 6 others to make a 9 game parlay. I got lucky
How much did you win?
Suuure you did
Rank them boys
App state might be on to something 👀
I was not ready! 😮😮😮

Yew!! What a game..I love my Happy Appies😎😎😄
They missed a holding call on that Hail Mary play

Don’t try to catch the ball. Slap it down.
thatz why they call it a haaaail mary 🎉
Did I just see what I think I seen 😮
App stat better have somebody go NFL n I'll be 👀
Texas A&M hangover....Good teams find a way to win ...
Troy needs a quarterback that can run. He's a statue. Too much walking on defense. Troy's defense lost this game.
Dwow! Dwhat an ending.
