Troy LB Carlton Martial
Senior 5’9 210 lbs
Size doesn’t mean everything, but it’s still something people won’t understand. Undersized players have been overlooked for years & many have become starters in the NFL. At 5’9 216 lbs, Troy LB Carlton Martial is the smallest linebacker in college football. It’s possible that he could move to safety, but he’s been a tackling machine at linebacker to the point where his size won’t make him switch positions. It’s actually wild for how great Martial has been, not enough people are talking about him. You won’t see him getting any attention from big media outlets. If you’ve never heard of Carlton Martial by now, expect to hear all about him next season. He could be as special of a LB prospect as Micah Parsons if given the opportunity.

Troy LB Carlton Martial is a tackling machine. He’s been one of the most productive defensive players in the country yet people rarely talk about him or even know who he is. He gets overlooked because he is undersized for the LB position. It’s a shame because he has shown that it hasn’t stopped him from doing what other linebackers can do.

Bombs I have a question
How do you make a highlight video so well
I swear I hear about new players on here than anywhere else. JBP be putting on for the players/schools that you won't see get any coverage on Sports Center. That's what I love about this channel.
That’s what I love about this channel too!
I appreciate y'all! I know there are people who would rather just see the top or most popular players, but I'm glad there are people who enjoy the lesser known players as well
@@JustBombsProductions like i said, we’re always there!
ESPN doesn’t care about research. All they care about is what could give them a hot new take.
Facts
5’9 beast !!! Dudes a baller HEART OVER HEIGHT 💪🏽
5'9 is ok
@@3DHDcat cap I’d run right at this kid for a half then make him run sideline to sideline taking away from his athletic impact on the game beating beat up and tired. You need substantial size to play in the box like his play style is if he was a coverage backer in the build of Derrick brooks okay but not for a thumper type that he is
His height will actually be a benefit in the NFL.. It is his weight a 215lbs. that will be an issue.. He won't be able to stand up to the punishment of getting hit by offensive lineman and monsterous running backs.. He might make the move to strong safety though.
@@00ghostcobra no offense but 5’9 isn’t tall at all especially for a db jump ball situations just not gonna cut it he’s gonna have to play like honey badger if that’s the case
@@00ghostcobra yea he definitely has the size and he could be a little faster but linebacker is not it in the NFL
No measurables for this mans heart!! He a baller!
Jesus Loves you He died on the cross for your sins and if you repent if your sins and confess with your mouth His is Lord and son of God you are saved. God bless 😊
Maybe he can move to strong safety playing close to the line of scrimmage? I think he could find a place on SPecial Teams as well. He’s talented I think he could make it in the league if a d coordinator would use him right he could stick to a roster
Safety
I could get w that. Honestly can't stand the size thing. If he can play. Then yo, HE CAN PLAY. if it's in the game, it's in the game😁👍
I said the samething
U really look of for the overlooked I appreciate that fr.
I'm glad you enjoy these kind of videos. I know it's not for everyone. Some just want to see the "top" or most popular players, but there are plenty of talented players like Martial who just need the recognition they deserve.
@@JustBombsProductions respect bro🤟🏾
@@kenfromclayco6451 respect ✌️
you gotta be kidding me. This dude is insane. It's an even better story that he was a walk-on to a smaller school. He's going to the league for sure. Might take time but he'll get on the field one way or another.
Mad props to @JustBombsProductions for another fire clip on an underdog prospect!!….
Dude is Ferocious…his awareness and ball-hawk skills immediately reminded me of Honey Badger’s LSU days combined with Bob Sanders (Indi Colts) intensity AND tackling ability! Oh yea, and they have similar frames as well, but hell with it: “when you can play, you can play, and THEY come find YOU!” Size ain’t no thing, dudes got enough heart for 13 men
Also…guarantee that Coach Bill’s got his regional peeps scouting this cat already…he can 110% play on Sundays, just hope he tests out well and stays healthy! Bare bones: SPECIALS DEMONNN
Agreed. Special players can overcome the lack of height. Martial looks like he can do just that.
This guy went to my high school-McGill-Toolen in Mobile!! One of the best players on our national championship team, and now one of the best LBs in this class!! Definitely deserves to be a high draft pick
Jesus Loves you He died on the cross for your sins and if you repent if your sins and confess with your mouth His is Lord and son of God you are saved. God bless 😊
I’m from Mississippi I’m right by mobile
When people put me down about being a short LB, what I think is "I'm already down, that's why I hit hard"
LOLOL MYYYY dude! Love the comment 👏👏
the bigger they are the harder they fall
YESSSIR yk what this makes me happy being 5’10 and a linebacker 🤩 I thought I was the only one
@@jacobr1382 5’9 linebacker here 🤘🏽 squad
Lowest man w the greatest leverage, generates the biggest push.
-John Madden
No one picked him up...I was hoping my eagles could give him a chance...we need LB...
ANOTHERR BANGERR FOR THE 🐐 OF HIGHLIGHTS! 💣💣💣🔥🔥🔥 JBP CAN DO IT ALL DAY WITH BANGERRS!
All love bro. I truly appreciate you.
@@JustBombsProductions I appreciate u!
Reminds me of my Homeboy Breeze. R.I.P my brother.
I just watched a bit more and MAN, what a supreme tackler. NO QUIT at all !
Carlton Martial have a heart he's the best linebacker never heard of
He has to go to a team that will know how to use him, like The Steelers. He can play Strong Safety or even free safety. He’s a great tackler. He plays fast I wanted him all season. The dude can play!
Yeah, he can definitely play Mike or FS and makes incredible pre-snap reads which gives a defense the ability to run Tampa 2. The right team will thrive on defense with him.
Also special teams he can make a career playing special teams
Jesus Loves you He died on the cross for your sins and if you repent if your sins and confess with your mouth His is Lord and son of God you are saved. God bless 😊
Reminiscent of Sam mills aka field mouse of the Carolina Panthers 5'9 190-200 lbs and a starter his entire career in USFL AND NFL....R.I.P
This is a banger. 🔥🔥🔥 and the title right, never heard of him
Thanks bro! I think he would look nice with your Broncos.
@@JustBombsProductions I think so too!
@@thatisbigcap1673 I think so too!
On the the cool he reminds me of Ray Lewis. Not as an explosive tacker as Ray but defiantly a natural born Mike backer.
Looks like a young London Fletcher. Keep packing on that bowling ball weight and he'll be around.
Sam Mills, London Fletcher, Dat Nguyen to name a few were all great “undersized” linebackers. I’m sure this guy will be on that list too.
Dexter Coakley
Zach Thomas
Mike singletary 5'10 and Steve Nelson
London Fletcher was a great LB for the Rams and his whole career and he was 5'9. But he weighed a lot more than this dude but you can't deny his play recognition and closing speed. Seems Strong too
Fletcher is definitely the player who comes to mind when watching him, but you're right. London was bigger. Carlton can still add muscle
linebackers in the NFL need to be able to cover these freak TEs that are 6'6 running 4.5 40s i just dont see how a 5'9 kids gonna do that ? can he play safety ?
Middle line backers are more zone and centered toward gap control...see Sam Mills and especially Dexter Coakley
@@odpparker2162 All LBs are zone theres no man coverage they arent corners. But if a TE or slot wr enters your zone you need to pick them up in coverage
Must be something new..cause if you're linebacker and assign to cover a tight end or running back..thats man ,or it was when I played ..but ok
they also need to have the length to stack blocks and deflect passes I think he could be a udfa
#251 I definitely heard of him played against him in HS bro a dog shoutout JustBombs keep blessing us with 🔥🔥 videos
That's what's up! Did you think you were facing a future D1 college football player at the time y'all were playing?
@@JustBombsProductions He was definitely hard prolly the hardest hitter I hit head on I knew he would get slept on bc of his size though I was a senior he was a junior I played HB btw Lamical Perine was our RB
He looks like a really nice player. He seems like he specializes in shooting gaps on runs and finishing off scrambling QBs primarily. Good skill set, but I don’t know how good his coverage is in man or zone. Also didn’t blitz that much
Sam mills came to mind watching Martial plays..
New age London Fletcher but faster keep it up bro .
Heart Over Height 😤💣🔥🔥
Yup. Even though I've never seen a linebacker this short before, it doesn't mean he can't overcome the odds. I think PFF ranks him pretty high on their lists.
@@sammiestevens4623 he’s really short but he’s really good!
Mike singletary was 5’11 but really looks more like 5’9-5’10
Nah too small
always come back and watch this vid gives me hope
For the ball carrier, it's a shock and awe campaign that they can't believe when BLASTED by my man here.
Intelligence and drive. He has it. True warrior. Salute’
looks like a future steeler to me. i would love to see em in BLACK & GOLD
Anybody old enough to remember ol' Hugh Douglas? Carolina Panthers.
Super discovery. This deserves a NA ZDOROVIE. With size and destruction ability. He really should be nicknamed Stealth
I would draft him and put him at safety
He plays with no fear, separates you from anyone
This kid could possibly become the 2nd coming of Sam Mils, a 2x USFL champion and proud member of the New Orleans Saints’ legendary Dome Patrol defense who also stood at 5 feet, 9 inches tall.
Sam Mills & London Fletcher both come to mind when I watch Martial.
He would be great in some Green&Gold!! Great player and great channel!!
Agreed. Also, Thanks Scott!
A scouting nightmare...Brian Dawkins, London Fletcher come to mind...
Yea and ol' Bobby Sanders. Indy colts
they play ball at Troy...ran into them in 79...beat our ass and we went 8-3 that year..quality program
London Fletcher slash Gary Brackett vibes very productive player.
Sam Mills
He is the truth
Pure inspiration
Any body remember Sam Mills of the Saints ?
He would probably be playing up the road at Jordan Hare or in Tuscaloosa if not for his size.
He reminds me of Rennie Curran who played for Georgia while back. Small but tough agile and a tackling machine
Man it's too bad he's 5'9" people are always going to overlook him.
Pun intended.
He’ll be an UDFA monster in the league. Walk-ons in college always have that dog mentality
@udYi Q it might depend on the school Ik some universities already filled their walk-on spots for this szn. I would check with your specific school tho
He’s like London fletcher
He's actually 5' 7". You know how they beef up the rosters.
Barry Sanders was only 5 7" 150 lbs his senior yr of high school and only played 6 games at TB and still nearly broke the Wichita City League rushing record; even chose sitting out the entire 4th quarter of the last game, a blowout, so his teammates could participate.
He’s going to make his way on the field through special teams… if he does the work he can be a amazing utility knife in any defense… 5’9 good luck getting up under him as a offensive player.
Sam Mills 2.0 💯
I appreciate these videos so much, thank you man !! 🔥💯
Strong safety in 4 3 def.
Let’s keep it real 5’9 216 is big af 5’9 sheesh he’s probably the strongest in the weight room too if that’s his real size
Yeah, he's definitely strong. He gets off blocks from bigger offensive lineman.
Martial Law 🔥🔥🔥
You commented on mine so I thought I'd comment on your. I fuck with that Nickname.
@@gabrieldawa6221 haha yeah I just thought of that.. never heard of the dude tbh but @JustBombsProductions always puts guys on !
Officially measured 5’7 at the combine makes this tape even crazier.
All I hope is if do make it to the league dawg gotta put on muscles I mean can I imagine him tackling derrick Henry but this dude look legit no cap he look small but don't play like it can go London Fletcher or manti teo
Shoots gaps beautifully. Ohh the patience
These guys are great players
This guy is built for the CFL!
Bomb after Bomb
Yesssirrrr
Kid just broke the fbs record for most tackles
Statiscally he’s the best LB In the draft
Let’s see some HBCU talent
I want to, but there just aren't enough games broadcasted on ESPN. And those that are either not available or the quality of the footage is really low.
Reminds me of Buster Davis from FSU back in the day
I thought of Sam Mills, but Davis is a great comp too.
This dude is a dawg
I would have hate If the NFL said he to short to be linebacker in the NFL he a beast
This dude is either not making the league or he's the next London Fletcher.
London was bigger in build and was an iron man unless he can meet that it’s slow for him
NFL bond
Ravens would take a chance on him 😈🖤
Yes , we prob would.
Talent comes in all variants and sizes my friend
Love this channel bro
Bout time we they show athlete in troy alabama I'm 20 minutes away from there alabama stand up
Yes -- Love this.
Sing him Cowboys as soon as you can and move him to strong safety! He’s a beast!
Sign I’m excited for this young man!
Remember when linebackers were 6’2 250 pounds
Nah dead ass lol but they were the trash ones most of the god lbs 5'9 or six ft
@@htownq3300 false
@@vensonj 🤔 damn lol
This dude woulda been AMAZING with the Legion of Boom
Jesus, he destroyed Coastal Carolina
This man scares me
LOL
Fucken Legend.
Finally someone made it
Nice to build around
He’s like the honey badger
Out there looking like London Fletcher
I d k what's better, tackling ability, awareness, gap shooting, locating the ball😳😳😳. Albeit quite undersized at the pos but who tf cares when you fly around like 52 and have the ability and iq to get it ALL done. Also, AMAZING block shredder. That's right not shed, SHRED. I love what he does. NFL? 😬 I dunno. What do you do? Size is off but damnit EVERYTHING else is there in abundance. Love him
216 lbs!?!? Yeeeesh
He can play!
Quite undersized and damn good
My immediate inspiration
That's what's up! Carlton Martial was overcome a lot of from being an underdsized walk on, who worked his butt off to earn a starting spot & scholarship.
Mike singletary was a shorty...howd that work out ;)
I’m the same height as him and we play the same position
He’s a god at linebacker
Reminds me of Dat Nguyen
Hey how do you edit your videos like get it to freeze and circle the player for a second. Wanna do a edit like that for my film
Believing n ya self is over anything
Can u do a breden knox from the razerbacks
Good feel good story. Happy for his success in college. My fear is if he hopes to make it to the league, he is flat out too small to play linebacker and he doesn't appear to be fast enough to convert to dB.
That said, if I were a coach and I saw this tape with all his heart I'd bring him in for a shot. At the very least he would make a great fullback
He can play MLB in nfl see Sam Mills but more importantly, see Dexter Coakley from Dallas cowboys
@@odpparker2162 well although I disagree, as I said, I'm rooting for the guy.
Both Coakley and Mills although short, had bigger builds and played at 230 lbs. They both played faster, especially Coakley. And although they were listed as linebackers they lined up most of the time as a nickel or dime safety.
All that said, hope a dude with this heart gets a shot and runs with it...I just doubt it's going to be a conventional linebacker at the next level
@@steel_boydepoy5827 it's all good but Coakley college weight was 215..not saying it means anything cause it's not the same as it use to be
This is my exact night and weight
Really remind me of London fletcher
Sam Mills
@@LennieWilcomes yea that's a little before my time 😂
A late Rd draft pic or a free agent but he will make the NFL roster come 2023 he is a fighter and he loves football
#shortking 👑
Reminds me of David Long from WVU
You gotta question the level of competition though.
need to see him take some reps at Safety. I am getting Earl Thomas vibes
He might need to because there will probably be scouts that want him to workout with the DBs at the Combine. Could help to play some during the season.
He should play strong s
