Shabani and his son, Kiyomasa, were playing nicely together.
Hard to hear but they were laughing and playing wrestling.
It was a wonderful time.

Shabani: Male Born October 20, 1996
Nene: Female Born in 1972 (estimated)
Ai: Female Born February 27, 2003
Kiyomasa: Male Born November 1, 2012
Annie: Female Born June 2, 2013
Shabani was born in the Appenheul Primate Park, Netherlands.
Nene was born wild in Cameroon.
The other three were born in the Higashiyama Zoo in Japan.

So wonderful to see Shabani and Kiyomasa playing. The muscles in Kiyomasa's back are huge. I know they have to control the population but it would be so great to see a little one. Shabani loves to play. Some of the best moments were when Kiyomasa and Annie were little and they were chasing him. They all looked so happy and they were having so much fun.

That entire lineage birthed some beautiful gorillas! Shabani, Haoko, G'yasi, Kriba and many, many more. They're stunning Westerns.
@@anitacroften6674I spent 40 years in this field and worked with 23 species of primates including western lowland gorillas. The reason you barely hear them is because the keepers don't film inside the enclosure. As sweet as Shabani is and the other silverbacks , he would go into protect mode. And you asked about how they sound, they have many vocalizations. We had to learn them to get the gorillas to trust us. They grunt a lot , scream when they're upset, moan when they eat their favorite foods, and make a grunt/groaning sound. They're very vocal when they want to be and very gassy as well. 😆

Getting very hard to tell Kiyomasa and his dad apart from the front these days.
3:57 love the way Shabani immediately stops roughhousing when Kiyomasa loses his balance and falls on his back. They do such a good job not hurting each other given how strong they both are.

I can understand what you’re saying honestly,,, but Kiyo can’t help himself he is becoming a Silverback and he’s going to be huge.. And the only time I’ve seen Shabani really lash out at Kiyo is when he was trying to mate with his mum Nene and half sister Ai. But 97% of the time Shabani is playing with his little boy 😂😂😂(LITTLE BOY)😂😂😂

Shabani envies Kiyomasa because he is getting love from all of the females. But Shabani can't stay mad at Kiyomasa because he is the only 1 giving him affection.
Like being in prison, where the guards are watching your every move.
Seems like plenty of room in side and out. Gorillas usually dont travel very far unless looking for food.
Female comes between them and they saunter off in opposite directions. 😂
I love monkeys gorillas metaphant. They call me the monkey girl and I love it. People have given me so many monkeys. They all over my place. Are you even have a stuff monkey? I wish I had a real one pretty soon. I'm going to new york to the bronx zoo

I can’t help but wonder how Diane Fossey would feel watching these magnificent primates in their concrete jungle. I think I know but they have been hunted and killed like she was.

I find this to be horrible. I watch this group often and there's. Always a lot of stress fighting bickering.I think a couple of the more aggressive ones need to be removed and just maybe a couple of his sister's babies and one silver back because this is not working, this family does not get along.This group doesn't get along in the wild.For the most part they get along
