  • Security passcode key lockout or VATS on my 98 Buick LeSabre v6 3800 series 2. Changed plugs, wires, crankshaft position sensor, had no spark on either coil so I figured whatever supplied current to them had to be the issue Nothing worked until I filed down the key a bit.
Sorry about the low view, I'll have to check it next time, o well you got the point.... 😂 VATS PASSKEY BYPASS

Making of puller to get tip of steering wheel puller out of crankshaft easily avoided by simply leaving the main bolt holding pulley on to crankshaft in place. Just back it out until only a couple of threads are left to hold it in place and using the head of that bolt to screw the main bolt of the steering wheel puller against it. Doing this may require 4" bolts with 1/4-28 threads. Also, leave the tip of the puller bolt off and screw the flat end of puller bolt directly to the main crankshaft bolt.

Well the whole point of the video was to check the key first lol I didn't need to do any of it. There's many videos on how to get the balancer off I just thought I'd throw that into the video because of the bolt sizes and the fact I did it the hard way by thinking that was the problem. I'm hoping to make it easier on others by simply shining up their keys 🗝️ first 😂 or the transistor connection. If I'd of done that first it would have started.

Thanks for the heads up on the key. Mine had similar key/lock issues. I cleaned key and lock set to get current to go to starter.Put a new starter on it prior to key refurbish/replacement.
Glad I watched this video first.j kleff

You're 100percent right I have 1991 Buick Riviera that throws code 41 with that key but I cleaned the key with alcohol and it worked but sometimes still needs a jump

Did you fix it? I have a P1518 and a P0606 on my 2000 3.8 and it has spark and fuel pressure but no injector pulse. Still diagnosing...

Yes it was the key, I just sanded the black off and it fired right up after replacing all that stuff and diagnostics. I was happy and upset at the same time 😂

If it was the key security would flash when starting, don't throw parts trouble shoot the problem with a meter.

It was the key, if you watched the whole video I used a tester, this vid is meant to avoid all of it and just try to clean your metal resistor on your key. This is very old also, I have learned a lot since then. Also there was absolutely nothing on the Internet about this problem when I posted it, nothing at all.
