Good video. I'm trying to help my dad in Montana (76 y.o.) while I'm here in WA state. I'll have him check the fuses you suggested. One thing I would ad about your repair job: Whenever I encounter a blown circuit and can't establish why it blew the fuse I will typically install a circuit breaker instead of a fuse so that if it does happen again it'll reset itself and not leave my customer stranded somewhere. If it keeps blowing the circuit breaker then it's time to look for a shorted circuit of course. I actually think my dad might have a problem in the security system. I'll have to confirm that he's using a resistor key and not a spare key that doesn't have the resistor in it. It does crank through the starter relay but not with the key. Anyway thanks for the great video.
That's exactly what is happening with my 2002 Buick Park Avenue ultra. Battery is good, all lights come on but when I try to start the car, I get absolutely nothing, no turn over, no clicking sounds. It's just silent. I will check my fuses tomorrow. I was making sure my engine wasn't seized as I haven't used the car in 3 years but I still have 75% oil in my engine and after pulling inn the crankshaft with a socket wrench, I have Zero problems turning my engine clockwise or counterclock wise. Thanks for the video.
Saw your video and checked the relays. Swapped #1 fan relay for the crank relay and like bam!! She started right up. 2000 regal ls. I was thinking I might have to tackle the starter. Was a relief. Thanks bigly.
I LOVE my '03 Impala 3800. I got rid of all the plastic and crap gaskets after 75K miles. Took off that plastic warping UIM which was 1 of 2 reasons coolant got in your oil and replaced it with ut an L26 Series III Aluminum top that I sanded out the sand cast on it then mirror polished to chrome finish, a few other minor mods needed by pretty much a swap. But before that I took out the LIM to replace the gaskets from hell with Felpro's and now my oil doesn't look like Yoo Hoo. Next away with leaking PLASTIC coolant elbows, replaced with new metal ones, no more leaks! To avoid oil from yet again plastic valve covers and yet again crap gaskets, spilling onto the exhaust and causing the car & homes to burn down, in the garbage went those covers and junkyard aluminum valve covers from a 97 Camaro F-body went on with Felpro gaskets. Again sanded, buffed to Chrome finish. Just for fun I buffed and polished the generator and stripped my dog bones down to steel and polished those as well. Could have bought polished aluminum dog bones but wheres the fun in that. Replaced the timing cover gasket a bit later due to leaks, yikes the engine is a beauty to survive forever but the gaskets where just pure money making devices for GM dealers which never see my car anyway. Added a K&N high flow clamp on filter cold intake air filter and my own custom box built of plexiglass and doorway draft trim gaskets as the new UIM makes using OEM filter box impossible, Next up is removing the throttle body and replacing with an L67 supercharged version, which requires a MAF table change and soon I'll convert the trans to the HD version with a few internal component changes. My baby purrs like a kitten and will live forever, only 130K miles on my '03. I just love customizing it. Nothing should stay together or unmodified! Im even going to run it on 2 cylinders like you guys showed a South Main Auto!!!!

Heat cycles will always cause a fuse to go bad, not just sometimes (even thermal fuses, without there ever being a current overload). It's just a matter of how long it takes. Automotive fuses are time-lag by definition, so many of them will be briefly overloaded each time the connected circuit powers on and, as I've said before, many brief/small overloads will blow a fuse just as surely as a one-time dead short will; this is inherent in the fuse's design... one can't mitigate against 'fatige' failures without compromising the 'one time big overload' breaking capacity.
Very to the Point, following strategy based diagnostics, and also a general good methodology that you don’t “learn “ from strategy based diagnostics. And by that I mean you said let’s see why this fuse blew , and after a test of the current and verifying the fix, you didn’t waste time hunting an issue that may exist, yes, but it’s not apparent or current enough to warrant the time. Now if the customer came back in 2 months with the same fuse blown I’d imagine you would be Hunting the issue :) thank you

Hey, I have a 97 Buick LeSabre LTE And my security feature is on I out a new starter in the car brand new car still won't start! Everything lights up but I keep seeing the security light? Any ideas
take an ohm reading of the resistor plug in your ignition key, buy a risistor of the same value, find the orange wire running from the key cylinder down the steering column, cut it and expose two thin white wire splice the resistor in to the white wires leading to the module, start the car. you just bypassed the vats security system, your welcome
Like others have said find out what resistor plug is in your key and cut the orange wire coming from steering column and splice in the resistor that is the same value in ohms as the key plug into the 2 white wires Or you could just try unlocking the door with the door key
Not without further testing...a lot of things can cause a crank no-start. But I am sure you can find out exactly what kinds of tests to do right here on RUclips!
lol I actually used to work there part-time, then started my own business and they called me in for diags. Haven't been over here in a while now...maybe it's time for a visit :)
It seems like only illiterates watch your videos. Illiterates tend to be poor. Poor people often drive older cars. Old cars develop problems. Yet, generally speaking, these broke bastards are no more savvy or capable of fixing their own vehicles than the rich people who drive new cars and never have to worry about it... It's a rare individual who will take the time to read and learn, who will test and troubleshoot, acquire tools, and eventually fix it on their own. Take me, for example. My '93 Olds with over 250k has only been in the shop *one* time in the 15 years I've owned it, and that was to rebuild the trans.
You always make it look easier than it is, but I do love your contributions.

Hi there for the last 3 days I have the exact same problem my battery is 2 years old and I drove the car no more than 5 times I did start it up every month for 30 min since it’s a project car but my point is 3 days ago I wanted to move my car to the sec garage with heat in it so I can clean ntinue working on it
and the battery was completely dead so I hooked up a charger and charged it for about 90minm
it looked all good and I started it right up let it run for 40min went shopping and got gas I shut it of filled with new gas and went home next day I tried to start car was dead so I jump started it but cranked started and died than it wouldn’t even crank anymore only the security lights that stays on and when I try to crank it the red park and brake light comes on fuel gage goes all the way but no crank some klick under the hood and steering column
no blown fuses vat system my key is a 10 with 3.750
but when I checked the connector under the dash the wires read the key resistance from the ignition key
but anyway I did get resistors and got it almos perfect to that what the key is
nothing security light still solid on
when I open up the starter relay on the side by the foot wall and press on it and turn the key it will crank and start but die after 2 sec and when I jump it with wires no relay same story dies after 3 sec I did notice my battery now after being charged up all 100% disconnected from the car it will drop down to about 70 to 60% of charge wierd the bat is basically new fuel pump is working to I even tried to jump the safety switch but no results pls help I have no idea what the problem is the car is a 91 Pontiac Firebird 305v8TBI with 183xxx it cool st me well over 10K by now since I got it for 2.7K it’s a Knight Right det Replica that’s why such costs thanks guys for the help I n advance 🍺😎

What FUSE was this exactly?

+motoYam82 please help with any Ideas of you could.
+FarFrom HomeLove Scan the Vehicle Theft Deterrent module for codes.
take an ohm reading of the resistor plug in your ignition key, buy a risistor of the same value, find the orange wire running from the key cylinder down the steering column, cut it and expose two thin white wire splice the resistor in to the white wires leading to the module, start the car. you just bypassed the vats security system, your welcome
@@anthonyfalante5613 my 97 buick lesabre is doing this as well. And done what you said to. And its still not starting. Any other ideas please??
Like others have said find out what resistor plug is in your key and cut the orange wire coming from steering column and splice in the resistor that is the same value in ohms as the key plug into the 2 white wires Or you could just try unlocking the door with the door key
What is a PCM??
I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre that does this but it crank if I hold the key in the start position.some one says it's the ignition switch .
Someone is taking a wild guess ;)
motoYam82 well do u have any idea
Not without further testing...a lot of things can cause a crank no-start. But I am sure you can find out exactly what kinds of tests to do right here on RUclips!

@@shon9593 Fuel pump has nothing to do with cranking...
Kinda seems like you work on more cars at Absolute than they do..
lol I actually used to work there part-time, then started my own business and they called me in for diags. Haven't been over here in a while now...maybe it's time for a visit :)
In this case, they couldn't figure out that it was the flippin' fuse?!
i got Buick that does same think but die when i was driving n would not crank back up
Jaylon Pettus
Just had that happen . Did you found out what was wrong with it?
at 1:30 its call a AESWave uActivate Ultimate Circuit Breakout Box : you're welcome
Finding out what that thing was call was not an easy task lol
I used mine once, but now it just gathers dust on the shelf. Fused jumper wire and test light is easier lol

So where did all the 1987 Honda cars go? Hidden in every ones shop, or scraped due to shit design.
Should have rebuilt it yourself then. You shouldn't be so judgmental prick
