    There was a shit-ton of information in that 11 minutes!
    The cheat test for spark along with the pin locations for the connector was pure GOLD!
    Now I know which pins for certain. Pins N and P I think.
    My 06 Lucerne points me in the icm direction.
    Thank you!

    Good troubleshooting! I have crank no start on my 2002 LeSabre. I'll need to look at these connections. I changed crankshaft position sensor but that wasn't the issue. Glad I did as old one smelled burnt.

    Need new coil pack too. The module was drawing too much current because of a coil pack most likely. It need a few spares of those on had from the junk yard!

      I agree, I think those coils were new after it stopped working. If not it was a mistake on my part not to recommend it.

    I have a question why you didn't go for testing can bus from ignition control module instead of taking cam and crank sensors signals ?

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Год назад +1

      Thank you for watching! On this vehicle there is no Can bus it's a 1998. The module does send out a signal to the coils but the coil is mounted right on top of the module so there is no way that I know of how to measure that.

      I have bad luck with the Phil's probe, It's most likely user error but I find the needles get bent and they don't pierce properly.

    If the security system is triggered, it's been my experience that it won't turn over at all. The security system is easily overridden by disconnecting the wire from the ignition under the dash, then soldering a resistor in between the wires, mimicking the key. This will allow a "dumb" key to operate the vehicle. To find the appropriate resistor value, measure both sides of the the small black chip on the key with an ohm meter (multimeter).

    Could it have been the wires that connect the reference pulses from the icm to the pcm so the pcm knows there is a rpm signal

    Q..05 lesabre limited..replaced the fuel pump, filter and the fuel pressure regulator..Let engine run for about 30 minutes.. all is ok..Changed the oil and filter....ran for a bit...Two days later, engine will not turn over..Battery ok. Bench tested starter OK. Solenoid kicks in but engine wont spin...rechecked oil level...smelled gas on the dipstick. Fluid level was wayyy toooo high....drained crankccase. Removed the filter. Measured over 6 qts of fluid so apx 1qt of fuel dilution....The oil went in clean but came out pretty dirty..Crank shaft won't move...What caused the fuel to enter the crankcase??? Faulty new regulator?
    ANy chance to recover from this ?? Thanks from Titusville Florida....

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Год назад

      I would try taking out all the spark plugs and turn engine over by hand. I would think it's more likely a stuck open injector then a regulator.

      Thank you!..Plugs 1,3,and 5. so far.....3 and 5 looked fine. Soon as plug 1 pulled from socket more fuel spilled out. Pull the back
      3 plugs tomorrow. Can maybe pull the starter and get access to the flywheel with a good prybar...Maybe a socket on the crank bolt if enough access. Pan drain plug and filter still removed. Thank you ! @@advancedleveldiagnostics

    Question. I have a 2004 buick lesabre doing the same thing, did you have any check engine light on because i dont. Ive been told the crankshaft sensor but surely that would throw a code?

      @@advancedleveldiagnostics ok well thats good i guess lol. I just bought the car a 2004 buick lesabre. Drove it 2 n a half hours home with no issues. Parked it and when i went back out to start it, it cranks but no start. Pulled the plug wires to see if the coils would jump spark between them and theres nothing. It cranks for a few seconds, stops, then starts cranking again. Terrible i didnt even have it 24 hours. Fuel pump is working.

      @@advancedleveldiagnostics i found out what it was on mine, the igntion control module fried on 1 port, the male connector and the female connector on the ignition control module itself both have to be replaced. Specifically the end that fried is to the wires that go down to the crankshaft position sensor. Essentially giving it the same result as in this video.

      @@advancedleveldiagnostics A couple of years ago I bought a new AC-Delco ICM and two new AC-Delco coils for this car from Rock Auto. I put them on the car and after a week developed a misfire. I pulled everything off and put a Standard brand ICM and coils on it that I had and it's still working. I never tried to figure out what AC-Delco parts were bad and they are still sitting on a shelf.
