I think Ken left barbieland to become the driver and since he is some kind of artificial entity from barbieland, waited around until 2049 and became Officer K. Officer K=Ken
Ken left barbie land and went to the real world after barbie rejects him, and since they didn't let him become whatever he wanted in the real world, like a doctor, or a CEO, he became a getaway driver, eventually meeting Irene and falling in love with her because she reminds him of Barbie, and the reason why he's so socially awkward in this movie is because he's still adjusting and figuring out how people work, operate and speak in the real world. By the time it's 2049 he's fully adjusted and understands people enough, hence why he's not as socially awkward, but since he had to leave Irene in Drive, he's alone again, so he buys JOI, to try and fill that void that barbie originally left him with.

All these theories about how the characters are all the same person. I started thinking, what did Barbie have that Ken didnt? She was able to become anything she wanted. Ken, escaping barbieland, now doesnt know who he is, and the only model he has to imitate is Barbie herself.
