      I love my R9. its the original and so far, I just haven't see a bow worth switching too. The New R29 is nice but the R9 puts them down and that is what matters.

    I personally have a Barrus Oracle -X range finding scope and you can’t miss with that combo. The scope ranges your target, puts a dot in the perfect place every time! It’s a little pricy but it’s a blast to shoot when it’s this accurate at any distant all the way to 100 yards..

    • @timbertimeoutdoors9836
      @timbertimeoutdoors9836  Год назад +1

      That is a great feature. I have missed my mark a few times at deer in a food plot when I am unable to get a range on the deer. I am decent at estimating distance but when you get over 35yards, the bolt will drop a lot for every foot you are off in your assumption.

    Ravin owner and big fan! I agree with all your recommendations and strongly suggest the new string and cable every 3 years. I have shot all types of bows over the last 50 years and will tell you I have found the only broadhead that absolutely shoots like your practice tips every time! the Thorn Rift 2.2 inch crossbow broadhead absolutely is dead on every time. I also use a weapons mountable range finder. I replaced my scope mounts to one with a rail and now I can push a remote button range to target and know that i will hit dead on. This setup will allow you rife type accuracy at all ranges.

    Yep your video did fill in the void of what accessories I should have for my Ravin crossbow. I just acquired the bow about a week ago and haven't fored it yet. Thanks for the tips about the lighted nocks. The bolts are too dang pricey to mangle them up with pliars. I purchased the ravin sling as well as a soft ravin case. My bow cam with the scope unattached. Do you have any special tips when mounting the scope? Thanks again for the video and I hope to use my bow after I get some much needed chores done. 👍🏽🙂

    Wow I’m impressed you only had to change your string once in 3 years. I’m in the market for a new crossbow and can’t make up my mind which one, definitely like the ravins but was worried about not being able to change the string/cables myself but once every 3 years ain’t bad

  • @kovuk9

    Question sir, in addition to the limb dampeners, would string dampeners also help in your opinion? I know they are almost a must have in standard archery I am just wondering if you think it would stop some of the string twang? BTW I just got my R10 last night and am getting it set up as we speak.

  • @kurtglo

    How often do you use the serving string conditioner? I'm reading once every year, but I would think it would need to be done more often than that especially if you target practice a lot with your crossbow like I do- thanks!

    Do you feel like you can use non-ravin bolts and nocks? They preach that you should only use Ravin branded things......but they're so spendy

    • @azrefereeii1806
      @azrefereeii1806 Год назад

      Yes you can use non ravin bolts if the knock is correct.
      A damaged knock can simulate a dry fire and raven crossbows will come apart!

  • @deerreaper450

    I've figured the lighted nock issue out. Stop using them until someone has a better solution. You can buy 6 non lighted for the price of three lighted. I have reached out to nocturnal and hopefully they will get approval from Ravin to make them.

    I will say my string lasts about 3years before I have to change it with a ravin,
    One I don't like is the cost of lightest arrows. You can buy the non lit ones 6 for 80 and 3 lighted ones for a little more
    Makes it expensive if you shoot once and light goes out
    Rage broadhead are the most accurate for these 100%

    You know I have two of the Ravin r10 crossbows and everything that you showed on there is a great accessory for the crossbow except the lighted nocks it just pisses me off that I buy these 1 year and I go to use them the following year and they're dead and then you have to spend another 30 or $40 to replace the nocks when I think as much as you spend on the arrows they should last longer so I just used the why did Knox the crossbow is already sighted in for these but they will not light up and I am tired of buying new ones but for the money you would be better off using the arrows that come with the crossbow because if the lighted ones will not work you may not find them anyways

    • @timbertimeoutdoors9836

      Its defiantly fast. One think I learned is to shoot when their head is up vs down. Originally I thought is was better to shoot while they were eating but it is actually opposite. There first movement is to lift their head which drops their shoulders. Ravin is really good. I am still using my R9. No reason to upgrade yet. Just keep replacing the string. Works good.

    Nope. 400+ fps is too fast for deer to jump at least out to 60 yards. There are several videos on RUclips proving deer don’t move fast enough to jump the string out ton100 yards if using a 420 fps+ crossbow.

      I think he meant conventional, both traditional and compound archery relative to crossbow.
      But yeah, good ol' traditional archery does not have much, but there are some things.
      Have you seen Clay Hayes RUclips channel? Clay Hayes has THE BEST traditional archery hunting channel anywhere. He is all self-bow out of Idaho. Do yourself a favor and tune into his channel. His videos are unbelievable. He grew up hunting in the South and ultimately moved to Idaho. He is old school all the way and a great example of the American pioneer spirit. He also recently won the Alone television challenge. I don't watch T.V., but I heard about it.
