    Sitting here in Utah on a spring day watching people in Pakistan eat Louisiana food while listening to Jingle Bells. Life can be wonderfully weird.

    My mother used to make gumbo for my family and I have to say you made it look just like hers.
    Now I miss her. Thank you for your beautiful culture and people. I absolutely love you all.

    Hello from New Orleans, Louisiana. I love watching you all try our Louisiana favorites. I also enjoy that you all like shrimp 🥰. My husband and I catch them as our primary jobs. Well… we did before he got sick. I love seeing you all enjoy. A pleasure to watch. I saw the Jambalaya video before this. I am the queen of jambalaya in my family of 9 sisters. Also, shrimp dressing (stuffing) Mirliton dressing. I also make an amazing shrimp fettuccine 🥰. ✌🏼and enjoy. Louisiana sending love always ❤️🌹

    I love how they describe the food, and why they think it is unique. She remarked about shrimp and chicken together. We may take that for granted, but it is two proteins. So it can be seen as a feast for those who are of simple means.

    It's the rice. For instance my family is Scottish originally mostly but a lot of other stuff too and we grew potato's and corn and squash so we were not the best for growing rice. So Creole ( "a person of mixed European and Black descent, especially in the Caribbean.") is a lot of influences are like French and West Indies I think and a little Scottish or Irish or what ever. The place this food comes from is also a place that has faced a lot of death in the past so there is music and gravy yards and voodoo. There are strip clubs and booze joints. It's a place of salvation and sin. There are pictures of children that were panted after they died of a plague because they died to soon. In the face of all that tragic history they party and have fun. They celebrate Mardi Gras and that holiday is a show stoper. 🥳The food reflects how amazing this entire part of America really is. It's not playing.

    Gumbo is not from Africa per se; it is a clash of multiple cultures. African, German, French, regional Native American, West Indies, and probably others.

    • @FangOfLight
      @FangOfLight 13 дней назад

      Its roots are African, other cultures have adapted the recipe over the years. Most of the cultures you mentioned were colonizers lol, They took a lot from Africa.

    • @bunbun3000
      @bunbun3000 13 дней назад

      @@FangOfLight It has multiple roots from multiple cultures, not just Africa. You probably also believe, as some misguided others now claim, that the computer, light bulb, automobile, etc. were also invented in Africa. And please don't think there were not colonizing cultures within Africa itself.
