99 times out of 100 I would agree with making Brock vs Goldberg the Main Event. But given the situations, relative to the performers involved in these two possible bouts, I might disagree. And let's face it. Putting Jericho vs Owens on second was plain stupid.
Especially when you consider what they put on _first_ in their place- AJ Styles vs _Shane McMahon_ facing each other in the culmination of a fairly nothing feud with nothing on the line. Even if Jericho and Owens weren't going to face each other for the Universal Championship in the main event, them blowing off their heated rivalry in a match over Jericho's US Championship should still have taken precendence over _that!_
That year and all the work that Jericho and ko had put into it was booked ahead of time and with all his hard work he did on that amazing storyline was amazing and WWE dropped the ball on that one for my guy Jericho def thought for months it was gonna be ko vs Jericho in co kain event or main event i totally agree with jericho no doubt he was done wrong
Always thought that slot at Wrestlemania was a weird choice considering how over Jericho and Owens were - both of them in my opinion were carrying Raw each week. Getting main event might be a little ambitious, but I definitely think that match should have been way further up the bill. Can see why that would be insulting and frustrating during one of the best runs of your career
Truthfully, I'm a fan of both Lesnar and Goldberg but, I think making their match the main event was a huge mistake. Frankly, their storyline was chewed meet. Been there done that. I would have much rather seen Jericho and Owens in the main event.
Chris is One of the most consistant talented wrestlers ever like Randy Orton. They deserved so much more. Chris unlike Randy never had the size which is all that Vince use to care about.
Brock Lesnar is a guy you have to make serious concessions for or you won't get him. The part time schedule, letting him end the streak, putting a world belt on him as a part timer, pushing him continuously as a part timer, paying him huge amounts of money. Goldberg had his run and bringing these guys back was ALWAYS an insult to the full time guys who busted their tails ALL year long. It's called loyalty and if you don't show it to guys that have shown it to you then you don't deserve it. All you become is a guy that you say to "show me the money" or "I will walk." For enough money you can get anyone to come back, CM Punk for instance. Jericho could perform. Goldberg could not, Lesnar had the presentation and persona. The one thing they can never take away from Jericho like they took the streak away from the Undertaker was getting the spot of being the first undisputed champ when he won both world belts. Lesnar, for a guy they pushed so much as the "Next Big Thing" and putting him over a Hollywood bound Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and he gave that up to fail at trying out for the NFL and then ended up in UFC, he quit folks, no loyalty there, and in Vince McMahon it is always just looking to make money fast in an industry that lacks stars. So you step on and over others and throw Lesnar in there. Oh and he needs Heyman as a mouthpiece too. Be your own man, with your own legacy. When someone cheapens it walk away because it no longer is how far you yourself can go but how far someone will let you go. Rule 1 in wrestling, Vince McMahon is NOT always right. Just only always rich.
I think Jericho wasn't mistaken about what the placement meant. But, that said the business itself sells way more tickets with two wrestlers who really drive fan's excitement level to a frenzy. Vince had that with both Lesner and Goldberg. Sorry not sorry to Jericho, but your persona, and fan reception was good, but not that good. Regarding whether Jericho should have left WWE. That's something that includes a lot more factors than just a simple 'his ego was too big to stay' judgement... Moving away from a job that risks your long term health, is one very important consideration. Do you want to be able to move around and take care of things/yourself when you're really old? Many professionals in sports do, very often have to deal with a lot of health issues in old age. That's just one example of a consideration beyond just an ego thing, or 'I have went as far as I can in this business' consideration. So really, who's to judge Jericho on it? I do think that leaving as he did, and returning in the music entertainment industry wasn't a bad move. I like the music I have heard from Fozzy. The name itself has so much potential for presentation, rebranding as needed. It shows that Jericho has a good head about promoting a brand. The fact that he said in that interview, it's Vince's business and he can do whatever he wants with it... Shows that he understood the importance of showcasing matches to promote ticket sales... TBH, I don't think it was about ego, or a lack of understanding how things work over in WWE. Gaining reception from your target market... Which applies not only to wrestling entertainment, but really all industries... Very often, data collection gets delayed for various reasons... Which is probably why Vince changed it the week before... Because that data was taking forever to come through. So really, when taking the history into perspective. Jericho knew he had a good act, lots of fans, etc... But when you realize that, your presence got shoved into the background in favor of a bigger showstopper feature... It tells you that, you may have reached the zenith you're going to ever get to, at the place you're at. And what wasn't discussed in the interview that I heard, is that in professional wrestling... How much money you make, depends HEAVILY on how much you sell tickets with your act. So from a 'how much money can I make' perspective... Being at a zenith that likely won't rise beyond a second string act... Is a big consideration when deciding to stay or go. As I said earlier... Who is anyone to judge this? My OPINION is that I think Jericho went in the right direction with leaving WWE for a different venture. Jericho has always been a wrestler I liked, not necessarily my favorite. But he certainly has my respect.
Him and KO got the same treatment that Punk got back in 2013. That was history repeating itself. The Rock and John Cena feud in 2012 that carried over into 2013 didn't need a part 2 and the match didn't need the WWE title but The Rock convinced Vince to let him win it so him and John Cena could fight for it at WrestleMania. They screwed Punk out of his main event at WrestleMania. Same like they did with Jericho and KO. Brock and Goldberg didn't need the belt for they match like Rock and Cena didn't need the belt for theirs. It was about to happen to Cody until the fans hijacked WWE and we all know if they didn't and The Rock would've went on to face Roman at WrestleMania somehow the title would've made its way in the picture too. Everything we seeing with The Rock and Cody now had to happen because majority of the fans didn't wanna see The Rock vs Roman they wanted to see Cody finish his story. So WWE had to go another way because the fans hijacked every WWE show, social media and Triple H and The Rock's twitter and IG comment section
Shame Mania wasn't two nights back then, like it is now. Jericho and Owens could have had the emotional 'main event' of night 1 similar to how Zayn and Owens vs Usos did this year.
There were about 60-70 contracted wrestlers who would have died to have match 2 at Mania. That being said… at worst… Owens v Jericho should have been one of the last 3 matches. It was the best angle going at the time.
@@mr.awesome6011 any spot on the card is a good spot. Did Taker bitch because his matches weren’t the main event every year? He had like 3 out of 24. Not a moan.
The roster is really stack right now which is the issue. You got a place with a lot of big names, whats the chance of you even being up there? Bloodline and Judgement day are the main focus right now. You got Aj styles and Orton returning. CM punk is back you know hes gonna be main eventing or else he will cause issues. Everything else is just there to kill time. Christ isn't even on brocks level or even edge where if he did come back they will invest everything into him like that. I swear in light of events over the last few years with Vince, the man really did want to destroy his company before he died so nobody else could have it. The booking over the last decade is proof of this.
Talk about being a mark. I'm sorry, but there is no universe where Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens main events the same card that has Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg, Seth Rollins vs Triple H or Undertaker vs Roman Reigns on it.
forced to leave aew? probably cause he has swaying power. in wwe, he is given a script and have no say in where itll go. in aew he have some sort of power to reject or move a story toward a certain direction. hes not saying he want to be the top guy forever, he want some control of the story hes telling.
True reasons: 1. Tony payed him a stupid amount of money for far less dates 2. He can do whatever he wants with a spineless boss 3. He can still put on the facade of being a top guy even though hes in the WORST shape of his life.
Kind of ridiculous that Jericho thinks being 2nd match on the card is beneath him. If only he had a mindset to contribute to the whole show being epic, not just the opening and finale. Love Jericho but his logic is nonsensical here.
He didn't mentioned it here, but in some other interview he mentioned that Vince wasn't really happy with their WrestleMania performance and he mostly blamed Kevin for it. He said that being put in 2nd match on card, and combined with the fact that the storyline he and KO worked so hard for months, only to no avail, plus being replaced by a part timer and someone who showed up after like 10 years for the main event was the main reason why he left WWE for NJPW
the issue isnt that he was given a 2nd match on the card. it that he was dangle a top spot and than took it away from him a week later. it similar to if u won 100m lottery and they be like nop, heres 1000, take it or leave it. u still up 1000 dollars but knowing u couldve had 100m would make u feel a certain way. and on top of that, the guy that won the 100m hasnt bought a lottery ticket in the past 10 years if u know what i mean.

Even if Jericho and Owens weren't going to face each other for the Universal Championship in the main event, them blowing off their heated rivalry in a match over Jericho's US Championship should still have taken precendence over _that!_
After their first matchAt Wrestlemania 20, Brock and Goldberg had no business being on a Wrestlemania together, even if the match pleased people.
I love jerico n owens together
2nd match is pretty much the worst spot on the card
For Vince to go from "This is a Title Match, main event!" to the worst possible spot is not great👺
And then publicly claim it was "possibly the worst match in wrestlemania history" on top of that
@patrickevans9604 really?
Not the first time when some part timers stole the main event from hard working people resulting in someone to leave the company, if you know
Vince did a similar thing with his match against CM Punk(but this was done to annoy Punk, not Jericho) by booking Cena vs Rock as the main event.
RAW IS JERICHO!!!!
AET Legend Chris Jericho. TONY KHAN gave a ton of money to join AEW... He made AEW big..
Truthfully, I'm a fan of both Lesnar and Goldberg but, I think making their match the main event was a huge mistake. Frankly, their storyline was chewed meet. Been there done that. I would have much rather seen Jericho and Owens in the main event.

Goldberg / Lesnar feud didn’t need a title or a main event. It was a spectacle by itself
@@ryanwebb5082 agreed. Still, it was a lot like watching reruns over and over again.
it was garbage@@ryanwebb5082
He left cause he knew vince was gonna get caught
I remember his last days. Funny story with pen n paper in hand saying U JUST MADE THE LIST
Seeing Vince in the thumbnail just makes me think of J.R saying “look at em, what a sick sadistic son’ofa bitch”
Since I was 10 always thought he was mid. Nothings changed
You're entitled to your wrong opinion
Chris is One of the most consistant talented wrestlers ever like Randy Orton. They deserved so much more. Chris unlike Randy never had the size which is all that Vince use to care about.
Best thing to ever happen in wrestling.. McMahons are gone for good! That family is disgusting
brother😭 u were wrestling at WRESTLEMANIA
Fast forward, and he's still never been a face workd champion

IT WAS HIS COMPANY CHRIS.....WAS ,HE GONE
So just like with literally any pro wrestler ever. It's all about ego and being #1
You beat HHH as a baby face. HHH made Earl Hebner reverse the decision then fired him.
He wasn't a reigning champion. His title runs have all been Heel Jericho
@@RobMatton-c8g ok that was random, weird and made no sense. But ok
"I was forced" no you drama queen you left on your own accord.
Chris left WWE not was fired or forced to leave WWE
I don’t think the terrifier cameo was good
Yeah that was the start of Vince with his constant hard on for Brock Lesnar. Chris Jericho deserved better he's one of the greatest to ever do it.
Lmao, he's not even close. That's why he's in the minor leagues, wrestling in front of nobody.
Kevin Owens needs to come to AEW 💯
Jericho was supposed to go to TNA as they hyped him up & showed his music video, but, suddenly, it was never mentioned again...
Shame Mania wasn't two nights back then, like it is now. Jericho and Owens could have had the emotional 'main event' of night 1 similar to how Zayn and Owens vs Usos did this year.
ratings plummeted because of you marks
@@lobsterbob2023You just made the list.
It shouldn't be two nights now...
That's beside the point.
There were about 60-70 contracted wrestlers who would have died to have match 2 at Mania.
That being said… at worst… Owens v Jericho should have been one of the last 3 matches. It was the best angle going at the time.
But Jericho is a veteran who has main evented Wrestlemania. He deserves a good spot on the card if not the main event.
@@mr.awesome6011 any spot on the card is a good spot. Did Taker bitch because his matches weren’t the main event every year? He had like 3 out of 24. Not a moan.
Translation : AEW offered more Money 💰…You are welcome
where are hardy brothers jeff nd matt
But every guy wants to main event
He can now comeback like Punk and ask to main event night one of WM. Hell!, they even let Sami Zayn main event it.
Kinda like Kofi sadly, there was a time where he was really over and that time has passed.
That Brock vs Goldberg “main event” was lackluster anyway so I understand why Chris was pissed.
He’s absolutely right I still remember that great story
He would have made a great StarLord.
Clickbait. He wasn't "forced" to quit. Why lie about that? The man left on his own..
I love Maria Rosas 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
He can give what ever excuse that he wants to give but it goes that when you've been with the business for as long as Jericho been in there for people start to get bird of you so that's my opinion but I can honestly say I got bored of him so when his matches would start i would change the channel
WWE. YOU JUST MADE THE LIST!
Goldberg literally came in and ruined so many great feuds and characters in a short amount of time
I swear in light of events over the last few years with Vince, the man really did want to destroy his company before he died so nobody else could have it. The booking over the last decade is proof of this.
That's not proof. And it was that way a lot longer than a decade. 😂😂😂
I think Jericho would've been a great babyface world champion when he feuded with HHH in 2000.
He's capping. The real reason is Stephanie, like it is with over half of everything he does. He'll never get over it or over her. It's sad, really.
So, he wasn't forced, he decided to leave cause he wasn't getting what he wanted.
Which is good bc that era was only getting worse for wwe
Talk about being a mark. I'm sorry, but there is no universe where Chris Jericho vs Kevin Owens main events the same card that has Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg, Seth Rollins vs Triple H or Undertaker vs Roman Reigns on it.
Why isn't he forced to leave now?
forced to leave aew? probably cause he has swaying power. in wwe, he is given a script and have no say in where itll go. in aew he have some sort of power to reject or move a story toward a certain direction. hes not saying he want to be the top guy forever, he want some control of the story hes telling.
True reasons:
1. Tony payed him a stupid amount of money for far less dates
2. He can do whatever he wants with a spineless boss
3. He can still put on the facade of being a top guy even though hes in the WORST shape of his life.
Sounds like 100 % of people in the world are taking that deal …
I don't blame him. Vince has made a long known habit of tanking good deserving talent over his favorites he wanted to go farther.
Give me a break. Nothing he said was not true. Sometimes the truth is uncomfortable.
grow up you obviously can't comprehend english @@EvilGoatBoy
He quite literally proved it was beneath him. If Vince books that match even third to last wrestling may be very very different. Omega Jericho changed everything
I would rather watch Goldberg v Lesnar over any Jericho match

WWE isn't fit for wrestlers like that. It's basically Saturday morning cartoons now. WWE completely wasted Edge in his last run.
