I like how he speaks about his own behavior. I dont hear much bias in his words. In my experiences, honorable men talk about their mistakes like this. Proof that you get wiser thru life experiece, good or bad.
Kurt confronting his problems, admitting them, and not trying to hide who he was or what his problems were or the root causes, is what makes him a real hero.
I was driving an airport shuttle one afternoon and my passenger was already seated in the back seat (unusual). As I started driving, he told me he was from Pittsburgh. We had a fantastic conversation about Pittsburgh teams in hockey, baseball, & football. When I opened the trunk to gather his luggage, I asked, “ Are you Kurt Angle?” You bet he was, and we talked more. He asked me my name twice, and shook my hand again before departing that Easter Sunday. Wonderful guy, great spirit, authentic, and my favourite passenger on the shuttle to YWG. 🇨🇦
I'm glad Vince took him seriously when he said how bad he was. Plenty of higher-ups/corporate bosses wouldn't. I think Vince took him seriously BECAUSE we've lost so many greats. Glad Kurt is still here.
I honestly think Kurt might be my favourite wrestler of all time (i dont say that lightly), fantastic talent & a absolute brilliant human being away from the ring
I never understood why he went straight to TNA after quitting WWE. If the main reason for him quitting was the injuries and painkiller abuse, wouldn't you want to stay away from wrestling all together? At least for some time?
@@ResistingDeath fair point... if i remember it was a series of events where he got cheated on/divorced or something and wrestling became his crutch for survival. The whole perk angle era came out cause of that in tna.
Kurt made TNA look legit throughout the majority of his tenure there (which was difficult to do). But man, I honestly wish he would have came back to WWE much sooner and finished his in-ring career properly.
Kurt you’re a smart man to admit your problems and not hide there are times in life you have to decide what’s best for you the same as when you listen to your body when your body shuts down to tell you you have got to stop before you do damage to yourself let’s face it everyone has limits
Kurt always was one of my favorites growing up, he was a true hero. Not only in the Olympics winning that gold while wrestling with a broken neck over that year span during all those preliminary matches and then the Olympics themselves. NO ONE elae has ever sone that or will ever do it again. Not only that but im pretty sure no one has broken their necks that many times, not only in a 2 year span but ever...4 times in 2 years and 5 total....christ. That guys been through so much in his life, overcome his demons, had to experience his dear friend and mentor murdered in cold blood, by someone they both knew and trusted (which is how he ended up representing the U.S in the '96 Olympics), he's an amazing man. He knew how to work a crowd, he was a great heel and face when he wanted.
If this doesn't tell you about the character of Vince McMahon on top of the latest allegations, nothing will. Here's a man who has worked the likes of Kurt Angle, an incredible human being, to the point of wanting to kill themselves all for HIS product, greed & needs. Many weren't as lucky as Kurt. Wrestling has needed a union or some form of regulation dating back to the 80's, if not an off period in their schedule of a month or so at least. It's scandalous how these people have been treated over the years.
I get your point but I don’t understand how Kurt’s account here enforces any of that. From the sound of it, Vince was dealing with a perc’d out Kurt who didn’t even remember threatening him while high and then immediately released him when he told him about his problems. Hell I think I also read that Vince wanted to keep Kurt but send him to rehab to clean up and Kurt wouldn’t do it and that also contributed to him leaving WWE.
Actually, the end of the story made me respect the man. It isnt easy running a huge business. You will get accused by us smaller people constantly of your greed, malevolence, evil.
Such a genuine bloke… Amazing entertainer… he made everyone hate him… that’s what made him so great… Especially when he is actually such a lovely and incredibly likeable person
I remember watching TNA when Kurt was on it, but can somebody explain to me if he was going through all this to the extent he explains, why he just went to another company to wrestle there instead of stopping or really slowing down? Was it because WWE had him doing way too many house shows?
In TNA, you don't travel much, and you work 1/3 of the time you did up north If you're a big name, on the downslope of your career, its the perfect final chapter of your career
Just Look up "Perc Angle" when I tell you Kurt was on some impossible high risk shit, I ain't never seen my boi moonsault off the top of a six sided cage.
Its funny cause the match vs rey was said to be a loser leaves wwe match or at least that what was on the tv outside the rose garden. First time smackdown had a show in portland so glad i got to see it and the debut of miz tv
When these wrestlers say they were working 300 days a year, how is that possible? These shows are aired once a week so how are they working so many days? Do they also mean training ?
This, tapings, house shows, other appearances, speaking engagements, press stuff, training, going over matches, traveling, it all adds up. And they don't always travel by flight either... much of it is by bus if you're not on the top of that card. Maven goes into this a good bit on his channel.
Tbf, Benoit probably felt the exact same way when he was drafted to “ECW”. The show was interesting for like the first two weeks, then rapidly went downhill.
Wow ..just wow story from kurt😮😮😮.... straight fact story 💯...the part kurt said he want to kill himself ..remind me benoit tragedy...benoit should quit like kurt before he suicide
I don't think I'll ever understand why they put themselves through that kind of abuse, taking decades off their lives. What keeps them coming back for more? Like is it the roar of the crowd or something?
Kurt Angle was an incredible gifted superstar wasted on being the plucky comedian... I always felt he should of had the persona of someone like Soldier Boy in The Boys of course without the shield just the persona. a real mix between his movie Warrior character and Jake Roberts
