FYI Sam that fire sock on your head is supposed to tuck in to your fire suit for full protection looks a little goofy 😜 but great job ! Ps. Get you a cool shirt set up
This is why I subbed. Not everyone becomes a champion overnight. Love seeing your progress. Jumping off the deep end means there will be struggles. But in the struggle, we learn faster! And going faster is what we love! Go team Sammit! Great first FDJ2!!! Points on the board!
It was awesome seeing you qualify on stream, I think fd really dropped the ball on the layout, it seemed like even the pros were struggling from oz1 to oz2
Yeah most of them were used to the oz to a clipping point, but from what the commenters seemed to be saying is that they made the course to flow more like FD USA
@@Nate91EF I’ve never seen any fd driver (USA or Japan ) struggle with a track as much as this one . Even from a spectator point of view it looks very awkward.
outside zone 2 makes the track way too difficult, it should have been an inside clip on that corner instead, it would make the track flow much better going in the inside instead of the outside of the corner.
Nothing wrong with the layout perfextly fine and any driver with enough practice time could gwt a good line this is the same for sammt he has a new car and missed a full day of practice in time after getting to know the car and actuali getting a day of practice i have no doubt the bro would easily get top 16
So good to see you in FD Sam! One thought I had when you said about muscle memory, one thing you could try when you don’t have actual seat time, sit in your car with a blindfold on and practice your hand movements from the wheel to shifter to hand brake.. if you can get comfortable doing it without actually seeing where your hands need to be, you’ll end up so used to where your hands need to be you’ll have more time to focus on getting the car where is needs to be. I found when switching to VR sim drifting I had the same problem finding the controls, but now I know exactly where my hands need to be even though I can’t see. Just a thought
Having watched the whole Pro event it seems like everyone was struggling with that layout so i'm not surprised you did too with a brand new set up. Next time, Sam!
Ya, that course layout kind of made for a lacklustre event unfortunately. Still entertaining but not a lot of standout runs from a scoring side of things
Love the paddock environment, it looks like a family rather than a racing team, love the spirit, and hopefully you get more seat time and slay the next round!!!
Yes I've been waiting for this video. Your killing it. Congratulations for how far you've come. And I have to say, the Yashio factory pink and the livery look real good on the S15 and on the track.
This is where your saga begins! To have found out about your channel almost 2-3 years ago at this point through your content collaborations with LZ to seeing you now in Formula Drift Japan inspires me to do the same thing for myself through my channel! Im sure I can speak for everyone when I say we all have learned so much from the trial and tribulations you go through with each of your cars but you NEVER let it get to you and always keep the most positive attitude! Very excited for your Dream merch pack to arrive, definitely want to bring the same energy to each of my uploads! Go sammit-san! 🤙🏽
no one really shows the journey from the paddock to the burnout box. i really like it, its like when you're on an airplane taxi'ing down the runway the little nerves kick in before take off, i imagine its much the same for drifters, the little journey on the way out started making me alittle nervous and excited along with you, please keep including that shot in your videos
Complete attitude change man, you look a lot less nervous, you're having genuine fun and are humble, which really shows how much this means to you and how grateful you can be that others are supporting you. On top of all that, all things given, you drove well! Congrats.
Pretty incredible that you guys finished that car that morning! Definitely a team effort not easy to consistently make that many rips with that level of car. Once it gets dialed in, I know that things are going to go very well.
I’m just remembering back 3-4 years ago when you we’re working on the skyline and the chaser so and so fourth it’s just so inspirational to see someone I look up to so much thrive after all the hard work you put in daily it truly blows my mind and I hope Sam that I could be something like you someday 👑😎
One trick I learned that is key 🔑 to success is to get your mind empty, be totally in the moment. Some call it flow state, or alpha waves or whatever but basically what I do is “focus on the process” the only thing on your mind at the starting line is whatever you’re first move is, visualize it, I know the cars new but sit in at home and just pretend drive it until it doesn’t even require any thought, it’s just you doing it naturally. I bet that when you got to the start line for qualifying you we’re thinking about the people watching or something you shouldn’t have been thinking about at that moment. I used to do this and it’s always the same humiliating result. Clear your mind, focus on the process and everything else will come together. Hope this finds you well bro
You didn’t look to happy at the end of the video. There’s nothing to be down about. New car, new series, and you’re a new competitor. A lot of getting use to. Just like you said. More seat time. Get to know the car and then go rip. Good luck Sam. Keep up the good work and positive attitude!
Hey Sammit! RE your busted billet shafts! I broke custom billet shafts in my 6 speed conversion in my Pulsar that should never have broken! Turns out it was a manufacturing defect from not rehardening the shaft after a circlip groove was cut, resulting in a clean break the same as yours!! (And the new shaft I had made used a different process without a circlip groove anyways!) No guarantees that this is the issue, but in my experience I would say it was a manufacturing defect!
wow after a double axel break and some suspension changes getting a run down was pretty amazing. def a steep learning curve with the car being done that morning, but some of the practice runs were there! cant wait to see the progress before the next round!
Well done Sam and all the team. That's quite the achievement especially the quick turnaround time building the car and as mentioned zero seat time. Huge respect and love from the UK and looking forward to seeing you on the next round. PS get LZ to give you some setup tips on the 15 I'm sure your boy will happily give some advice.
The more I watch you drive and grow the more I fall in love with this journey. I know everyone is super proud of you and we're all excited to see what happens next!
Sam your journey thus far is incredible. Uprooting yourself from Australia to Japan whilst progressing with your drifting career sounds impossible, yet here you are gaining momentum. I think 09:29 sums it up well... no one else can do it like that
the coolant you have coming to your turbo from the rear head port. this is the hottest coolant point in the system, your iats are high because the turbo is hot af and most likely why it isnt spooling great during on off throttle moments. oem put the turbo coolant intake on the upper neck because its a coolest point on the engine when comparing cooling points. the rear needs to go to upper hose, rad with cv, or like oem or a swirl pot back to rad.
Oh ye he should pay someone to make an anime styled opening intro for his videos😂 (ps: if that happens I hope there will be a scene where he's carrying Okachan on his shoulders while pulling the S15 with a chain in his teeth)
Well done Sam, first score in FDJ2 and car look and sound amazing. From joga, walkabout at Shibuya, jump on Minami to FDJ this journey is epic. Keep up the awesomeness! CHEERS!
Watched the stream and I watched every driver have issues… keep it up, Sam! Once you get your seat dialed in and more seat time, it’s podiums all the way!🔥🔥🔥🔥
man is living the dream, getting closer and closer everyday. loving being able to see this awesome journey. keep up the good content! thanks for the passion and letting us enjoy the japanese drift dream with you
bruuhhhh 0.0 straight into FDJ2 in a whole new car?!?! from 0 seat time to a smoke show in a few practice sessions. sheeeeeeeesh lovin the new content GG bro and congrats on everything so far!!
Hi Sam, don’t normally comment on any vids, but I’ve been following you for several months now. Honestly, I was feeling very proud of what you have achieved in this journey, watching you in this vid hitting your first event I had goosebumps. I also have a Japanese wife and live in brisvagas. Looking forward to see how further you can go!!! Good luck!!!
This was so cool to watch! So much was learned from the experience! I think also getting use to the competition level and that mind set will take a few, both for you and the team. But such positive healthy vibes from the team as a whole and they just scream success! Can't wait to see what happen next!
I want you to know you are the reason I watched my first frifting competition. I really enjoyed it and was impressed with how well you did with such little seat time and basically a new car. Looking forward to the next round.

Incredible SAM! You made It happen despite of the set backs and time crunch. Car looks incredible!, 25th place not bad, for a messed up course. They should of made the como on a different course! can’t wait for the next competition 💪🏼 KEEP SHREDDING
Nicely done Sam given the lack of seat time and more adjustments and work needed to make the car a part of you. Dun worry you will do better as time goes by cos we and the sponsors believed in you
Even though you didn't qualify im so glad you were having fun! And for having little to no practice you did absolutely great! Can't wait for next round!!
Can we get a video explaining the rules and how the points are given for competitions? Car sounds amazing. Looking forward to more vidz with this beast.
You'll get them next time. Like you said you just need more seat time. All things considered you did a great job and good on you for not freaking out when stuff went wrong. You did look like you were having a blast though. Also you have a great team supporting you. Those guys are awesome!!!!
better luck next time mate, was disappointing to see you not qualify but a lot of drivers were having a hard time with the course. practice makes perfect, keep the grind up man you did great all things considered

I love okachan.. seems like a great guy that always brings good vibes
Mate I’m so stoked! No seat/practice time! 30min! You still went through it like a pro! Keep on doing it you will get there!
That was awesome you were able to drive at this event!!! Super impressive for your team to get the car ready to compete! Your gonna slay next event!!!
You need a Hans device brother , shredding at a pro level like this you wanna make your career/fun having as long as possible. I hated when we first got mandated to wear them. But now I won't hop on track in anything without one.
He's got one you can see it at some point when he's in the drivers seat
So proud of you and the team. It's a dream come true. Keep going guys!!!!!
The amount of support you have is insain, keep going sam you are killing it.
Keep giving them hell Sam. You'll be at the top before you know it. Just enjoy the journey!

Okachan not wrong with 4th zone. Less brake, more feathering of gas pedal on approach and initiate into a clean drift through 4th zone through finish.
