We took our £1000 cars RALLYING! With a small budget for modifications, we decided to blow it all on RALLY LIGHTS. Then headed to Silverstone Rally School to test them out on a real RALLY STAGE.
We only had £200 to spend on rally mods, but all of us decided to spend the majority of the budget on rally lights - with a couple of quid left for mud flaps and spring spacers. So we were ready for anything!

Budget rallying quickly turns into a 10k endeavour
This is hilarious. These kind of challenges are a testament to "You have more fun in a slow car going fast than a fast car going slow". Laughs all around and nothing but fun.

There is actual beginner rallies where you can't use a car worth more than 1000 euros. theyre rally cross most of the time but sometimes they have actual stages.

I think a great episode / series idea would be to have Callum and Will go off to a professional driving school for a week or two. Scott always seems to win these challenges based on his raw driving skill and experience, but I would love to see a video where the other two go learn as much as they can and compete head-to-head against Scott. Would be interesting to see how much they improve!
He usually gets nerf'd is some way with random or slower cars, etc to make it interesting. In this one the light and slow car worked really well over dirt, and fwd is quite good also.
Also, you won’t get near to Scott’s level overnight. James May was still the slowest even after being coached by sir Jackie

That KA looked insanely fun, way more playful than I would have expected from it
I had a Sportka for a couple of years and it was brilliant fun to drive around the twisty country lanes... I wish now that I had taken it to an off road track day place before I sold it!
Its not as bad as people say it is, sure it's no focus, but at least it's not a tesla
I used to attend a few rally meets in Ireland years ago and KA's were always popular with beginners. Not surprised it beat the subaru on tight circuit like this.

I had a first gen Ka, practically identical to that (even same color) and came here to see how much better it was than the others. The little thing had plenty of torque and very good handling. The lateral G acceleration it could face was a selling point at the time.

The Ka is secretly a good rally car. McRae used is as the basis for his own idea of a spec car rally series.

Absolutely LOVE this Video! My Mrs used to have a KA, I loved driving it, so much fun, could drive it full power all the time & never lose it like it was on rails...obviously very low power, but that increased the laughs

I wish these episodes went a little longer. Even if it's just talking to camera telling us what your going to do this episode.
This is easily one of the best videos on the channel. Keep up the good work and do similar projects. Watching you guys race budget cars around this rally track or the real racing track is always hilarious.
I'm looking for a Ka to make into a track day car. Because they share a lot of parts as the Fiesta of the time, the engine from the Puma will fit. The suspension and brakes will too.

@@wigglesphere2910 will do as soon as it happens. I've seen a road car version in a car show in Dublin in the last. The 1.7 engine and the Puma gearbox are pretty bulletproof, but the bodies are water soluble, so there are a lot of drive trains available.
Edit: The Ka is only marginally better at not melting, but better nonetheless. Lighter too.
I've seen some people on youtube using the Ka XR on track days, it's a sporty version of the KA. But I think it was only sold here in South America

Tbf the power to weight is probably decent and having a rwd short wheel base MG isn't great if you're not experienced on dirt

Love that 2 of you chose cars that were convertables which wouldn’t be safest choice in a roll but then put some epic lap time in against the scooby. The ka was definitely a good choice in that circuit. Crashes were hilarious as they didn’t even look like a crash more like he just drove it off😂😂. Great entertainment guys

I loved my 2 Kas! Both lowered with beam spacers & mk5 RS2000 alloys! Brilliant chassis dynamics & epic lift off oversteer!! No power, but an absolute riot on the ragged edge!

In my country they still race in rallies with the KA in one of the smaller classes against Clios, Corsas, Etios, some VWs and Peugetos. They're all small and not powerful at all, but they're quite agile and look really fun.

In Finland we Have Stock1000 Stock1600 and Stock2000 classes. On these classes you can drive with stock car, and can only change The suspension and of course safety Gear. I drove about 1500€ Paid Peugeot and it was still pretty fast.

well, the Ford ka was a rally car for the Carlos Sainz junior team, they were also used in Mexico in rookie rallies and it is positioned as a good option to start in them, So, I think we already know who has a chance of winning.

I did hillclimbs and sprints for a few years in a Metro GTi 16v which cost me £800. 2nd hand rollcage, new helmet and racesuit cost around 5 or 600 and then a few quid spent on decent dampers and bolt on engine mods. All in was around £2k and it was unbelievable fun. Motorsport needn't be expensive
The MG beating the WRX really showed why the mid-engined RWD Lancias were competitive even after the advent of 4WD in rallying. They didn't remain competitive for long once the 4WD systems got better but still. The KA destroying everything shows how important a short wheelbase is too.

Loving the content here as always. Though feel free to make them longer! This one felt a tad bit rushed with the editing, and I think it would be even better if it was a 20 - 25 minute video, or even a two parter.
