New Glock Model 20 Gen 5 10mm Pistol Review

- Here's one I've been anticipating for a while. The Model 20 is a large handgun and any reduction in the grip is welcome. The Gen 5 Model 20 makes it more shootable but yet gives you enough to grab hold of firing those hot 10mm rounds. Plus all the other changes that have been made to make Glock Perfection even more perfect. @GlockIncSmyrna #GlockGen5Model20 #10mm #Glock10mm
We want to thank Glock for sending the Model 20 Gen 5 and to Fiocchi for supplying our ammunition.
Big thanks to Fiocchi USA for Supplying our ammunition!

How epic would it be if Sootch came out and said, “It’s a Glock but in 10mm, the end.”
It would be a lot less work! 😂
Pretty much all that needs to be said…
Ah but they made so many changes!
Well done Sootch, enjoy the videos. How many times did you say predator? I counted 5. Brevity will make your efforts better. 3 times 357, 4 times revolver…
But then he wouldn’t make any money.
FINALLY!! Someone who realized the 10mm is NOT equal to 41 Mag, but much closer to .357 magnum!
Yes it's repeated alot, Colt on their delta elite model 10mm states it's 41 mag power, now with the right hand loads and a longer barrel it's possible to get 1000+ ft/lbs as I've seen a guy on reddit post his results recently and he's got some 155 gr. Xtps pushing passed 1000 foot pounds with his 10mm carbine.
@@Cant_Stop-Wont-Stop0329 totally correct 💯
41 mag packs a punch like mike Tyson ! 10 mm is no slouch either just lil softer .
With some of the bear loads, they are close to .41 magnum.
I have carried Glocks for years, I love them, they have always done what I bought them for.
When the 10mm first came out in 91, it was 4th hand and the reason was at the time I was in a small department the police chief got it, he didn't like it, kicked to hard for him. It went through 3 other officers they had the same issue. I got it for half what was paid new. I loved it and it fed .40s which I used for the range with only a very few jams using them. I kept it for 8 years and traded it off for a .45.
Which did you like better the 10mm or 45?
@@dmonster1528off shot of 10 and a 45. To be fair. They both weren't Glocks. Something about the 45. Always calls home for me though
My woods gun for years was a gen4 g20 and loved it, served me well. But as a lefty, I made the swap when it came out. Everything is as it should be now. Never gonna get rid off it.
My G40 MOS is my favorite gun I own out of ALL OF THEM
Naturally, l've been seriously thinking of getting one of these lately... thanks. I love your opening music selections.
Always entertaining and informative !
Love mine. Gen 3.
My first handgun.
I think I should consider gen 5 as red dot is where I have been changing to.
Just bought one! Similar to my Glock 45 I carried while policing. Bigger gun, yes, but very carryable. I have smaller hands, still feels good in the hand though! For what you’re getting capacity and power wise, great option for EDC.
Good review. Love my gen5 G20. Upped my game with a B&T USP kit and 30-round magazines!!
I had a G29 that I loved to shoot. This is the Glock to get but only because the 5.31 inch barrel version isn’t available. 10mm & 357 sig are two calibers I hope get more future gun options. Cheers
G29 under the Chin, great attention getter.
Carried Officers 45's for years, but when I read the Danish Sirius Dog patrol carried the 10mm as a backup for .338 to placate the white fuzzies.
I was sold.
I have the gen 4. I also have and prefer the 3.8" XDM ELITE . Size and reliability with an optic. A really fun gun
I enjoyed the finger groove and im not getting rid of my Gen 4
Didn't know this was out. Found out today and binge watched many Tubers, glad you have a review as they are always well done.
Surprised there's no mention of the failure to feed issue many people are complaining about. There looks to be some simple fixes though.
Always great reviews and videos.
I ran out and bought the G45 and the G47 to compliment my G19 based on your videos. I've been waiting on your review of the G20 Gen 5. Thank you.
Another terrific review. Thanks!
Love my G20 gen3sf. I added a surefire to it and its all i wanna carry now. Got the spectre light-bearing shoulder holster from gunfighter inc and im rolling heavy everywhere i go now! Love it!
Gat guns in Dundee Illinois has a manufacturer's weekend in March. Which alot of the big name companies come out with their newest firearms. That weekend myself and my friends all bought GLOCK pistols,. Showing the GLOCK Reps my receipt for my GLOCK 20 GEN 5 MOS they gave me GLOCK pack load with GLOCK merchandise. Not bad a for gun purchase, thanks for sharing.
Excellent review! Always got room for a new glock.
10mm Auto ❤
Awesome glock 20 10mm wouldn't mind having one thanks for sharing sootch00
You keep cranking out great videos, man! Thank you!
Looking forward to seeing you possibly doing one of the Sig 10mm! Maybe the 320, or old school, 220. Forgive me if you’ve already done a review on one or both, I just don’t remember seeing it.
Have a great weekend, and thanks again for all your time!
Thanks Ryan! I haven't reviewed the Sig 10mm but it's on the list. Anything 10mm is always welcome! I appreciate the kind words Brother!
I second these motions (good review of the Glock and it would be great if the Sig 320 could be reviewed).
@@sootch00looking forward to see the sig Xten review especially when they’re adding onto they’re 10mm models now with the new comp
I’ll be getting one of these soon
I own a 1st gen...bone stock w 3dot white night sights. Love it.
Very good review been wanting to see this. I have the Gen 4 in 10mm and love it. I'll have to check out the 5 T my gun shop though. Thanks
great review as usual,,,,,thanks
It will be nice when glock comes out with a performance trigger for this gun. I run one on my 19 and love it. Thanks for the review.
I have a Glock 40 mos and a Glock 20gen5 I just took my first whitetail deer with a pistol using my Glock 20 gen 5 . Awesome round and easy gun to shoot
Minor errata aside, great video as usual. Thank you!
man you and hickok make all calibers look easy to handle, i love it
I have the Gen4 but definitely going to pick up the Gen5 soon. I had a SIG moment and got their XTEN but I just feel more comfortable with Glock.
That’s absolutely badass Scootch!👍
Love my Glock 10mm's. Have all three models they produce. Carry the G29 regularly. Great little pistol once you upgrade the sights (and add some Talon grips) like Sootch mentions.
My G29 came with metal sights from the factory. It depends on your local FFL and how he orders Glocks for retail sales.
@@colt10mmsecurity68it’s so fun to shoot 🔥🔥🔥 if recoil doesn’t bother you it’s accurate asf . 10 mm or nothing
Good review!
Glock Gen 4 G20 is my do everything gun and by that I mean it will do anything I need for where I live in Wyoming. I am very familiar with this gun because I got used to it. I didn't expect the gun to be "comfortable" right off the bat because I figure the payoff is the power. Yes the mass does help with recoil as did a DPM guide rod! No optic because they can break and I carry it in the woods. Has never failed me yet! I have never found myself wishing I had a smaller caliber. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing. Set up for Underwood 220gr hard cast for woods defense.
Sootch I'm a longtime fan man and love every video you make brother. Keep it up. Also was wondering what fixed blade is that in the thumbnail? I'd love to get me one. Thanks again for all your hard work you do. Look forward to the next one.
Cameron
You shoot the G20 very well! Like your format and the quality is excellent. As always!
I'd like to see Glock make extended magazines for the G20. I have a couple aftermarket extended magazines but I'd like to see Glock come out with them. I'd have a lot more confidence in a Glock made extended magazine.
Kriss Vectra ext mag kit w spring works w G20 mags, 30 rds big sticks.
I have the Gen 3 SF and Gen 4 model 40 in 10mm and like both very well.
But I prefer the look, front serrations, trigger, and grip of the Gen 5.
I also prefer to carry my Gen 3 10mm into the woods with me over anything else.
Enjoyed the video, thanks, sootch.
What is SF? Are there any glock model 40 available in any caliber other than 10 MM?
@@JimzAuto SF means Short Frame and is described here 6:46 by sootch in the video above.
The model 40 is only available in 10mm but I wish they would offer it in .45 Auto and 9mm for the heck of it to use as a range gun. (especially 45 Auto)
GLOCK 31 GEN 5 .357
GLOCK Still Hasn't Made Yet😲
I saw online LWA 🐺 finally put out new Alpha model black 10mm converted barrels for the gen 4 Glock 41 .45acp series. I own a used Glock 41 and like the concept of adding a 41 size 10mm barrel. LWA or Lone Wolf Dist; old title isn't "great" in all honesty but for $100 or so, I'd give the 10mm a chance. I added night sights, Glock Store recoil guide rod, Vickers Tactical slide lock, magazine release, Glock Store metal slide lock.
@JimzAuto the 41 or 41 MOS is the larger .45acp caliber. Note; Gun Crafter Industries produces a after market .50GI you can quickly add to bigger 41s, 40s. .50GI is cool but 💰💰💰.
God, I love 10mm. Finally the Gen 5 is out.
Great video!
Gonna be my NEXT HANDGUN purchase!!! to go with other few GLOCK'S I have..!!
The 21SF vs standard 21 is a definite improvement
My cmmg banshee is a 10 mm u did a review of it then I ordered one, I love my glock 19 gen 5, I had a glock 20 just to big for concealed carry the new gen 5 glock 20 I'm gonna for sure check out. Thanks for your great vedios especially ....long live the republic
Hey, Sootch!
I opened RUclips and a was "not subed. to your channel'?????? Not a biggie We're back, dude! God bless you and your fam. Happy Thanksgiving from San Juan, Puerto Rico
Happy 248th Birthday to the USMC!
Very good. I just bought mine.
Im definitely a Gen 5 guy.
Since Gen 5 come out I finally decided to buy three G34's set up for home defense with stick mags.
I sold one to a 81 year old widowed Gma to have for home protection.
So now Ill buy this new G20 to go with all the manufacturers 10mm's that I have in my Collection.
Thanks for the review. I would suggest getting an aftermarket cut rifled, fully supported barrel so you can shoot the heavy hard cast bullets. Especially if you are carrying it for bear protection. The hard cast bullets will give higher velocity for the same pressure over jacketed bullets and tends to penetrate in a straight line.
I have had this gun for a few months now, so far it's been great but I haven't shot it tons yet.
I hope they make a Glock performance trigger for the .40 cal and 10mm. It makes the G19 shoot much easier for my quadriplegic hands.
I love mine, gen 5 is definitely the best imo. Also, at least with mine, it's 16+1.
There is always something special about 10mm because it hits louder than my Prostate Thank you for a good episode 👍 Greetings from Sweden Stockholm 🇸🇪❤️🇺🇲😂
@perhaglind7142 : Can u have/carry handguns in Sweden, sir ?
@@fehlrock @fehlrock Yes, it is legal to carry weapons in Sweden as well, but you must have a special reason to apply for a weapons license, such as a threatening image towards yourself or if you are a rich businessman, for example.
Praying for you rob!
I've always leaned more towards M&P compared to Glock when it comes to 9mm, but there is A LOT to like about the Glock 20. I'm biased towards revolvers and .357, but 15 rounds of 10mm can be just as devastating to the point to where I've considered getting one myself. I wouldn't mind having one of those Hipoint 10mm carbines to go with it.
Great video! Gen 5 is a single pin 10mm vs the 2 pin Gen 3 & 4. I thought the 2 pin was a “durability” requirement due to the high pressure 10 mm load. Just wondering how it will hold up in the long run.
I have wondered the same thing…..
Redesign the locking block. Maybe?
We load the 200 and 220 Hardcast at 700 FPE in Alaska for G20 for trail pistol ! Even Underwood 220gr is only a Full Power Load and 200gr Hardcast is medium load. To unleash the beast you have to reload the 10mm.
Glock 20 Gen5 MOS is incredible
😂😂😂
Is the Glock 20 gen 5 without any back straps attached the same as a slim frame? Awesome review of Glock 20 gen 5….I love my Glock 29SF gen 3 and thinking about adding the 20.
Love mine and really enjoy your reviews. But, there is one glaring error I want to address. 10mm, 40s&w, 9mm, 45ACP, virtually all auto cartridges headspace on the case mouth, not the extractor. That’s why when you reload, you taper crimp and not roll crimp the bullets. Yes you might be able to shoot a 40s&w out of a 10mm, but the only thing keeping the round from going to far in the chamber is the extractor. If for some reason it doesn’t get a good grip on the round as it is chambered, you’re going to end up with a disabled firearm. If you want to test this, remove the barrel from the Glock. Drop in a 10mm round and see where it stops. Remove the round and drop in a 40s&w and make note of where it stops.
The other issue is, when the extractor is the only thing holding the round in place, it is taking the full force of the striker or hammer blow, and the resulting recoil of the discharge. That’s a lot of excess wear on the extractor and could result in premature failure.
That settles it for me. I was going to try .40s&w in my M&P 2.0 and my Glock 21. Now I'm not going to bother.
Makes sense
Oh yeah, I'm gonna need this one 😎
I'll stick with my 229 and 14 + 1 of 357sig. And I have the 40S&W barrel, there's not much 15rnd of 357sig can't take care of. But not a hater it is a badass pistol 🔫
I don't know about your area but gun stores in my area don't stock .357 sig. 10mm,.40 S&W, and .45 ACP are always there though.
@@m.w.2401 I can find it easy enough, and I reload
I have the Gen 3 SF I love it's a sweet pistol I've shot it regularly and single handed with right hand left hand I don't have any issues or negatives with gonna be getting a bunch of after market parts including the Guncrafter Industries 50GI conversion kit I actually wanted the original Glock 20 Gen 3 not to SF because I was going to get some aftermarket slides I just hope the after market slides still fit the SF model
Da gum! Glock didn't waste no time in coming out with a gen 5 10mm. Nice
You go old man 👍
Nice pistol to own 👌👍❤
If you set the trigger after each shot, your accuracy will improve as you will minimize the movement caused by "slapping" the trigger.
Sweet recoil
Thanks for the review, very week done. Do you know if after market barrels from a gen4 would work in the gen5?
Glock perfection
That has a helluva gap between the frame and slide. I know they all do but that one is very noticeable
Yea I saw that shit too. That's extremely noticable, when he was firing my eyes were instantly drawn to that gap.
Just bought a Gen 4 because of that very issue. I don't need the extra gap for camp dust or grit to settle in. A Alaska guide told me to stick with Gen 4. Gen 5s are having hiccups in the woods.
Still rocking the gen 4 20 and 21. I do like my gen G19 with the halosun.
Which do you prefer out of the 20 and 21?
Hey Don: I have noticed for months now that when you and Robbie do live streams or even in any videos you do, you don't talk about Wheaton Arms anymore (Robbie's business). Maybe I missed a few episodes where it was mentioned. I was curious if Robbie still had the business. Great video on the 10mm btw!! I used to own a G20-C gen 3, it was a large frame. Great gun. Thanks. Patrick
"I gotta hear that wonderful reset every time".
I have that same knife as you in the thumbnail!
I am thinking to get a 20 or a 40 I haven't decide yet what to choose. Just to use it as a side arms when I get to hunt cause there are bears on the area.
Waiting on the gen 5 Glock 40 and 35.
Pls tell me what knife that is in the thumbnail. And as always keep these great videos coming!
With a carbine conversion kit this could be pretty awesome truck gun
The gun that got me to like Glocks
Nice gun, i heard that the 10 mm is a very strong caliber, strong enough to kill a bear or other big animal. One more thing Sootch, when will you test the Henry 357 revolver?
Yes, 10mm will handle a bear and other large game. Very similar to .357 Magnum. I've been waiting on the Henry Revolver ever since I saw it at NRA.... hopefully soon! Thanks Joao!
10mm is awesome
I been waiting for a sootch gen 5 10mm review. Turned out I was late to the party.
Thanks Sootch!
This with a Trijicon RCR would be the ultimate woods carry gun.
The FBI used the S&W 1076, not the Glock 20.
Then they cried all the way home and douched to calm down and relax/recover from the big bad 10 😆🤣🤣🤣
Also fbi carried HK MP5 in 10MM
Great video. Whats the knife in the thumbnail?
300 shoots so far in my Gen 5 and Zero Problems, i like it
My Glock 20 is one of my favorite pistols
Nice! Random question, what knife is that in the thumbnail picture?
I bought this for my son! Right out of the box, this Glock 20 is the best freaking shooting handgun! The weight is perfect for the caliber. It's just a pleasure to shoot!
I’m interested in getting a G20 soon but I think I may get a Gen 4 because it’s easy to find a 6” barrel for it as well as other aftermarket parts.
I have a Gen2 Glock 20 and I purchased a 6" barrel for it not long ago, 2 years or so. It's an Alpha Wolf barrel. I believe it also fits Gen3 Glocks. I wasn't aware that I could get one most any length from KKM at the time or I would have gotten a KKM. I did get the Alpha Wolf new for a fairly low price. I have a 1/2" over stock length 10mm KKM barrel in the G20 under normal circumstances currently.
I have the G 40 and I prefer that one
another great video, i own the G20 Gen 5 and it is a shooter for sure. want a second slide, any ideas where i can get an incomplete G20 gen 5 slide? or what do i have to do to make a G20 gen 3 work on it?
Hey guys Glock changed the entire industry with the new complete redesign glock 49 mos 😂😂😂
I enjoy your videos, just watched the Glock 29 video, I got my 29SF for the same uses that you mention.
Glock 20 10mm was actually a Generation 2 when first released, I know this as I still have the Gen2 Glock 20 from back in ~1992 when I was working at a full-service gun shop. Full sized fat grip, no finger grooves, 3-pin. This was my first Glock. Absolutely love 10mm. That pistol accompanied me while hunting in state and out of, and all over the property in the boonies where I lived for 20 years, And on many camping/exploration trips in the southwestern states.
I have a Gen3 G-21SF now aside from others. I can swap the Gen2 10mm complete slide assembly onto the Gen3 .45acp frame and enjoy the SF style frame now with the 10mm, which is a great bonus.
If I remember correctly it is the Only backup weapon the Danish Sirius dog patrol uses as a backup to the .338 Lapua, For the Intolerant wandering polar bear stop.
I was watching your video of the Gen4 model 20 and there seems to be noticeably more muzzle flip in the Gen 5. Probably hard to tell on video, but sure seems that way. I own the Gen4 20 and 29 and wanted to get the Gen 5. Thanks for your review.
Get the G40 with 6.02" barrel and sell your 20 and 29. It's way more fun, softer, longest sight radius. Maximize the ballistics.
Is this a good backcountry gun?
"PLUS 10MM IS JUST COOL" hehehe, funny 😂
I still have my Bren Ten and an original Delta Elite.
