My woods gun for years was a gen4 g20 and loved it, served me well. But as a lefty, I made the swap when it came out. Everything is as it should be now. Never gonna get rid off it.
When the 10mm first came out in 91, it was 4th hand and the reason was at the time I was in a small department the police chief got it, he didn't like it, kicked to hard for him. It went through 3 other officers they had the same issue. I got it for half what was paid new. I loved it and it fed .40s which I used for the range with only a very few jams using them. I kept it for 8 years and traded it off for a .45.
Yes it's repeated alot, Colt on their delta elite model 10mm states it's 41 mag power, now with the right hand loads and a longer barrel it's possible to get 1000+ ft/lbs as I've seen a guy on reddit post his results recently and he's got some 155 gr. Xtps pushing passed 1000 foot pounds with his 10mm carbine.

@@JimzAuto SF means Short Frame and is described here 6:46 by sootch in the video above. The model 40 is only available in 10mm but I wish they would offer it in .45 Auto and 9mm for the heck of it to use as a range gun. (especially 45 Auto)

Love mine and really enjoy your reviews. But, there is one glaring error I want to address. 10mm, 40s&w, 9mm, 45ACP, virtually all auto cartridges headspace on the case mouth, not the extractor. That’s why when you reload, you taper crimp and not roll crimp the bullets. Yes you might be able to shoot a 40s&w out of a 10mm, but the only thing keeping the round from going to far in the chamber is the extractor. If for some reason it doesn’t get a good grip on the round as it is chambered, you’re going to end up with a disabled firearm. If you want to test this, remove the barrel from the Glock. Drop in a 10mm round and see where it stops. Remove the round and drop in a 40s&w and make note of where it stops. The other issue is, when the extractor is the only thing holding the round in place, it is taking the full force of the striker or hammer blow, and the resulting recoil of the discharge. That’s a lot of excess wear on the extractor and could result in premature failure.
I have glock guns in 10mm I would never fire 40 s&w out of it. That's what my 10 different 40s&w guns are for.it ain't like shooting 5.56 or 223 just don't do it please.

@@fehlrock @fehlrock Yes, it is legal to carry weapons in Sweden as well, but you must have a special reason to apply for a weapons license, such as a threatening image towards yourself or if you are a rich businessman, for example.
Great video! Gen 5 is a single pin 10mm vs the 2 pin Gen 3 & 4. I thought the 2 pin was a “durability” requirement due to the high pressure 10 mm load. Just wondering how it will hold up in the long run.
I've always leaned more towards M&P compared to Glock when it comes to 9mm, but there is A LOT to like about the Glock 20. I'm biased towards revolvers and .357, but 15 rounds of 10mm can be just as devastating to the point to where I've considered getting one myself. I wouldn't mind having one of those Hipoint 10mm carbines to go with it.
For All the people who hated on Glock over the years, All i have to say is that they've finally achieved "perfection". The Gen 5 is the apex of the Glock family, and I can't wait to get my hands on one 💯

It will continue to be their weak point. Don't give me the ol if ain't broken line. With that logic, Honda and Toyota would still be making 80s and 90s models. Fact.
Just purchased a G29 Tuesday, haven’t messed with a 10mm in six or seven years. How do you break a Glock sight? I’ve been messing with Glocks since 1991. I’ve never seen a broken Glock sight

Thanks for the review. I would suggest getting an aftermarket cut rifled, fully supported barrel so you can shoot the heavy hard cast bullets. Especially if you are carrying it for bear protection. The hard cast bullets will give higher velocity for the same pressure over jacketed bullets and tends to penetrate in a straight line.
a chambered 10 mm is 3 1/4 inch of travel in a 4.6 inch barrel, a 41 mag the energy stats are from long barrels, but you add more barrel length from bullet set back into the cylinder so a 5 inch 41 mag barrel it becomes possibly 5.5 so the 10 mm does get into 41 mag territory at even 3 1/4 inch of travel, can get up to 800 ft/lbs of energy, so the 10 mm for it's shorter travel unlike the 357 and 41 mag being longer barrels needs to be considered to be fair, a 10 mm and a 41 mag in equal bullet travel distance the 41 mag will still be more but the 10 mm not far behind and in 41 territory, so that's what guys mean about 10 mm being in 41 mag range, they didn't say it was equal, here is the proof and this is a 5 or 6 inch barrel of a 41 mag, the energy you will see is the energy a 10 mm can reach even with 3 1/4 inches bullet travel.... 41 Remington Magnum Grain Weight 210 Grains Muzzle Velocity 1240 Feet Per Second Muzzle Energy 717 Foot Pounds Bullet Style Semi-Jacket Hollow Point Bullet Brand And Model Remington Core-Lokt
I enjoy your videos, just watched the Glock 29 video, I got my 29SF for the same uses that you mention. Glock 20 10mm was actually a Generation 2 when first released, I know this as I still have the Gen2 Glock 20 from back in ~1992 when I was working at a full-service gun shop. Full sized fat grip, no finger grooves, 3-pin. This was my first Glock. Absolutely love 10mm. That pistol accompanied me while hunting in state and out of, and all over the property in the boonies where I lived for 20 years, And on many camping/exploration trips in the southwestern states. I have a Gen3 G-21SF now aside from others. I can swap the Gen2 10mm complete slide assembly onto the Gen3 .45acp frame and enjoy the SF style frame now with the 10mm, which is a great bonus.
If I remember correctly it is the Only backup weapon the Danish Sirius dog patrol uses as a backup to the .338 Lapua, For the Intolerant wandering polar bear stop.
I own the G20 Gen4 I changed the barrel so it wouldn’t destroy my Brass I do all my reloading for my 10mm The price of Brass has went from $0.07 cents to $0.17 cents. To be honest I’m just getting tied of chasing Brass The 20 is my favorite pistol to shoot but if you real like to shoot a lot it can get really expensive in a hurry. You’ll be lucky to find 1/2 of your brass I’m going to a revolver. I’m just tired of chasing Brass. But I’m pretty sure most of you don’t shoot a hundred rounds a week
I owned a new Glock Grey(factory grey) in 2017, Glock 20 10mm gen 4. The 10mm fed & cycled factory rounds with no problems. I used Hornady Critical Duty & XTP 155gr. I bought a Storm Lake barrel, .40 for cheaper practice-range.
I was thinking about buying the gen4 model 40, but I bought the model 34 Gen5. (Great gun!) The gen5 features are much nicer. Yeah, it's not a 10mm I know, but ammo cost was another reason. But when they release the Gen5 model 40 I got to have one.
Nice gun, i heard that the 10 mm is a very strong caliber, strong enough to kill a bear or other big animal. One more thing Sootch, when will you test the Henry 357 revolver?
Yes, 10mm will handle a bear and other large game. Very similar to .357 Magnum. I've been waiting on the Henry Revolver ever since I saw it at NRA.... hopefully soon! Thanks Joao!
Ballistics are a great indicator, but the experience of being shot can't be reduced to studies of gelatin. Intuitively we understand that more energy commands more attention from the intended target. 10mm is an attention grabber.
"40 cal. is just a necked down ... 10 mm ..." Actually, NO. Although we know what you mean, that language is 100% incorrect. A 357 sig is a necked down 40 cal. casing with a 9 mm bullet. That is not the same for 40 cal. and 10 mm; in that case the bullet casing is shorter on the 40 cal. than the 10 mm. A similar example and relationship is 380 acp and 9 mm. A 380 acp is basically a 9 mm "kurz" or "short".
I'm really looking forward to your X-Ten review.! I purchased a new one a month after release and I really like it, I just put hollow points threw it last weekend, zero issues no malfunctions. Thanks Ryan! I haven't reviewed the Sig 10mm but it's on the list. Anything 10mm is always welcome! I appreciate the kind words Brother!
I second these motions (good review of the Glock and it would be great if the Sig 320 could be reviewed).
@@sootch00looking forward to see the sig Xten review especially when they’re adding onto they’re 10mm models now with the new comp
There is always something special about 10mm because it hits louder than my Prostate Thank you for a good episode 👍 Greetings from Sweden Stockholm 🇸🇪❤️🇺🇲😂
@perhaglind7142 : Can u have/carry handguns in Sweden, sir ?
@@fehlrock @fehlrock Yes, it is legal to carry weapons in Sweden as well, but you must have a special reason to apply for a weapons license, such as a threatening image towards yourself or if you are a rich businessman, for example.
Awesome glock 20 10mm wouldn't mind having one thanks for sharing sootch00
I have the Gen4 but definitely going to pick up the Gen5 soon. I had a SIG moment and got their XTEN but I just feel more comfortable with Glock.
The 21SF vs standard 21 is a definite improvement
Great video! Gen 5 is a single pin 10mm vs the 2 pin Gen 3 & 4. I thought the 2 pin was a “durability” requirement due to the high pressure 10 mm load. Just wondering how it will hold up in the long run.
I have wondered the same thing…..
Redesign the locking block. Maybe?
The FBI used the S&W 1076, not the Glock 20.
Then they cried all the way home and douched to calm down and relax/recover from the big bad 10 😆🤣🤣🤣
Also fbi carried HK MP5 in 10MM
I've always leaned more towards M&P compared to Glock when it comes to 9mm, but there is A LOT to like about the Glock 20. I'm biased towards revolvers and .357, but 15 rounds of 10mm can be just as devastating to the point to where I've considered getting one myself. I wouldn't mind having one of those Hipoint 10mm carbines to go with it.
Happy 248th Birthday to the USMC!
For All the people who hated on Glock over the years,
All i have to say is that they've finally achieved "perfection".
The Gen 5 is the apex of the Glock family, and I can't wait to get my hands on one 💯
Wrong. Again.😅
@@DS..69 sales numbers don't lie.
Guess you're wrong, indeed.
@@SaleemMusawwir People buy what we COPS have, fact. Fortunately alot of Departments are getting away from Glock. LAPD, TEXAS RANGERS, CHP, MASSACHUSETTS STATIES, DETROIT METRO, just to name a few major Departments. The list will grow. Glock is no doubt reliable. Innovation is their weak point. It will continue to be their weak point. Don't give me the ol if ain't broken line. With that logic, Honda and Toyota would still be making 80s and 90s models. Fact.
@@DS..69triggered
No gun is perfect
If you set the trigger after each shot, your accuracy will improve as you will minimize the movement caused by "slapping" the trigger.
Considering buying this, I carry the Glock 19 Gen 5 but would prefer something with more power. Thanks for the review.
Always entertaining and informative !
man you and hickok make all calibers look easy to handle, i love it
Just purchased a G29 Tuesday, haven’t messed with a 10mm in six or seven years. How do you break a Glock sight? I’ve been messing with Glocks since 1991. I’ve never seen a broken Glock sight
Your right, people just regurgitate what they hear other dopes say about the Glock sights.
I hope they make a Glock performance trigger for the .40 cal and 10mm. It makes the G19 shoot much easier for my quadriplegic hands.
I was working at my boss man's house cleaning it out from the last person that lived there and found a Glock 29 10 mm under the waterbed mattress i love it ..
Minor errata aside, great video as usual. Thank you!
Why does everyone bash the polymer sights, I’ve never had and of them break, but then again, I don’t use my gun to hammer nails in…🤦🏻♂️
This will be my EDC I'm always on the road, always leaving very early and coming back very late so I think this would be very beneficial. Can't wait to get out of layway
Still rocking the gen 4 20 and 21. I do like my gen G19 with the halosun.
Which do you prefer out of the 20 and 21?
Glock perfection
Hey guys Glock changed the entire industry with the new complete redesign glock 49 mos 😂😂😂
41 Remington Magnum
Grain Weight 210 Grains
Muzzle Velocity 1240 Feet Per Second
Muzzle Energy 717 Foot Pounds
Bullet Style Semi-Jacket Hollow Point
Bullet Brand And Model Remington Core-Lokt
The timing for review is uncanny. JUST started looking for one as hiking carry
I like the new FN 10mm MRD model. FDE color; brown-tan. Some dislike the MRDs but the 10mm looks ✅️.
I own the G20 Gen4
I changed the barrel so it wouldn’t destroy my Brass
I do all my reloading for my 10mm
The price of Brass has went from $0.07 cents to $0.17 cents.
To be honest I’m just getting tied of chasing Brass
The 20 is my favorite pistol to shoot but if you real like to shoot a lot it can get really expensive in a hurry. You’ll be lucky to find 1/2 of your brass
I’m going to a revolver. I’m just tired of chasing Brass.
But I’m pretty sure most of you don’t shoot a hundred rounds a week
Not kidding I was the very first to get this gun and review it on RUclips. It never had a malfunction yet it became my favorite.
Mine has nit malfunction at all
My absolute favorite pistol and caliber, perfection
I owned a new Glock Grey(factory grey) in 2017, Glock 20 10mm gen 4. The 10mm fed & cycled factory rounds with no problems. I used Hornady Critical Duty & XTP 155gr. I bought a Storm Lake barrel, .40 for cheaper practice-range.
Perfection ? 😂 have you not saw the issues with these gen 5 10s ?? 😂 do more research
@@gastondraco5906ive seen one person have issues and once he factory grease was removed and cleaned it ran perfectly fine.
I'm hoping they come out with the G40 Gen5 soon.
I have a gen 4. I love it. It needs a better trigger but it is what it is.
Da gum! Glock didn't waste no time in coming out with a gen 5 10mm. Nice
I must admit the Glock looks allot better than the previous Gens.
300 shoots so far in my Gen 5 and Zero Problems, i like it
Excellent review! Always got room for a new glock.
Very good review been wanting to see this. I have the Gen 4 in 10mm and love it. I'll have to check out the 5 T my gun shop though. Thanks
Ballistics are a great indicator, but the experience of being shot can't be reduced to studies of gelatin. Intuitively we understand that more energy commands more attention from the intended target. 10mm is an attention grabber.
Nice pistol to own 👌👍❤
I’ll be getting one of these soon
"40 cal. is just a necked down ... 10 mm ..."
Actually, NO.
I've heard rumors that Shadow Systems will be releasing a 10mm pretty soon. I'm holding off until I see that.
Start stockpiling 10mm ammo now for the break in period...😂
I have the 20 and 29 (both Gen 4). If you need optics ready with a 10mm, you need glasses
A lot of us need optics ready because we wear reading glasses.
FBI did not go with the Glock 20. They picked the S&W 1076. The only other gun they had in 10mm was the MP5/10.
This with a Trijicon RCR would be the ultimate woods carry gun.
I'm really looking forward to your X-Ten review.!
I purchased a new one a month after release and I really like it, I just put hollow points threw it last weekend, zero issues no malfunctions.
Glock really gets worshipped for 10mm (and everything else) but I've never liked the grip, so I bought the Sig X-Ten, I'd love a comparison of the two also! Good video, thanks!
My cmmg banshee is a 10 mm u did a review of it then I ordered one, I love my glock 19 gen 5, I had a glock 20 just to big for concealed carry the new gen 5 glock 20 I'm gonna for sure check out. Thanks for your great vedios especially ....long live the republic
I have had this gun for a few months now, so far it's been great but I haven't shot it tons yet.
I’m interested in getting a G20 soon but I think I may get a Gen 4 because it’s easy to find a 6” barrel for it as well as other aftermarket parts.
I have a Gen2 Glock 20 and I purchased a 6" barrel for it not long ago, 2 years or so. It's an Alpha Wolf barrel. I believe it also fits Gen3 Glocks. I wasn't aware that I could get one most any length from KKM at the time or I would have gotten a KKM. I did get the Alpha Wolf new for a fairly low price. I have a 1/2" over stock length 10mm KKM barrel in the G20 under normal circumstances currently.
I been waiting for a sootch gen 5 10mm review. Turned out I was late to the party.
Thanks Sootch!
I bought one yesterday, It looks like an aftermarket rear sight.
I couldn’t help but notice you have the 6.5 rear sight on the G20 instead of the 6.9 or is the difference very minimal??
"I gotta hear that wonderful reset every time".
Another terrific review. Thanks!
Hey, Sootch!
I opened RUclips and a was "not subed. to your channel'?????? Not a biggie We're back, dude! God bless you and your fam. Happy Thanksgiving from San Juan, Puerto Rico
Gonna be my NEXT HANDGUN purchase!!! to go with other few GLOCK'S I have..!!
I wish it came with a normal " un cut " slide. I don't want an optic on mine , so the slide cut just looks stupid .
That’s absolutely badass Scootch!👍
With a carbine conversion kit this could be pretty awesome truck gun
Glock is like Volkswagen. For specific people.
My Glock 20 is one of my favorite pistols
The gen 5 g20, besides the grooves and red dot, it definitely is sprung different from previous gens because it shoots a bit softer and i follow up faster than with the xdm 4.5 10mm and gen 4 g20.
