*Wear gloves (nitril, latex, vinyl, etc) to keep lead from getting on your skin while cleaning guns FYI. Lead a neurotoxic metal that harms the glial cells of the brain. I work with lead acid batteries professionally, so I know a lot more about lead safety than the average person. As a scientist with a background in chemistry, toxicology & environmental science, I am warning you to wear personal protective equipment because your skin absorbs things. Also using solvents exposes you to airway hazards, so do you gun cleaning in a garage, workshop or other area away from foods, the kitchen etc. Make sure you use solvents in a well vented area & avoid storing solvent soaked rags in a bin *leave them outside to evaporate & dispose of the materials ethically in accordance with local laws in your area. Also be careful when storing solvents, flammable substances like gasoline, alcohol, etc. Store in a sturdy fire resistant cabinet away from sources of ignition like a natural gas furnace, water heater, stove, etc.
Also make sure to protect your esophagus with a layer latex before you drink water from the faucet, the water is Contaminated with safe levels of lead and chlorine but they are both potentially dangerous and you shouldn’t trust your body to safely deal with them
Only certain organic lead compounds not covered by the standard, such as tetraethyl lead, can be absorbed through the skin. The only concerns about the lead a person will encounter when cleaning a firearm are the concerns of ingestion or inhalation. I'm all for gun safety but stating that the lead encountered when cleaning firearms is absorbed through the skin is simply not true. Just throw it in a bowl of Hoppes and let sit over night. The disassemble everthing including the firing pin and plunger and extractor, and also your trigger assemble, then dry
Avoid running a dry brush through your barrel without wetting it first. Not because you will damage anything but because you WILL have powder residue inside your barrel, and running a dry brush in it will basically throw said powder everywhere like a cloud of dust. THANK YOU, sir, for a very informative video! I’m still somewhat new to guns and have a new Glock 42. There are tons of videos on RUclips that claim to show people how to disassemble and clean a gun, but the people skip key steps and assume we all know how to do what they skip over. Belief is the acceptance of claims without evidence. The only hate I have is towards the acceptance of claims without evidence (or the acceptance of claims despite evidence, what we call faith). I hate the acceptance of claims without evidence (despite evidence) because it does nothing to strengthen arguments. Just added this video to my favorites. I've had my glock 42 for almost 1 year now and I love it. I had been cleaning it but thought I would make sure I had been doing a proper job. I had missed a couple of things so I'm glad I found this and will continue to use this video as a guide.
sootch00 Hey I have a question if you have a moment: during the inspection the slide stop doesn’t snap back down smoothly (G26 gen 3, basically like new, as only been fired roughly 50 times in years so maybe not “broken in” yet?) It does “snap” but it takes me pushing it down, it’s not smoothly like in your video. I tried it on a G19 (also Gen 3) and it snaps down smoothly just like in your video, without me forcing it, but the G19 when purchased already had been fired/used a lot. Not sure if it’s suppose to snap back down always or if it takes time to “break in” before it’s more smooth - kinda like the trigger. BTW: thanks for the video! Just subscribed! This video is way better than trying to read it from Glock’s website!
Excellent video! I just got a gun cleaning kit and your video definitely helped me with cleaning and inspection process thoroughly. I would like to say that I really recommend the Boosteady gun cleaning kit. It is a great product at a reasonable price. This is a very complete kit that includes brushes, jags, and loops for just about every caliber and gauge you're likely to run into. If you have a variety of calibers and gauges, this set has you covered.
is the main reason to clean a firearm often to: A) reduce risk of accidental discharge B) reduce risk of round exploding in barrel C) prevent jams n other malfunctions D) increase lifetime of parts without needing replacement/repair which one?
This is the best instructional Glock cleaning video that I've see. I recommend this for any gun instructional classes. It's very no-nonsense, straight ahead, military SOP type stuff--my favorite way.
Greetings from Western Canada, Excellent video, found it clear and concise, compared to others I have viewed. Interesting point, as a new Glock gun owner (Glock 34 Gen 4) I was disappointed in the apparent sticky inconsistent trigger action. After following this video and the tip regarding the slight lubrication on the rear portion of the trigger linkage, it has improved considerably. Also enjoyed the outtakes at the end, they added a good chuckle. I gotta subscribe now! Cheers
Bought my first firearm (glock 45) and after putting 100 rounds through it, I found your video for cleaning. Greatly appreciate your tutorial 7 years later! Cheers
Excellent video. One thing you got very right was the details, particularly video closeups. A lot of RUclipsrs may explain things well but their cameras aren’t close enough to really show the details. Great job. Also, I appreciate a “clean” video, not just a “clean gun” video. 😁 It’s refreshing to hear someone speak without a bunch of profanity, so if my kids overhear what I’m watching they don’t have to learn any new interesting words. 😅
I have used your video guide on cleaning my Glock 43, 19, & 17 for a few years now. I have it saved and is my only go to when I am cleaning my Glocks. Thank you!
A very well-produced and elaborate instructional Glock Hangun cleaning video.Makes for a decent go-to reference for all spectrums of that great pistol.I of course got the manual that comes with the pistol, but to view a step-by-step process recommended by Glock puts traction on that directive without a doubt.I really appreciate your production of this video sir!
Thank you! I'm a (new to me) Glock owner. I readily noticed it hadn't been fired in a while, and was very gummy. I really appreciate your up close and step by step video. Now my Glock slides easily. Thanks again.
Quintus Aurelius Symmachus the 43 looks appealing. But with the honor guard that helps veterans I might have to do some more detection and research to my next hand gun. As I only have the sig p320 cm That I just love. But I am in the market for something more edc. As p320 is a bit of a large carry
well go git one man!!! I never liked they don't have a safety...so i put one on anyway (siderlock trigger safety) now i like it a lot better. And got another one two. Try a G26 and it might change your mind about them. A neat, accurate, small and handy pistol.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been looking for this for a while and I had to sift through just SO many videos with a lot of exposition, poor camera angles/quality, unexplained steps, bad narration, gun guy fluff, and so on from other channels. This is such a tight and thorough tutorial. I just want to do things correctly and I finally found a tutorial that gave the the knowledge I was looking for. Thank you very much.
Easiest way in the world to clean Glock lowers? Baby wipes. Got that tip from a Glock Armorer many years ago. Wring out any excess moisture. Clean and let dry. Done.
I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have watched this video, but this is my go to standard. Simple, straight, and to the point. And the products used. Just plain old Hoppe's #9 solvent and oil. And really, that is all you need on a Glock. Thanks again for the many years of reviews. God bless
They say not to remove the factory copper, but then also to clean it after you first purchase the weapon. What is the technique for cleaning but not removing the copper? Did I miss that in the video?
$10 will get you a jar of C5A large enough to last a lifetime. Just clean how you must with solvent, and carefully apply a little more with a toothpick along the slide rails before reassembly.
@@aaronroszczewski7267 Bad idea! It's mildly abrasive. That's why it's for the break-in period only. I use it on ar builds between the barrel and upper, but there's no friction there, and is used solely to make sure the barrel can be removed later, plus protect against two different type of metals making contact.
Just got my first gun and it's a Glock 19. Will be taking a 2-day class in a couple of weeks but figured it wouldn't hurt to watch as many vids as possible. Thanks for your detailed instruction. I tried to clean my gun just using the printed instructions that came with it but couldn't figure out how exactly to get the slide off. Your video answered that for me and more. Thanks!
A lot of good information on RUclips (but a few idiots too). You're right about watching as many videos as you can. Never can "Learn Too Much". Don't be afraid to ask questions at gun shops and shooting ranges too. Most "Gun People" are easy going and glad to share. As the old saying goes, "The Only DUMB QUESTION, is the One You DON'T ASK".
Ok, this may be a stupid comment, but that's actually a nice cleaning mat! I didn't know those were out there and that seems better than the neoprene roll I've been using. Thanks!
bludingo22 and Sootch excellent, thanks! I hate having pins and springs rolling all over and those compartments will definitely help! Also looks like they'll contain fluids.
sootch00 I need to get one of those cleaning mats, every time the wife sees me heading for the kitchen table with gun cleaning supplies and one of the good kitchen towels she gives me the evil eye. great video as always, keep up the great work, and merry Christmas to all.
Glock set a standard that no one was able to match or compete with. Their design is nearly 30 years old and was state of the art from the very start which nearly each pistol maker has tried to copy without violating patent laws. Glock has made some changes to the design here and there but its still the original design.
Frank Wood an astounding tool. I don’t understand why people are so afraid to conform they’d carry anything else. It’s your LIFE. If it’s THAT reliable I want it for my LIFE.
I never owned a gun! I’m in the process of looking to purchasing one! A Glock 26 or 27 that I’m interested! But I might as well get used too and learn ahead of time how to clean them! Great tutorial!
I have a close friend who was handling his 1911 and had a negligent discharge where he shot his left index finger off. Auto loaders need to be handled w/extreme care. My buddy is an experienced gun handler and if this could happen to him, it could happen to anyone.

Cys Adventures star chamber is probably the hardest to clean next to the bolt it catches the end of the q tip easily so it’s delicate to clean so that’s the annoying part when I had to clean my m-4 in the army
Damn it lol, got a new g20 today, didnt know what that copper lube actually was, stripped it and cleaned it out. The first thing I do with any new gun I buy is take it down and clean it and lube it. Oh well its a glock, it'll run
I never use a dry brush. Usually spray the gun with remoil or some kind of gun cleaner and then brush with a nylon brush. Then I go through with patches or a rag and clean everything up and wipe it dry. Then ill take Q tips to the rails. Cleans things up alot nicer. Then ill wait about 10 minutes to make sure everything is dry then lube it. Only things i use to clean is remoil. Nylon brush. Nylon barrel brush. And patches. And it cleans up real easy aslong as you clean it after every time you shoot it

Brooo THANK YOU for this video. I just cleaned and inspected my g 26 step by step to your instructions and found that my ejector is bent. Ive only taken it to the range twice and that explains why i have a failure to eject every once in a while
After watching this video, I went out and disabled my Glock and it had way too much oil everywhere. I followed the instructions and ended up with a new Glock that is clean and not soaked in oil. I even used the long Qtips to clean the rails and soak up any excess oil. I’m confident it will work if I use it.😊
I bought Glock 17 from competitive shooter. He said he had done 20k shots and had never cleaned it. When I pulled it apart, it was in decent shape- no damage whatsoever.
I'm a big believer in CLP. Bore brushes, APB brushes all a wet scrub. Use dry patches and rag to absorb dirty CLP residue, Q-tips on rails and all small nooks and crannies until 95% dry. The remaining CLP is a lubricant and is generally all you'll ever need for most firearms. My firearms are always immaculate and I rarely if ever get jams or stovepipes regardless of ammo I'm using. Uncle Sam trained me well.

Almost 7 years later and your video is still helping people! Thank you here from Brazil - Rio de Janeiero city.
I'm a new owner and walking through this was excellent- thank you for doing. Yes, God Bless America
Just added this video to my favorites. I've had my glock 42 for almost 1 year now and I love it. I had been cleaning it but thought I would make sure I had been doing a proper job. I had missed a couple of things so I'm glad I found this and will continue to use this video as a guide.
number one thing I do when coming to this channel.
THUMBS UP...
Thanks Doc!
DOCSAFETUBE thumps way up!
Hears a thumbs up for your thumbs up!

sootch00 Hey I have a question if you have a moment: during the inspection the slide stop doesn’t snap back down smoothly (G26 gen 3, basically like new, as only been fired roughly 50 times in years so maybe not “broken in” yet?) It does “snap” but it takes me pushing it down, it’s not smoothly like in your video.
Literally best video I seen about cleaning glock. I’ve seen so many and they’re all different and too long or too slow. Yours was perfect
Probably the best Glock gun cleaning video on RUclips.
is the main reason to clean a firearm often to:
A) reduce risk of accidental discharge
B) reduce risk of round exploding in barrel
C) prevent jams n other malfunctions
D) increase lifetime of parts without needing replacement/repair
which one?
E) all of the above

Cheers
Glock's recoil is just perfect and well balanced.
Good to see a man and his guns staying clean.
I have used your video guide on cleaning my Glock 43, 19, & 17 for a few years now. I have it saved and is my only go to when I am cleaning my Glocks. Thank you!
Just cleaned my G45 with this method. Loved the experience!
Loved this video, my dad let me clean his gun for the first time so i can learn and it really helped me and showed me a lot.
Don't own a glock but love the content you put out on RUclips
Robnober Freund You should remedy that situation. Even if you don't make it your EDC they are nice to take to the range.
Thanks Brother!
Get yourself a Glock, bub.
Done.
Mike Maas you mean real baby wipes or those gun wipes?
I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have watched this video, but this is my go to standard. Simple, straight, and to the point. And the products used. Just plain old Hoppe's #9 solvent and oil. And really, that is all you need on a Glock. Thanks again for the many years of reviews. God bless
The copper is Loctite C5A copper based anti-seize
They say not to remove the factory copper, but then also to clean it after you first purchase the weapon. What is the technique for cleaning but not removing the copper? Did I miss that in the video?
Target Shooter so I just avoid the areas that have the copper?
Target Shooter got it. Thanks for the info!
As the old saying goes,
"The Only DUMB QUESTION, is the One You DON'T ASK".
What a coincidence, this particular gun has my initials printed in it

😃
I think this is the best Glock cleaning video I've ever watched on RUclips.
Ok, this may be a stupid comment, but that's actually a nice cleaning mat! I didn't know those were out there and that seems better than the neoprene roll I've been using. Thanks!
I found it at Palmetto State Armory and it's made by Lyman. Very useful. Thanks
NoTimeForThatNow just ordered one from Amazon - $12
bludingo22 and Sootch excellent, thanks! I hate having pins and springs rolling all over and those compartments will definitely help! Also looks like they'll contain fluids.
It's handy for small parts and the sections help keep things organized. Plus it's small enough to not be in the way. I think you'll like it. Thanks
sootch00 I need to get one of those cleaning mats, every time the wife sees me heading for the kitchen table with gun cleaning supplies and one of the good kitchen towels she gives me the evil eye. great video as always, keep up the great work, and merry Christmas to all.
I have owned my glock for 5 years, and this still taught me more about the oil steps. Much appreciated
Thank you sootch00! I finally cleaned my Gen4 G19 after its first 600 rounds. Followed your every step. Now I can't wait to get back out to the range!
After firing your first 600 rounds, did your glock start firing rounds different in a bad way?
@@baseball2662 Not that I noticed.
I can't remember everything. I be watching this video every time when I'm cleaning my Glock 19.

Old Cop Clearly not experienced enough if he’s not following the 4 rules.
Guns fun
Is his name Mike and did he post above?
Years later, cleaned my new Glock 19 with this video for the first time :) Thanks
An excellent video Sootch. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Watching you clean this glock 26 made me feel confident In the method I have been using since its spot on with your video. Well done sir!
Mission accomplished. Thanks Brother
@@sootch00 how do you control guns so straight without moving on all videos? I noticed it long time ago. It not just typical correct and strong grip. Do you do hand exercises or weight lifting?
Im 21 just bought my first gun a Glock 19 gen 5. This definitely helped me out a ton thank you
Every time I see someone taking apart and putting together a handgun I always think of Major Payne lol
Great video! I was going to have someone clean my 19 for me, but after watching this video I’m confident in doing it myself. Thank you
Awesome tutorial everything explained well 22:40 “do it all over again”🤣
Superb demonstration of break down, cleaning, oiling, reassembling and inspection, sir---could not have been done any better. I sincerely appreciate you!!
Can you do a AR-15 cleaning video
Good idea. :)
Cys Adventures he has one. 👍🏻
He has two.

Cys Adventures star chamber is probably the hardest to clean next to the bolt it catches the end of the q tip easily so it’s delicate to clean so that’s the annoying part when I had to clean my m-4 in the army
I have owned Glocks for over 5 yrs (3 different models), and learned several things in this video. Thanks Sooch!
Sootch, has anyone ever told you that you look like an older, skinnier, Kevin James? (the guy from paul blart)
No, that's a first. : )
lol omg he does
Wow , that's stretching it
don't you mean Rick James? lol
LMAO ; He probably doe's Rick James for Halloween, getting Funky with it , Ha,ha,ha !!!
As a beginner to the Glock community this video was very helpful to me on properly cleaning my Glock
Damn it lol, got a new g20 today, didnt know what that copper lube actually was, stripped it and cleaned it out. The first thing I do with any new gun I buy is take it down and clean it and lube it. Oh well its a glock, it'll run
got my first Glock 20 and this is just what I needed. Thanks
Does Glock ever recommend Ballistol? I like that stuff too....
Yo Bentley Watch hickok45's Glock cleaning video. He's a big Ballistol fan.
Ballistol is all I use. Great stuff.
Just by looking at your gun cleaning products I can tell that you're a longtime shooter. Mostly us long time gun owners use Hoppes no.9. 👍
Not clean enough for me. Scrubbing it with a dry brush? When does the OCD vid going up?
what do you use?
I never use a dry brush. Usually spray the gun with remoil or some kind of gun cleaner and then brush with a nylon brush. Then I go through with patches or a rag and clean everything up and wipe it dry. Then ill take Q tips to the rails. Cleans things up alot nicer. Then ill wait about 10 minutes to make sure everything is dry then lube it. Only things i use to clean is remoil. Nylon brush. Nylon barrel brush. And patches. And it cleans up real easy aslong as you clean it after every time you shoot it
@@andrewneidinger646 That's the right answer. I wouldn't use a dry brush either.
Sonicare for your glock?
Best Glock cleaning video I have seen, thank you
Never cleaned my Glocks. Never had a problem. Hmmm.
Gunsquawk this is another option. with my p99 and ppq 9mm walthers both have 3000 through them never cleaned once run fine. i enjoy cleaning and glocks are my carry brand i clean em.

Just cleaned my glock 19 for the first time ever and i bought some q-tips so i could clean it like you did 👍 i appreciate the video, patriot! God bless!
Careful with the cotton that comes off you can cause an issue if it gets jammed in the wrong area
What happened to the video where you shot your truck by mistake?
Rafael Zamora i remember that one!
Rafael Zamora He caught a TON of shit from people for being "irresponsible" so he said he took it down. So many anti-gun memes from that video, I don't blame him for taking it off line

Glock cleaning......
Wipe off with an oily towel? 😊😆
I bought my first Glock today! G45 then a bunch of letters and numbers. Thank you for the instructions. Good job Sir.
Ohhh man I thought you were Putin, for a minute there! Lol
Brooo THANK YOU for this video. I just cleaned and inspected my g 26 step by step to your instructions and found that my ejector is bent. Ive only taken it to the range twice and that explains why i have a failure to eject every once in a while
I neglected cleaning my Glock 17 for some time. This video was awesome and very easy to follow along
Just cleaned and inspected my G26 today for the first time following this video. Thank you!!
After watching this video, I went out and disabled my Glock and it had way too much oil everywhere. I followed the instructions and ended up with a new Glock that is clean and not soaked in oil. I even used the long Qtips to clean the rails and soak up any excess oil. I’m confident it will work if I use it.😊
New Glock owner. I was oiling my Glock like my AR.
As a new gun owner, who just bought a Glock 27, this was very helpful!
