No joke… i fell asleep watching this channel… woke up and saw Linus building a computer looking like he’s 60. For a solid 30 seconds I thought I was waking up from a coma.
As a first-time viewer of SW, I hope theres a Scrapyard Wars 2025 in the cards, even if it is rather expensive to produce. Time to go back and watch the older ones
I was rooting for Team Duke, just because they took scrapyard to a whole new level with the amount of free stuff and jank they managed to salvage. The chair wheel epitomized the whole "scrapyard" part of this series.
The old episodes of older editions need to be edited into each long video and then have a playlist with all the episodes in chronological order. This series is just too good.
Not that anyone will see this, but I complained on one of the other scrapyard wars 2024 videos that they weren't in a playlist and they didn't queue in the correct order and I had to go find each one individually on the channel page. Thanks, this is a great solution!
Running multiple power supplies is fine but it needs to be done with some thought. By joining multiple PSU's, you end up connecting their neutrals which makes them into a poorly regulated multi-rail power supply. As long as you avoid cross-loading the "rails", its actually something that is OK to do and the parts are designed for it. According to ATX spec, each EPS and PCIE connector is supposed to be capable of providing a balanced load for a separate rail and the exact scenario that Luke was proposing at some point would in fact work. Even though it would technically work, since the separate PSU's aren't actually designed to work in a multi-rail environment, they would introduce a lot of signal noise into the system though. In practical terms, this means that system stability is lowered anywhere between losing a bit of overclocking headroom to straight up failing to boot and also that the caps and pwm chips on the motherboard/gpu will get more wear and tear. That is unless the PSU's are actually designed to work as rails (for instance, many server PSU's are) or alternatively, you use one of the various rail load balancers that you can get as preassembled PCB kits off various chinese e-stores.
They also mentioned on a previous WAN show that scrapyard wars would never return due to costs and time constraints. I guess everything's possible as long as it's sponsored
I imagine it'll be a slow burn, but an effective one in this case. People will see it on their recommended or revisit in a few years. Hope it catches on though :D
Haha as cool as the makeup was, I'll be frank I felt like it didn't play that big of a role. Only to slightly fool some people here and there. It would have been even more effective if this was done at some trade show. In the end the number of times they had to interact with people was rare as most things were charge chased down online first.
eh i think that's more on luke, his was basically pointless. But if it wasn't for linus driving the most identifiable car and wearing LTT merch i don't think many people would be able to tell it's him.

What Linus is doing is a legit tactic, and that's how I went from an $50 Optiplex to a B550 with 5700x and rtx 3060 and barely spending $300 total. I buy and sell, then sometimes I sell items again on a different platform before they even arrive. It's fun as long as you have plenty of money to front load the process, just be sure to account for all Ebay fees as you plot the path, because they add up quickly, but bidding on computer parts that end past midnight are the best way to win deals in my opinion.

This was fun as heck to watch. I do think you need to give more time, and be a bit more judicious on your categories judging. E.g., a BUNCH of points were taken off "Team Duke" for aesthetics (e.g. sound) even though aesthetics was its own entire category!
