Borderless Hurdle Stitch Baby Blanket & Hat: Loom Knitted
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 11 окт 2024
- In this tutorial you will learn how to loom knit a lay flat baby blanket (or ANY size blanket) on a round or straight loom and matching baby hat on a round loom from start to finish. The final width of my blanket using all of the 41 pegs was about 16” width. The final length of my baby hat was 5.5”. Using different yarn, loom gauge, plus other differences will make the width and lengths different than mine. You can use a round, straight or infinity loom, etc. for the blanket.
ALL the information about this pattern, including adjustments for different size looms, embellishment details, knit stitches uses, links to any other video tutorials used in the video, supplies used, product recommendations, etc, can all be found on my website:

KNIT ON! ~ Bridget
Making this for my cousins daughter. She unfortunately passed away at 2 weeks and I asked her mom if she wanted me to knit a blanket to put with her to rest. This is a beautiful blanket and seems to be working up fast.
I love how you explain why you knit v purl and it's so helpful! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
I absolutely LOVE your version of the Hurdle stitch pattern! I just can't use this particular pattern enough! Thank you!
I totally agree!
I just finished a blanket with this pattern and it turned out beautifully. Thank you for the instruction. It was easy to follow.
You are welcome!
Making this blanket right
now so pretty and
it stays nice and flat
Thanks for making
this blanket pattern
for the loom 😊
Thank you so much for this video! Instructions and good visuals made it super easy to follow along!!Just made a blanket for my best friend who is expecting her first child later this year. Can't wait to gift it to her!!
This is wonderful! Thank you so very much. I'm excited to have found your channel. It was suggested to me by a lady in a loom FB group.
I love this. Thank you for this video. I have a dear co-worker who is 9 weeks away from due date. I'm going to make this for her.
How sweet.
I just found your site here on RUclips. I love making this blanket, it is so easy and you have a wonderful speaking voice. You go slowly so people can understand. I'm in the midst of three babies being born over the next several months. I'm going to make the hurdle stitch blanket without the border to begin with and then move over and make the blanket with the border. Thank you so much for the instruction and putting this on RUclips so that we could do something quick and in the meantime have a wonderful present for mothers to be!
Thanks for your feedback!
I’m trying to make a blanket and I like this video. Though, there were times where I couldn’t see what you were doing. Also, even though you’ve done a step you should show it again. I got lost a little bit. 😅
Oh and for some reason some how I ended up with 3 yarns on a pick. Lol.
You should do a video on how to fix that.
Wow, that is a really impressive and lovely pattern. Thank you for the instruction!
You are welcome, thanks for the feedback.
Hello I love this pattern...what can do for a boy baby embellishment..we never think about the baby boys...I guess I'll leave it plain
I love this blanket pattern. This pattern makes 16.5" wide blanket but I need the blanket to be 32" wide. I know the video talks about using a larger loom but the largest loom I have has 41 pegs. If I made two of these blankets, is it possible to join them to make the width of 32"? If this is possible, then what is the best way to join them?
I personally don't like the look of panel connected together. You will need to purchase something like a long loom or infinity loom.... something like this: amzn.to/3a9k0cv
HI! This is such a great video, and beautiful blanket. I saw in the comments, that you said you explained in the video how to make this blanket on an even numbered loom. I can’t find in the video where you talk about the different size looms though. I am trying to make this blanket on the flexee loom using 72 pegs. What differences would I have to make? Thank you so much!
Hi! Basically you can use any number of pegs from the loom you have since you are going back and forth. So, if you would just use an odd number of pegs from your loom, which would be 71 on the 72 peg loom if you wanted to use the maximum amount of pegs on that loom.
@@TheDavetHomestead Thank you! I’ll try that 😀
I'd like to know how WIDE is the blanket on a 41 peg loom??
It really depends on many factors. It depends on the gauge of the loom and what type of yarn you are using. It is best to make a swatch and see what it comes out to be for the loom and yarn you will be using.
I love this! Thanks!
You are welcome.
Could someone please tell me if the pattern stays the same if you do it on a KB afghan loom ? Really hope someone answers my question , waiting to start an afghan . Love your videos btw !
It will be different if the gauge size is different, so it doesn't really matter the brand, just the gauge size. I would make a swatch and see what your loom makes.
Hi...did you try this on the KB afghan loom? How did it go? Want to do the same...🤔
Thanks
It is beautiful! Could you please tell me what size is the baby blanket?
Please see the video description, that information is listed there.
ही
👍
I'm teaching myself how to knit from your video & I kinda wish there were written instructions. I think I'm doing ok but would really like to see some written instructions. Thank you!

So cute.. I love it😍
How many Yarn you needed? I mean how many grams you needed?
Lovely lovely video X Thankyou
You are very welcome!
Just gorgeous thank you
Thanks!
I am using a 40 peg loom, by using one less peg to be on an odd peg pattern. Therefore, I would only be using 39 pegs by removing one peg from the loom. Wouldn’t this make my blanket even smaller than the 16.5 in wide?
A little yes.
So can you use the modified flat panel bind off that is in this video for binding off any type stitch blanket ?
Yes :)
That is a beautiful blanket. What size yarn did you use for the blanket.
How many yards of yarn do you need for this pattern? I am making a crib size blanket
Just found your channel and love it ❤. For this blanket how much of the bulky #5 yarn do I need?
I used a velvet yard and my cast-on row versus my cast-off row was really off. The ends don't match up at all. The cast-on row was considerably loose :( Love this stitch, I'll have to try it again. Thank you for your video
You are welcome.
I’m getting so frustrated i’m skipping my first one but still end with a purl stitch what am i doing wrong
Awesome Video!❤️❤️👏👏
Thanks!
That peg you skip all the time how does it look because i would think that going behind would leave a hole stitch that doesnt connect. If your going in a circle the that works which I've made a hat. Im doing 242 peg blanket
I'm not sure what you are asking? I'm going back and forth to make a panel, not a circle, if that makes sense.
Can I use a rectangle loom?
I was checking comments before asking this same question...
Should my last row be a pearl 1 Knit 1
If I wanted to alternate colors to make it more of a rainbow blanket, how many rows would you recommend for each color?
good job
Thanks
This is beautiful! I'm new at this and I bought some Bernant Baby Blanket yarn, would that work for this project? I got the jumbo, how many do I need to make the same size you made (just the blanket) Thx so much for sharing your gift with us😊
I haven't really worked with that yarn (though I love the way it feels), so I'm not sure.
Can you make an adult blanket that way. I want to make a bigger blanket
Of course! I explain in the video how to make it bigger.
Can you use even peg loom? Or does it work b by ether with odd?
You can use any size/ peg loom. The instructions in the video will explain how to use more or less pegs and used in the video.
Hello, I am a new subscriber and if my circle has 32 nails, do you think I can get the blanket and the hat?
Would this pattern work on a rectangular loom same number pegs?
Using #5 bulky on the 41 peg loom. The bottom edge is extremely loopy.
so was mine :(
Loopy edges are always an issue in loom knitting. My suggestion is either trying a different cast on (like the crochet cast on, though that doesn't seem to work for me as it does for others) or try a smaller gauge loom.
thanks!
Hi, can anyone suggest how long I should make blanket ? I've not done a loom blanket before - it is for a baby gift.
Really just depends on what you like and what the blanket will be used for... like a small car seat blanket or a full bed blanket.
So I've watched this video at least a dozen times and am using the same loom as you but somehow my stitch ends on a knit. I can't figure out how you're ending on a purl? 😭
I do to end on a knit too so i do a uwrap last peg. Hope this works out. Im glad im not the only one that ends up on knit too
Not sure what you mean? The pattern ends each row with a knit, so you are doing it correct.
@@catherineportland503 Not sure what you mean? The pattern ends each row with a knit, so you are doing it correct.
How much yarn did you use to make blanket? Do u have video for mittens and booties to match this set?
I can't remember how much, but it does depend on your yarn and size of the blanket. I haven't gotten into mittens or booties yet.
Can this method be done on an infinity loom
Could I start this in any direction starting the right first thanx
Correct
Can you do this on any loom???
You should be able to.
What size is this blanket? If you need it little bigger would you have to add another panel?
Please see the video description.
How do I do the rose and leaves? Thank you.

Can I make this blanket for an adult? Someone please answer my question.
Yes, you can use any pattern to make a blanket for an adult. I used a pattern for a baby blanket and made a blanket that fits a king size bed. Just make it bigger. I also used a larger loom with more pegs.
Linda Arppe. Thank you so very much for answering my question. I am making an adult blanket, andI’m using my 41 pegs. It’s coming along pretty good.
@@jaex7937, thank you! Yes, with this pattern you can use any size loom.
Linda Arppe thanks again!!!!
@@jaex7937, anytime! Glad to help 😊

What color would you recommend for a baby boy?
Blue, Yellow, Green, Purple or a maybe a multicolor yarn.
Can I cast on with the crochet cast one method?
You should be able to.
how do you do the rose and levas

Have you used this stitch on a small gauge loom or the KB afghan loom? If using a baby yarn (#3) on small gauge loom would I need to double up the yarn?
I have not yet, but have seen several people that have. You just use whatever size yarn and strands you normally use for the gauge you are working on. I tried this on the KB afghan loom with bernat blanket yarn, and that yarn is too big for that loom in my opinion, though I know people that use it. I didn't like how tight it was. Basically make a swatch with whatever yarn you want to use and see how you like it.
I am very new to loom knitting. I was disappointed how you finished the baby hat by speeding through it.
I'm sorry you feel that way, but I have other videos that show in detail how to finish off the hat. I can't make everyone happy, when I put those details which are the same in 99.9% of my videos, then people comment why I have to keep repeating that.
