  • In this tutorial you will learn how to loom knit a lay flat baby blanket (or ANY size blanket) on a round or straight loom and matching baby hat on a round loom from start to finish. The final width of my blanket using all of the 41 pegs was about 16” width. The final length of my baby hat was 5.5”. Using different yarn, loom gauge, plus other differences will make the width and lengths different than mine. You can use a round, straight or infinity loom, etc. for the blanket.
    ALL the information about this pattern, including adjustments for different size looms, embellishment details, knit stitches uses, links to any other video tutorials used in the video, supplies used, product recommendations, etc, can all be found on my website:

    I just found your site here on RUclips. I love making this blanket, it is so easy and you have a wonderful speaking voice. You go slowly so people can understand. I'm in the midst of three babies being born over the next several months. I'm going to make the hurdle stitch blanket without the border to begin with and then move over and make the blanket with the border. Thank you so much for the instruction and putting this on RUclips so that we could do something quick and in the meantime have a wonderful present for mothers to be!

    I’m trying to make a blanket and I like this video. Though, there were times where I couldn’t see what you were doing. Also, even though you’ve done a step you should show it again. I got lost a little bit. 😅
    Oh and for some reason some how I ended up with 3 yarns on a pick. Lol.
    You should do a video on how to fix that.

    I love this blanket pattern. This pattern makes 16.5" wide blanket but I need the blanket to be 32" wide. I know the video talks about using a larger loom but the largest loom I have has 41 pegs. If I made two of these blankets, is it possible to join them to make the width of 32"? If this is possible, then what is the best way to join them?

    • @TheDavetHomestead

      I personally don't like the look of panel connected together. You will need to purchase something like a long loom or infinity loom.... something like this: amzn.to/3a9k0cv

    HI! This is such a great video, and beautiful blanket. I saw in the comments, that you said you explained in the video how to make this blanket on an even numbered loom. I can’t find in the video where you talk about the different size looms though. I am trying to make this blanket on the flexee loom using 72 pegs. What differences would I have to make? Thank you so much!

    • @TheDavetHomestead
      @TheDavetHomestead  3 года назад +2

      Hi! Basically you can use any number of pegs from the loom you have since you are going back and forth. So, if you would just use an odd number of pegs from your loom, which would be 71 on the 72 peg loom if you wanted to use the maximum amount of pegs on that loom.

    • @TheDavetHomestead
      @TheDavetHomestead  3 года назад

      It really depends on many factors. It depends on the gauge of the loom and what type of yarn you are using. It is best to make a swatch and see what it comes out to be for the loom and yarn you will be using.

      It will be different if the gauge size is different, so it doesn't really matter the brand, just the gauge size. I would make a swatch and see what your loom makes.

    I am using a 40 peg loom, by using one less peg to be on an odd peg pattern. Therefore, I would only be using 39 pegs by removing one peg from the loom. Wouldn’t this make my blanket even smaller than the 16.5 in wide?

      Loopy edges are always an issue in loom knitting. My suggestion is either trying a different cast on (like the crochet cast on, though that doesn't seem to work for me as it does for others) or try a smaller gauge loom.

    • @TheDavetHomestead
      @TheDavetHomestead  5 лет назад +2

      I have not yet, but have seen several people that have. You just use whatever size yarn and strands you normally use for the gauge you are working on. I tried this on the KB afghan loom with bernat blanket yarn, and that yarn is too big for that loom in my opinion, though I know people that use it. I didn't like how tight it was. Basically make a swatch with whatever yarn you want to use and see how you like it.
