Nice… a great video of a great car and a great driver… so unusual here on You Tube as I usually don't even make it through watching most of them. That spin out, was dramatic! That happened to me with a 74 RS… so now it's guts are in a modified 76 914 body… guess you know what happened.

@Peter Laviolette, that whining noise is the turbocharger. But the noise you hear in the RSR is probably the driveshaft or something, I'm not sure it has a turbo.
Definitely sounds more like gear whine from a sport gearbox with straight cut gears instead of helical. A turbo usually isn't that loud, and constantly spun up to that high a degree.
by watching this video i conclude that It is a very well tuned Porsche. And that turbo(s) very responsive ... its sounds far superior to the Factory 934 and 935 !!... PS: Very good driver that seems to know his car and the Ring... but also a Lucky S.O.B. @ 9:58 :-)

The transmission in this looks to be after market performance one but Porsche did make a 5-speed one the last year of its production in 1989 and also RUF had made a 5-speed for its models RUF CTR and BTR.

This is a very high revving machine, car must be hitting 7.5k + rpm. Unusual for a 930 turbo 😳💪🏿

That's from the gearbox (straight cut gears) That way the gearbox is stronger but also makes more noise
Just watched that, i have been in a ctr round the ring(have a look in my vids) and that thing is mental....certainly quicker.
takes a set of balls to drive an ass happy 930 around the ring in traffic under 8 minutes- notes taken.
