Microwave for 10 mins after pricking. Airfry for 30 mins after spraying with Olive Oil and puttiing on Pink Salt. No need for tin foil, that is a waste. They come out crispy as well.

O yes love swede and potato mashed it was my Gran who made it. I remember her telling me it's a great way to get children to vegetables. Gran used to cook the mash and swede with savory mince inside a folded pancake. When my family were young this meal was a real filling meal for my growing Sons, didn't cost a fortune and tasty to boot. 😊

I only prick them, then cook for 10 minutes in microwave and it's done. Don't like a crispy skin. Will certainly give the swede a try as I can't cut swede when it's raw as I have rheumatoid arthritis. That sounds great for me as I love swede.

  • @AlitleInLuv

You only need to prick or slice jacket potatoes when cooking them in a microwave. Microwaves cook food from the inside out, potatoes still in their skin could explode. I usually cook mine (only one) in the microwave for 6/7 minutes then crisp it in the airfryer for 10 minutes.

  • @Richard-gk3kq

Depending on size of potatoe I do 10mins in microwave and then 15-20mi s air fryer to brown and crisp the skin. I prick them before microwave.

Apart from washing and drying I don’t do anything to my pots, I don’t even wrap them in foil, they usually take 50 mins (same size as yours), I can happily say, I’ve never had an exploding potato. The roasted whole swede looks amazing, I’ll definitely be trying that, cheers guys xx

I never wrap them in foil and i have never had one explode. Just spray with light olive which gives a lovely crispy skin. 10 minutes in microwave on full then 30 mins in airfryer. Less time for medium potatoes.

I thought it was only in the microwave that they would explode if not pricked. I have had a tool for years for microwaving potatoes that has 4 sections with sharp bits that pierce the skins, I do 5 minutes, turn them over and another 5 minutes then, I used to oven bake but for the last two years I air fry them with a coat of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt 😋😋😋. I love swede but have never thought to bake them like a jacket potato but will be now, I just know it will be delicious, thank you for this video. ❤❤🐾🐾

The reason they didn’t explode is that you steamed them by wrapping in foil. Baked potatoes will explode if not pricked and not wrapped - had this happen many times
They will also have a crispier skin than putting in foil and taste much nicer. I don’t know what your mate down the pub is doing but 1:10 not wrapped in anything is usually great for baked spuds. Cheers.

I will eat these skins whereas normally I can't eat skin - gets stuck in my throat - but really delish like that!

OOooh i'm hank marvin now! O do like roast swede! Also if you do sweet potatoes in the airfryer with no tin foil they come out the business too and probably take half the time of an "irish potato" great vid from the Butlers Myth-busters! 😂😂 x

8min in the microwave for 2 spuds put a plastic cover over them to increase the steam, no need to stab and don't open the door for another 8min total time 16min
I have done it like that for 30 years, in the beginning I did not use the plastic cover over the spuds and the microwave thermal safety switch triggered, I guess due to the steam.
At the end of the cook there is a lot of hot water to mop up
Flavour is bland compared to oven cooked - it is like comparing poaching eggs to frying them they taste different.

Microwave 12 minutes, no foil. End of. Who wants to wait an hour?

If you love crispy, hard, almost burnt flavoured skin, as I do, it’s worth waiting for😉👍

I agree, finish them off in air fryer but I’d never cook them that way.

Not a criticism in any shape or form however would be good to see Sharon’s spud after a crisp up. I thought it might need some olive oil before crisping.
