    Best bassist ever. My favorite of all time. After I heard what Chris could make happen with the bass I was hooked. It wasn’t even so much what he was playing as much as where bass could move the song to. And that powerful voice is unmatched. This album showed they could move into mainstream pop and still innovate music like prog rockers. That is genius on so many levels. Miss you Chris and I know I will see you in heaven.

    They don't write songs like this any more. I had my daughter memorize the words to the bridge (talk a simple smile, etc) when she was 8. She had no idea what she was saying (even I still have a hard time understanding it), but she knew it was epic, even then. Now she's 16. Still knows every word. Timeless.

      One of the best things about Yes videos from the 80s is the contrast between the passing fashion fads and the timeless songs and incredible musicianship. Those of you who are or were professional rockers know how hard it is to pull of performances at this level. My old band played Genesis and Floyd but couldn't think of playing Yes.

    Dear Yes, I love that song because it's so understatedly political. I heard you perform the song on November 5 in Chicago. I thought it formulaic at the time. Weeks later it, along with Trevor and Lift Me Up resonate still. Still miraculous after all these years; even if not at first glance.

    • @designerlarry
      @designerlarry 8 лет назад

      Tracy McLellan I saw them in Philly in October, and I saw every yes tour from TFTO until 2011 Fly from here. I did miss Drama, and heard it was underrated though Trevor Horn was not out to sound like Jon Anderson though Jon Davidson tries to.
      Can't compare ARW to this performance- the musicianship and the electricity onstage, but ARW still sounded so good and I hope they return sounding even better with an even better set list.

    • @potshot11
      @potshot11 8 лет назад

      I meant to mention in my comment Perpetual Change. I sat through almost the whole concert November 5. Even though a lot of people were at times on their feet. Unusual for a Yes concert, of which I've seen about 35. And couldn't stay off my feet for much of lots of them. Part of the lack of enthusiasm at the time for me can be attributed to complicated reasons of consciousness. Like I said, the concert seemed formulaic at the time. I was kind of disappointed. I only held on to my seat and stayed because of the price I had paid for the ticket. Indeed, I left at the first notes of the encore, Roundabout. Been there, seen that. But weeks later Trevor's song Lift Me Up was still reverberating in my head. And the more I pondered the understated politics of especially those two songs, the more profound a political statement the concert impressed me as. Might have been nice to hear Gates of Delirium.
