Steve Howe could actually sing! He has a very gentle, expressive voice. His singing voice on these demos remind me of the singer-songwriters that that I met at the open Mike’s in South King County in the mid mid 1990s. Just a guy and his guitar in a room with really good acoustics and that’s what Steve Howe’s voice reminds me of.

Believe me, I'm more than content with the late-90s and early-00s Yes, both the albums (well, perhaps not Open Your Eyes) and the shows (well, absolutely not Khoroshev's horrible crime(s?)). But, I love to imagine what this lineup, perhaps also with Rick Wakeman (who would have been on what became Talk if things had lined up, as Wakeman and Rabin were eager to work together after Union), could have given us. On the other hand, I don't think I could trade The Ladder and Magnification for the unknown.
