If Garrett is truly confident that the Vortex can outperform models that cost less, well I can't think of a better way for them to prove the confidence in their product than to send you one so it can smoke the competition. Just my opinion.

499 euro for the triple score over here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱🙏🏻 and it didn't disappoint great value for the price point I'll be waiting for the video comparison with the vortex and score 3 the price on the vx9 is 699 euro over here 🇳🇱 i don't think I'll buy one especially for the price point and lack of stuff that counts up an till now the score 3 is the one most i take out detecting greetings from the Netherlands 👍🏻😁
Calabash you are excited about the Triple Score from the sound of it. From the videos I’ve seen from Iffy and Quarter Hoarder it does look like a great detector though. I agree with some of the others on here, the Vortex has its work cut out for it to compete with the Triple Score and the ML Elite much less anything above those.

However, I don't think you know how much you were missed by the community. When you were gone, there was a hole left behind that simply no one else could fill. 20 minutes out with the Double Score on homeplace I have hit with the legend 10-15 time found a 1897 Indian Head my first bale seal with a neat 5 point star on it. Not saying better than Legend but I am impressed.
I’ve been using the legend from as early as could get one when first introduced. It is a great machine. I think it’s worst feature is multi dry on beach. I have never been able to use it without a lot of chatter. I’ve even tried field and park and had same issue on dry sand. I can use multi wet and it works but not as well as multi wet will do on wet beach. I recently used in beach and could run it pretty hot and it can go deep running it that way.
What is it with Nokta shotgunning, flooding all these models into the market not long after the Legend? I bought their Makro Multi Kruzer back in ‘18. It did ok on land but flooded after second water hunt and battery stopped working. Had it replaced and got water behind screen again. All this after warranty was out. Took control housing apart and there was one of those desiccant packs stuffed amongst the electronic board! I let it dry out and put it back together and then the vibrate function didn’t work. The only mode that was not chirpy was three tone. The tone break feature was convoluted. Otherwise, built like a tank! Then after only being out about three years, they discontinued production and ended support of that model. I guess I jumped on the Nokta train too early in their many iterations of models. So I went with the Deus 2 which has performed phenomenal but it has its own drawbacks. It is a delicate machine in many ways as many can attest to. All I’m saying is that I have had good and bad in experiences in all the leading detector companies. I actually had good performance out of the Garrett ATPro series, especially in freshwater hunting.
I agree this is an incredible deal and from the videos I've seen the performance is very impressive! However on the topic of the new VX series we have to keep in mind that the Legend wasn't stellar when it first hit the market and now IMO has a overly complex menu with all the added features. I owned an ORX with a very simple menu and rarely had to adjust the recovery or sensitivity and didn't need lots of options like park 1 or park 2 ..etc.. because it simply works fine in Deus Fast for my type of hunting. Something else no one is mentioning but the detectors in Turkey can be developed and manufactured for much cheaper because the labor cost is about 5k average annual salary and yet... The VX is the by far the cheapest metal detector to hit the market with any type of visual target ID scale. Correct me if I'm wrong but only the Manticore, DII, and Rutus are the only current machines outside the Etrac/CTX line. * Not counting the Legend Ferrous scale which is of virtually no value. The only other metal detectors that have this feature are at the upper tier price range of 1k. Even if the VX upon release requires a few updates to get it dialed in it wouldn't be any different than the Legend. The DII still has issue with low VDI 6/7 on target with Iron so DEUS imo hasn't kept up with improving their high end machine. I've never owned a Garrett machine but I am hoping at least 1 of the remaining American companies can at least try to keep up with the market. So far Garrett is the only one that is trying...
Travis I value your view....But the Vortex has no features compared to the other brands unless they CHANGE the whole unit before release....There are no perfect units as we all know.... but ALL the companies are putting multiple features on there detectors these days as standard tools. The screen is not a selling point for me....Why are the testers not showing it in the field at this time?
Im so torn, do i get the triple score or the legend both are a great deal and the legend comes with a pinpointer is only about 150 more but the triple score is 2 years newer. What do you think performs better ? Should i go with the legend or triple score
I like the triple...Simpler Iron filter....Menu layout....The one thing I dont know is if the Legend has a slight depth advantage on the wet salt beach???
How well does the VDI lock in on a number. Is it anywhere as good as the Deus? I tried a Legend and it jumped a few numbers where the Deus locks in solid when coin hunting. How is the triple score on this?
Here's what I've seen so far. Garrett being an American company sure has sent out these detectors to bunch of nobodies overseas who do ZERO testing...that's weird. HOWEVER, I think Garrett's metal composition readout (3 lines) maybe a one up from Nokta 's FERRO CHECK. That alone maybe something amazing for us modern target hunters. Of course I maybe wrong but should be tested.
I think if Garrett didn’t make security metal detectors and wands, it would be out of business. This is a shame because I want an American company to have a viable detector. I have an AT Pro…. But it just hangs on a wall in my garage.

Yeah ...Those graphs on all detectors are way overrated imo...Including the Manticore...More important IMO is audio and the VDI accuracy..
