I REALLY REALLY think Ryan, you’d make a great Chronicle-esque found footage movie as your first feature. DIY it too. Don’t wait for it to be a studio thingy just cause Sandberg and Trachtenberg got their films that way. So many other great story tellers and features being made from self authorship resources as you and your team consistently prove excelling in. Look at Benson&Moorhead. They made a $20 grand feature in their home town and parlayed that into an indie sci-fi career and are now directing A-listers and episodes of Marvel TV.
These tuts are just awesome. It’s the little extra details that make each shot from good to Hollywood good, that I really appreciate. Thank you for making these clips. It would be even better to see some skits like you use to do. They were excellent viewing.
For God, it's incredible how you achieve some impressive results using only after effects while I could consider using Cinema 4D, Houdini, and so on but could never reach something like yours.
I am always surprised how much you guys can pull out of after effects using simple comp tricks. The FX in the real movie were so much more complicated than this, but your version is somehow still passable to an audience.
if you want to do a "closer to ground fly-by", you can add a second object group in element, set it as matte reflections, and create a plane with the ground texture and add the person (using a simple model of a CG person) for a better reflection.
Can you do a tutorial on VFX for Water CGI? As far as manipulating water or in environments. Or to even be more specific, the last battle scene in Shang-Chi.
2 things: 1) id like to see you guys make the most realistic found footage UFO video you can make and see how long it takes to see it end up on RUclipsrs 10 ten best UFO footage videos before admitting it’s yours 2) Can I pleeeeease get an invite to that AI art program you guys did a video on recently. Papapapleeease
Could you please show us a behind the scenes of making of one of these effects and especially how you guys take notes while you apply these effects for the voice over in the video? I think taking notes of all the effects you apply for the video, must be hard work.
yeah luma and luma inverted mattes use the bright and dark values of the precomp to matte the layer beneath, this used precomps because there was multiple smoke layers but if you just have one you can use it as a luma matte without needing to precompose
To everyone reading this... It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if you find that you're not, I pray you’ll find the courage to start over. Stay blessed guys!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Do you think you guys could do a background super speed affect, kinda like how the background looks when atrain killed blue hawk in the boys when he was running.
I'm actually curious on trying this but instead of a 3D element, trying to shoot a practical asset and comp that in. I probably won't be tagging you in because it probably wont look good, haha.
Do it dude . You could shoot it in a hazey enviroment with a hazer or even smoke machine against a black background and do a luma mate . Then track the shot where you're planing to comp it . Integrate the ufo and blend the edges whith stock clouds placed on diferent depths on z axis ad som grain chromatic aberrations and a killer grade. And it shoul look at leadt better than black panther vfx

U.F.O. which I personally saw, recorded - it was last year, for some reason they got interested in me because literally 3 times in a row [day after day] they appeared to me more or less in the same area of the sky as I was riding my bike from the field. I managed to record twice, the third time I took out the camera too late. The object stood still and then flew away with tremendous acceleration. The second sight, it was already evening - then I also recorded the very moment of departure - the object fired with a powerful acceleration, leaving a glow of "atomic light" behind. Moving on to the first sight - suddenly on a bright, sunny day a very bright, unusual, large star appeared to me - I took out the camera and immediately gave a powerful zoom of up to x500. U.F.O. it stood still for a dozen or so seconds, then it fired, disappeared ... I managed to capture a few seconds with a huge zoom. It was primarily a ball of light, from which some "dome" emerged, some "probes" were pulled out, etc ... It was very difficult to tune this object, keep it in the frame at such a huge zoom ... Of course, I can send the source materials to those interested, but I made a cut-scene of the most important moment with a reduction of up to 1% !!! Hey Film Riot I'm a big fan of yours and I really liked the episode! I'd be very happy if you make an episode that explains how to copy the effect in the movie "Top Gun: Maverick" when Tom Cruise is shot with a helicopter (CG) after he crashes, in any case I really appreciate the work you're doing :)
Wow, that effect looks EXPENSIVE. Great job!!
UFO Yeah! Is such a classic short film. Nope has honestly a unique plot
I'm always so amazed by how you guys are incredible at comping. Damn
I don’t know what’s more scarier; the UFO or the UFO with human lips, singing to me before abducting me into the Abyss. 😂

The results look SO GOOD! awesome tutorial
Always love the VFX tutorials. With the release of Prey, it would be neat to see you guys replicate the Predator invisibility effect.

Very cool! But I'm a little lazy on the editing front... I'll try summoning a real alien craft first to get it in-cam.
Ive been watching since the diy slider days and i have to say that i love all of your progress and success. great content!!!

Where did you film the house footage at @0:25? Or is it stock/digital?
