Hi all! Today I thought I would revisit one of my favorite cards from a couple years ago, a fused shaker card with vellum inside. I just loved the dreamy quality of the vellum inside the clear plastic.
In the original card, I used some printed vellum. But since I didn't have any this time around, I stamped the Emma Background stamp from Simon Says Stamp in VersaMark onto the vellum and then heat embossed using my favorite gold embossing powder from Wow.
Then I placed the embossed vellum piece inside a small photo sleeve and use the Fuse Tool to seal off three sides. I filled the pocket with some sequins from the Ocean Sequins mix, and then sealed up the remaining side with the Fuse Tool.
To finish off the card, I watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers on Bristol Smooth paper and then die cut it using the Nested Hearts die set from Simon Says Stamp. I also cut out a white heart for the back of the card (where the message to the recipient will be).
The "Miss You" words were cut using a die set from Simon Says Stamp and then heat embossed using the same gold embossing powder that I used for the vellum piece inside the pocket.

Gorgeous!! I literally just finished making a shaker card similar to this with my Fuse tool when your video popped up. Too funny! Love the gold embossing, TFS!
Do you find the We R Memory keepers fuse tool seals all the edges well? Can you use photo sleeves from a craft store or need their specific ones? Thank you
Deborah Anne Hi! In my personal creating I have not had a problem with the edges unsealing as long as I let my fuse to heat up long enough and I properly run it along the sides. I have had issues with extra fine glitter finding its way out, but otherwise regular glitter, sequins, and beads are fine. I've also just been using some generic 12x12 page protectors that were given to me, so no specific brand is needed, just some plastic that you can fuse together!
Love, love, love it!!!!
Gorgeous!
So pretty...and a good reminder to me to play with my Fuse tool😲
So pretty, reminds me of The Great Gatsby.
How does it remind you of the Great Gatsby?
Maybe because of the art deco look.
Rachel Windhorst I can see that

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Love this card design!! You make using the fuse tool look so easy, and your lines look so even!!! I've been practicing and using it on my own projects, but I'm still working on the right speed (I still have some skipping, and large holes in the stitched pattern of my lines.
Super pretty!!
great card
Now i must have a fuse tool. Goid thing Mother's Day and my birthday are coming up.
very pretty
LOVELY!!!! ☺
Very Pretty!! TFS!!
I remember the original. I made two "cards" which were actually tree decorations with pictures of our dogs in.
This card is beautiful and I love the colors! However where do you write upon it? Or do you/did you enclose it with a note? And you use regular page protectors-pretty neat!
love this card, very pretty. I'm need to use my fuse tool, still in package. thanks Kristina not I'm inspired.
Lovely!!
very pretty :)
This is a beautiful card! I do have a general question. What do you use to get your stamps so clean without taking away from the adhesive?
Love it!
Wow!
Since you love making cards so much have you ever considered mailing some to soldiers, veterans, or children in hospitals? I'm sure they'd love to get beautiful cards as well
So cool tfs! ; )
I adore this and would love to make one similar to it but I don't have a fuse tool. Is there any other way to seal edges in a similar fashion that you're aware of?
Is velum thin plastic? Of it is then doesn't it have poison in it?
Shaker card is my next craft goal. unfortunately there is no Fuse tool in here 😢 🇮🇩any recommendation, Kristina?
Maybe use it a pastry cutting wheel, over some fire so it gets hot, than you seal the plastic?
Jelita Andini are you from Indonesia? 🇲🇨 and to answer your question, try something like a device to melt plastic packagings that's usually for food/snack vendors. I just have that idea tho, not sure if it would work 😂
Laurensia Audrey yes I am from 🇮🇩 😁. Oow riiiight..... I have that sealing tool in my home! great idea! thanks btw 😊😊
Nox Howl a nice alternate way 👍 great tips! thanks 😊
crucibelle my dad has it. but not in dots pattern, just regular straight. but it worths to try 😊 nice tips. thanks!👍
💗💗💗💗
What kind of vellum is that. I saw a video. The. Other day that said vellum couldn’t be imbossed
I have seen mixed reviews of the fuse tool. Does it really seal well as I am worried about losing smaller glitter and beads out of holes at the side. thanks!
+Sally Cain....I have one of these fuse tools....and while I haven't used it a lot...it does work fine. I think a key thing is making sure you put the right amount of pressure...for the right amount of time. And then just shake your shaker piece to make sure nothing is coming out before you finish your card. I've done some practice pieces...and I've had no trouble with them. Hope this helps. Happy paper-crafting! ☺
I'm not sure glitter would work since it's so fine. But beads and sequins should be just fine.
It does take some practice and don't use the channel in the ruler just use the edge. I have used coarse glitter without it coming out but it tends to "stick" to the plastic because of the static.
Works great, just takes some practice. I've used micro beads and glitter just fine. I wipe the inside of the pocket with an old dryer sheet, using my bone folder or a pen to get it into smaller pockets if needed. Helps cut down the static :-)
Anne-Marie Stevenson you can use anti static powder inside the page protector you're going to use, to get rid of the stickiness of glitter and sequence
How do you remove the powder from the acetate after embossing? I tried with a dry paper towel and it didn't work and when I used a wet one it took off the shimmer from the embossing and ruined the card completely
Phenomenal can I buy your cards online?
Thanks! No, I send my cards to family and friends. :)
I looked up the embossing powder and the shipping fee (worldwide) was really high.. almost 5 times the prize of the powder.. so sadly I won’t buy it
