Love the DTMF polling! It is quite rare to hear that. Usually it is done with FSK (not Whelens) instead of 10 digit DTMF. Also the Whelen sounds great! Love the echoes on the “driver killer” tone
honestly everytime i hear the DTMF sounds, i always thought the sirens were talking to each other, sending radio tones to each other about who's going off ndwhich tone it's going to do
@TBB747 I mean collector rings are easy to replace, if the wired break you need a whole new siren, wich costs alot more and is more difficult. But that's just what I think
Mops SPOOF That is actually coming from my scanner monitoring the county dispatch frequency; those are the radio signals to start and stop the siren. While the siren is going, the other tones heard during the test are the computer system checking in on each siren in the county to make sure it’s working, and if not it reports the problem back to the console to notify the authorities so that it can be fixed.
PlatinumEagleStudio's The reason for that is there’s like a warehouse type building next to it with the township offices and a storage building where they store gravel and stuff at for the service department. There’s also a wooded area with houses around too and farmland so all that probably plays a factor, I’ve never heard a Whelen with that sort of echo effect before this one either.
@@sirenfreak57 that explains it. That was some intense echoing. I agree with you, as well. that was probably the most echo I have ever heard in a siren video by far.
@@J19_vlogger74 if you research it the sirens are used for severe thunderstorms, very strong winds and Tornadoes but the main use is for Tornado warnings
I really like how they went from air horn straight to hi lo :)
That activation delay tho. This is definitely a yummy video. :3
SiroKat Sure was, thanks!
Awesome video Kurt! That echo sounded just awesome!
Siren on the preview: looks at me*
Me: Well hello 🗿
Oh, how I loooove air horn!! It makes me so happy. 💕💕

“Hello Vortex, How Are Your Collector Rings Doing?”
Those tones tho
They are faster than usal
@@thehackeroftornadosirens5133 notice how the siren isn't responding to the cancel tone
@@stephensnell1379 there was only one cancellation DTMF strand that was sent. The rest is polling
Great video!
ShowMeSirens130 Thanks!
Nice! Can’t wait to meet up with you sometime next summer.
Thanks! Me too, can't wait to hear a 14V again!
1:11 beeeeeeeeeeepp
the whelen vortex is burping, it better get ready for wps
NIce to meet up again, I'm still surprised they tested
airplanedude Same here, especially with the rain right before the test and everything.
Nice Video, Kurt!
The noticeable thing is that the siren took a few moments to respond to the activation tone as is totally noticeable in this Video
Amazing!

To be fair, that's not entirely inaccurate
Nice!
Iowan Siren Recordings Thank you!
1:21 airhorn 2:16 HI LO
How do you know a siren in a certain area will go off? I've been wanting to explore more but I don't know how
Just curious. How are you able to hear the tones for the siren activations? I want to be able to do that with the ones where I live.
I still dont understand why whelen doesn't put collector rings in their sirens.
@TBB747 I mean collector rings are easy to replace, if the wired break you need a whole new siren, wich costs alot more and is more difficult. But that's just what I think
Why do the Whelen Vortex sirens have a dialling sound during testing and emergencies?

Why does the Air Horn sound delayed? Are there buildings close by? Like the Air Horn sounds like it's lagging.

@@PlatinumEagleStudios they must have designed it with something in the speaker
What does the air horn usually signal?
Probably chemical spill or hazardous waste spill.
1 minute tone and activation delay, not good for an "early warning siren"
Thats just for testing i think
