Square Horned Sentry 20V2T Siren Test - Russiaville, IN

- The most rarest Sentry known to man! This rare Sentry is located on top of the water tower in downtown Russiaville. This tiny town was wiped off the map during the Palm Sunday tornado outbreak, and didn't have any sirens until 1999. They have this Sentry, 2 Model 5s, (one was heard at the beginning of the video) and an STH-10 on the south end of town atop a grain elevator (also heard prominently)
Sirens are tested every Sunday at 3pm.
It has Square horns, I love it! And it sounds cool, It was stucked by Lightning But it’s still up there.
They are going to fix it, someone told me.

Russiaville is the luckiest small town in the U.S. to get one of these rare beauties! They better take good care of it.

It was radio failure, not a strike of lightening. I know this because it has missed out on testing some sundays because of the radio failure, eventually disclosing as OOS.
With a name like "Russiaville", I bet it was the last of the Soviet's missile targets haha.

I saw this video when it was uploaded, I was in 4th grade. No one understood what I was freaking out about.
THIS is a rare siren. Sentry only made a few of these in the 80's or 90's and they shipped with the horns on witch made for a large shipping crate. Then they shortly stopped production of this model because the square horns were much harder to produce. Then the round horned model came along and that is the model they still make today :-) Thanks for finding this rare awesome siren :-D

Nice video, the model 5s are actually model 7s. The one at the Lions Club is a Federal that used to be on top of the Forest VFD and the one at the school is a Darley with a Federal cover. The STH 10 came from Delaware City Fire Company. You are correct the Sentry with the square horns were only built for a short time in the early 80s.

As we know this sentry siren was discontinued. There is a new 2t22 siren. I'm thinking the sentry was struck by lightning. But I think it is still up there.

This siren has been replaced by a Federal Signal 2T22, either due to a lightning strike or a radio failure. RIP, 20V2T.
@*Just Plain Weird Goat* Radio failure. And to answer your question @*Dank Memes*, the proof is that the siren is out of service, and I’ve physically seen the new 2t22 being installed.
Ethan K how do we know it’s radio failure? On the last known recording of this siren the wind down was very quick, eluding to a motor failure of some sort. Wouldn’t they have just replaced the radio equipment instead of buying a new siren site?

the sth10 sounded like an sth10, not a model 5/7. the model 5 did sound like a 2001-130/srn though.

I thought you lived in Hudson wi. There is the p50 up by the watertower near Carmichael road, the allertor with the broken rotator, the 2001 at the school, the t-135/128 by a park on the hill, and the two sirens on the fire dept.

Norfolk Southern RailFan Um actually, no. Sth-10s are 12 port single tone with circular horns. This is a Sentry 20v2t, which is 8/16 port with square horns.

Because a stainless steel siren would be too expensive to manufacture. Stainless steel is more expensive than sheet metal.
Okay, this is a year old, but let me chime in. I remember reading on Sentries website they did make a stainless option for their sirens so that the end user could install it in a heavy gas filled environment and it would not rust or deteriorate. I am not sure if sentry makes a stainless option still though but I do remember reading on their site that they did
