@@ozzzy3z946 cool I keep hearing it’s better than the 7 was last year. If it gets 6 to 6 and a half hours of sot as a few have said then that’s really good. Also seems like the G3 smoothed out a lot of the issues the 6 and 7 series had. Definitely considering the upgrade.

Good review all round! Especially for someone who was struggling to decide which to get. (Settled on the 8pro btw). Just to mention the clip at 3:20 is not the new read aloud feature for tensor 3 as the view on your clip is available on older pixels. If you are not in the US ,you need to change your Google account on the web to US English and then try it again.

I got the Pro... I'd probably have been fine with the 8, but I fully intend to keep this phone at least 4 years (we'll see, I don't have a good track record! 😂) and I always go for the lesser option. I thought sod it. Not regretting it at all, love this phone. I went for Porcelain, the Bay reminds me of a Robin Reliant (3 wheeled car in the 70's... showing my age).

The availability of different storage variants is region-dependent. In the US, the Pixel 8 Pro at least is available in 256 and 512 GB variants in all colours. The Black is also available in a 1 TB variant. In the UK, you halve the storage capacities. So, 128 and 256 GB for blue and white with the 512 GB variant being reserved for the black model. I don't know about the standard Pixel 8.

I was looking for an upgrade from my current iPhone SE2 with a focus on a "good camera" to make better pictures on my next vacation and have some more options then the single 12MP lens on my dated phone. So, coming from there, the 8 would more than suffice and - being a bit more compact - nicer to handle. But, the 8 does not come in that gorgeous blue, which is why I spent the extra money basically only to have that color variant. The technical upgrades from the Pro compared to the 8 are still nice to have, but yeah, in the end I fell victim to the obvious scheme to sell the most gorgeous variant only as the Pro. No regrets though. I briefly considered one of the iPhone 15s but found them too expensive as the Pixel comes with the Pixel 2 watch where I don't have any smart watch currently so the costs of the Series 8 watch from Apple on top propelled that out of my financial comfort zone. Looking forward to dip into Android for a while (I'll probably go back to iOS with the SE4 eventually, but that's too far down the road to wait for). Thanks for your informative reviews!

Got the Pixel 8 Pro (which is a big leap in size from my ASUS Zenfone 9), but I wanted it for its camera smarts, so it really needed a large display to make the most of the on-device editing and AI in Google Photos (think that's something others should consider when they're looking to make the most of the camera system, you'll really appreciate a larger, brighter screen later). Found some initial bugs here and there, laggy and buggy interface, though this is starting to settle down, and some apps that work fine on other devices, refuse to launch on the Pixel 8 Pro (maybe this is an Android 14 issue?).

    • @Read_Heat_

Most people getting the pro would use the pro features once or twice and forget about it. But they'll have to live with a flipflop size phones for the rest of the life of the device. I just think people are fooling themselves to avoid any buyer remorse. The size and battery life are the most important aspect of an object that you carry around everyone, the 2 pics that I'll take with the telephoto here and there are not worth the cumbersome size of the pro (nor the 300€ price difference)

      How long the battery last?

    • @morenokv
      @morenokv Год назад

@@anjalirawat2827 Got a couple days now with it but take what I say with a grain of salt because I came from the pixel 3 so I cant compare to like a newer iphone or anything like that.
When I first got it, pixel has this feature that it copies your old phone (Apps, files, etc..) exactly the same to the new phone. AWESOME feature because I have a ton of work stuff and I almost didnt even make the switch that day because I did not want to deal with configuration and making sure everything was copied correctly. BUT with this feature it dropped my battery percentage to 54%. I let the battery die through use (Only watching youtube, no gaming for me) but it still lasted a while. Then charged it up fully. Mind you I watch mostly youtube on my phone instead of using the TV (Just used to it, I guess) but it lasted a long while compare to my pixel 3 (As it should) but dam this phone is BRIGHT! With that first charge I had the brightness at 70% but now I just have it at 50% brightness so now the battery life is even longer.
I still have the pixel 3 and use it just so I can compare battery life and I would have to charge it everyday but with the pixel 8 I still have juice left the next day and I dont even put the 'battery saver' mode (Usually at home working anyways)
I did get the pixel earbuds for free due to pre-order purchase and I am happy with them but GLAD I didnt pay for these! Granted I maybe a little deaf to how loud my other headphones are but I need them loud and these headphone do NOT get loud at all, I think it relies too much in to the noise cancelation feature but maybe just 25% increase in volume would make these perfect for me!
TLDR: Battery life Amazing! (Take with grain of salt due to coming from a pixel 3)

I looked at the 8, and all in all, I’m quite happy with my 6, and don’t really feel any overwhelming need to upgrade to the plain 8. Especially considering the 8 has a smaller screen (you want a larger screen when you get to be my age).
The 8 Pro was far more enticing. Telephoto, upgraded ultra-wide, even bigger and better screen. And macro (in comparison to my 6, which doesn’t have it). Plus, through Google Fi, I only have to pay $600, spaced out over two years, no interest? I like that a whole lot better than getting a watch I don’t need, and at $1000. Plus the assortment of upgrades? It arrived yesterday. In Bay Blue - though I would have preferred the Hazel of the 8 (the 6 was Sorta Seafoam, and I’ll miss that color).
For anyone else coming at this new, or without the deal I got, I think you summed it up nicely: wanna save money, you don’t want or need a big phone? The base 8 is a great deal. Want to emphasize the photography and need a bigger screen? The 8 Pro. I was definitively in the latter group, and with the price difference down to only $200 and it costing me the same as my base 6 from two years ago (and conveniently paid off next week), it was an easy decision.

I would advise against "everything on the cloud" because when you're in an area with poor to no Internet YOU WILL NOT be able to even look at your own photos if you backed them up to the cloud and deleted them from your device to save space.

That’s why photos are synced locally and if I need a playlist or a map, those are, too.

I have come the conclusion that pixel will always take photos the best way for my taste and iPhones will always be better for video recording...i wish the regular 8 has the same matte coating finish on the back like the pro...besides some people are lookin for a suitable android alternative for the iPhone 15pro ..not all of us like big phones ..

Have had the Pixle Pro 8 for a day and am disappointed by the poor build quality. The aluminum frame is poorly adapted to the phone, the edge of the frame feels cheap, there are gaps at the corners. My 4-year-old One plus Nord has much better build quality. I am also not impressed by the video camera, a lot of flickering when I move the camera. The mobile has a lot of features that you were impressed by 20 years ago. Don't be fooled by the guys who are sponsored by Google, they have been bought and paid for.

There is a poor fit between the aluminum and the mobile's frame. Run your fingers and you can feel the aluminum edge, on mine it slips in the corners. My old One plus Nord has a much better finish.@@Tractorboy_19

The camera also has a sharp edge, should have been rounded. As it is now, the mobile feels uncomfortable to hold. The mobile has similar poor build quality as American cars.@@Tractorboy_19

The 8 looks less bright than the 8 pro, the pixel 7 screen was too dim is the 8 brighter than the 7?

They both have higher peak brightnesses than the phones they replace, yes.

Are you talking manual brightness using the slider? I'm not sure what the standard brightness is on these phones, only that they're brighter than the previous models . The pixel 7 manual display brightness was around 490 nits, the 7pro version slightly higher, pixel 6 was around 505 nits manual max brightness
