Got the Pixel 8 Pro (which is a big leap in size from my ASUS Zenfone 9), but I wanted it for its camera smarts, so it really needed a large display to make the most of the on-device editing and AI in Google Photos (think that's something others should consider when they're looking to make the most of the camera system, you'll really appreciate a larger, brighter screen later). Found some initial bugs here and there, laggy and buggy interface, though this is starting to settle down, and some apps that work fine on other devices, refuse to launch on the Pixel 8 Pro (maybe this is an Android 14 issue?).

I'd love to upgrade my Pixel 5. But with no support for worldwide 5G, it's impossible. I travel a lot, and I need fast internet. I have simcards from 7 different countries and most of them won't work with Pixel, but work with Samsung and other brands.
Trading in my Pixel Pro 7 for the Pixel 8, I used to purchase the top end of phones but I just want a smaller size of phone and I know I won't miss the higher res screen and extra bells and whistles.😊
I looked at the 8, and all in all, I’m quite happy with my 6, and don’t really feel any overwhelming need to upgrade to the plain 8. Especially considering the 8 has a smaller screen (you want a larger screen when you get to be my age). The 8 Pro was far more enticing. Telephoto, upgraded ultra-wide, even bigger and better screen. And macro (in comparison to my 6, which doesn’t have it). Plus, through Google Fi, I only have to pay $600, spaced out over two years, no interest? I like that a whole lot better than getting a watch I don’t need, and at $1000. Plus the assortment of upgrades? It arrived yesterday. In Bay Blue - though I would have preferred the Hazel of the 8 (the 6 was Sorta Seafoam, and I’ll miss that color). For anyone else coming at this new, or without the deal I got, I think you summed it up nicely: wanna save money, you don’t want or need a big phone? The base 8 is a great deal. Want to emphasize the photography and need a bigger screen? The 8 Pro. I was definitively in the latter group, and with the price difference down to only $200 and it costing me the same as my base 6 from two years ago (and conveniently paid off next week), it was an easy decision.
I'm currently on a OnePlus 9pro which has a 6.7 inch display. I want to get the pixel 8 but at the same time I'm so confused on it's screen size. I watch a lot of RUclips on my phone so I do prefer a larger screen size so I'm kinda split on whether or not to get the pro. The pro is out of my budget though, so guess I'll probably wait for a price drop.
If you're in the U.S. you can pick up the Pixel 8 for $400 and the 8 Pro for $600 from Google FI. The only catch is that you have to stay on Fi for 120 days. FI uses both T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular towers which works perfectly fine for me. and I live out in the sticks.
Which ecosystem do you prefer or currently use? I have an iPhone and pixel ( older models ) I find the pixel much more user friendly and intuitive and my iPhone a bit stuffy and restrictive. I've not noticed any difference in performance. Both cameras are good, just different styles. Video seems better on the iPhone . Battery also seems a tad better on my iPhone. Can't go wrong with either really
I would advise against "everything on the cloud" because when you're in an area with poor to no Internet YOU WILL NOT be able to even look at your own photos if you backed them up to the cloud and deleted them from your device to save space.
I really like Google phone . using pixel 2 I really love it because I give best phone in world to pixel phone .I hope one the price will go down more so we can buy some thank you Google product

Have had the Pixle Pro 8 for a day and am disappointed by the poor build quality. The aluminum frame is poorly adapted to the phone, the edge of the frame feels cheap, there are gaps at the corners. My 4-year-old One plus Nord has much better build quality. I am also not impressed by the video camera, a lot of flickering when I move the camera. The mobile has a lot of features that you were impressed by 20 years ago. Don't be fooled by the guys who are sponsored by Google, they have been bought and paid for.
There is a poor fit between the aluminum and the mobile's frame. Run your fingers and you can feel the aluminum edge, on mine it slips in the corners. My old One plus Nord has a much better finish.@@Tractorboy_19
The camera also has a sharp edge, should have been rounded. As it is now, the mobile feels uncomfortable to hold. The mobile has similar poor build quality as American cars.@@Tractorboy_19
Are you talking manual brightness using the slider? I'm not sure what the standard brightness is on these phones, only that they're brighter than the previous models . The pixel 7 manual display brightness was around 490 nits, the 7pro version slightly higher, pixel 6 was around 505 nits manual max brightness
Lens transition while using video on the P8 Pro is a real thing. It's very annoying and looks like trash for a $1,000 phone. It's one thing that might make me return it.

Or just stay with your own phone. If it ain't broke...
Good informative video, thanks 😉
Why no reviews mention the speaker quality?
My read aloud doesn't sound like this it sounds sped up. Even with the slowest setting. Any tips on fixing it
is it better than xiaomi 13t pro ?
Can't you download a 3rd party photo app for all the "pro" features?
Sir, I have to choose between iPhone 15 plus and pixel 8
Please help
Which ecosystem do you prefer or currently use? I have an iPhone and pixel ( older models ) I find the pixel much more user friendly and intuitive and my iPhone a bit stuffy and restrictive. I've not noticed any difference in performance. Both cameras are good, just different styles. Video seems better on the iPhone . Battery also seems a tad better on my iPhone. Can't go wrong with either really
I'm testing the 8 pro, however, so far thebphotos are better feom my 14 pm
Nice wallpaper BTY!
I wish they did the 8 in that matt blue effect.
I'm thinking of getting the Google pixel 8 pro tbh
For how I use a smartphone the Pixel 8 is more than enough coming from a Xiaomi Mi 11 lite 5g which is no slouch either.
I’ll wait for the pixel 8A that’s gonna be some kinda phone
Pixel 8. I really dislike large phones especially when cased.
Another absolutely “bonkers” video. Thank you
I’ll take that as a compliment - thank you 👍
I would advise against "everything on the cloud" because when you're in an area with poor to no Internet YOU WILL NOT be able to even look at your own photos if you backed them up to the cloud and deleted them from your device to save space.
That’s why photos are synced locally and if I need a playlist or a map, those are, too.
I really like Google phone . using pixel 2 I really love it because I give best phone in world to pixel phone .I hope one the price will go down more so we can buy some thank you Google product
My 8Pro will be here later today. 👍🇺🇸
Both. The Pro for me, and the standard for my partner
I wish the green color came in the pro version
I have come the conclusion that pixel will always take photos the best way for my taste and iPhones will always be better for video recording...i wish the regular 8 has the same matte coating finish on the back like the pro...besides some people are lookin for a suitable android alternative for the iPhone 15pro ..not all of us like big phones ..
@@Tractorboy_19
There is a poor fit between the aluminum and the mobile's frame. Run your fingers and you can feel the aluminum edge, on mine it slips in the corners. My old One plus Nord has a much better finish.@@Tractorboy_19
The camera also has a sharp edge, should have been rounded. As it is now, the mobile feels uncomfortable to hold. The mobile has similar poor build quality as American cars.@@Tractorboy_19
The 8 looks less bright than the 8 pro, the pixel 7 screen was too dim is the 8 brighter than the 7?
They both have higher peak brightnesses than the phones they replace, yes.
Are you talking manual brightness using the slider? I'm not sure what the standard brightness is on these phones, only that they're brighter than the previous models . The pixel 7 manual display brightness was around 490 nits, the 7pro version slightly higher, pixel 6 was around 505 nits manual max brightness
@@marksouthwell4490 manual brightness sorry I forgot to mention that.
The pixel ate 😂 nice video bro respect 💯
Why does no1 talk about camera viewfinder and video stuttering on the P8 series!
Probably because they haven't noticed it? I certainly haven't.
Lens transition while using video on the P8 Pro is a real thing. It's very annoying and looks like trash for a $1,000 phone. It's one thing that might make me return it.
I want the pro but I'm broke :(
What a joke no charger, no cable no SD card slot very important. And 99% charge you way too much for what
i have the *bay* one, its great but too big 😮
I have the pro but I like the pixel 8 over the pro
I got the pixel 8
I take it that this video is mainly aimed at Americans as you are talking dollars with the prices?
Did you not catch the intro?
@@MarkEllisReviewsOops! No, I didn’t, my mistake.Wasn’t criticising anyway, just saying.Nothing wrong with that.I wish American RUclipsrs would sometimes quote in pounds as well instead of aiming at just their US audience.
But then it could be argued reviewers should quote in Euros, Yen, Rupees, Roubels etc. Where would they stop? Prices can be checked online in a heartbeat anyway. @@davidjacobs6244
@@davidjacobs6244 Good stuff!
@@davidjacobs6244I agree, but don't forget us here in the Eurozone 😎
You will never notice 8 vs 12 GB of ram unless you are playing games. Then again, who plays games on their phones these days. I use my steam deck for gaming and kids uses Nintendo switch
7:15 pretty pointless test if you ask me. You had to talk in it and lower the wind noice..lol...
Eh?
Anyone can do your "test" with any software. Just lower the sound. Google tech is meant to remove car honk from the background for example if you are playing guitar. Or remove other people talking if you are making commentary (i wish you were talking in it and removed other people voice and wind) @@MarkEllisReviews
@@Nobzu have a watch of my full Pixel 8 Pro Review. This was a short clip from it.
Pixel 8
Call me mad but received my pixel 8 pro. Sorry s23 ultra on sale.😊
That's not mad at all!
Mine Google pixel 7a
😂 Don't worry if I miss something my pixel 8 AI will fix it for me people below
He got paid well to say all of those nice things about the phones. :/
If Google had paid me I’d have to declare this video as sponsored by Google. Did you see that declaration anywhere?
Why do you think I was paid? Because I like these devices?
