Brakes are one of the most important things to visually inspect and maintain on your motorcycle. The front brake is where you get the majority of your stopping power and if you don't have any material left on your brake pads. You could be in for a surprisingly bad day if you are in need of having to stop quickly. It's imperative that you visually inspect your brake pad thickness periodically. "But how do I do that? When is the right time to change my brake pads? How do I replace my brake pads?" you ask. Don't worry we got you covered.
In this helpful tutorial by Steve Knoble of Knoble Moto, you will learn what to visually inspect your brake pads and learn how to judge if they need to be replaced. You will also learn how to remove and replace the brake pads on this 2012 Harley-Davidson Sportster. So grab some tools, grab a beverage and let's get to work.

"40'000th of an inch" "no less than roughly the thickness of a dime" Americans would rather die than just use millimeters

Thanks for these videos, just watched the one for installing new brake disc as well. You do a better job than Harley at these videos. Love all the chopper content as well though.

This is the first time Ive ever seen someone mention a paint pen. Ive been doing that for years and always get asked why there is paint on my bolts.

It’s a great way to keep an eye on things. I learned it in the aerospace industry.

I do it on bolts too. Handlebars too. As a reference.

my front brake was fine for awhile after the fresh build .....then, on a long ride, my front brake started dragging....then it started clamping; and i had to stop, to let it cool down..
Steam...somehow i got Water in there...i thought i might have been condensate because it sat empty for awhile..
i found a deal on a venturi bleeder; because the seals were blown, and i had to do it over .. and i wouldn't have even known it if i didn't get the power bleeder, but my bleeder valve is leaking....looking back, that's how it happened; the water would have gotten in through the leaky bleeder valves, and blew out seals in the caliper and master...so make sure your bleeders seal.

That’s why God invented the metric system 😂
Instead of 50 thousandth’s of an inch. We say 3mm.
