      The same disparity is evident in lions, though not so much in (African) leopards and cheetah. A male lion can weigh as much as twice the kgs of a female. While the females are better hunters, the males provide the coup de grace on large kills like buffalo and also protect kills from hyena, which are absolutely terrified of pride leaders but will happily goad and berate female lions if they outnumber them.

    • @GunavardhanBomma-wd7zo
      @GunavardhanBomma-wd7zo 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@davesmith826 Yeah, it’s amazing too see a king be a 👑! Hyenas are also afraid of lioness though if it’s a 4:1 ratio(I believe) or higher they will most likely take their chances. Hyenas are more scared of male lions even if it’s a 50:1 ratio purely because male lions have a larger instinct to kill and are more aggressive and violent toward hyenas than lionesses. Though they’d probably win in a 50:1 situation, they don’t think it’s a good bang for its buck as they prob lose many members.

    I think the two are mates or in the middle of a courtship…tigers are solitary creatures and that kill and the area around it would have been reeking of the male tiger’s scent. The male would have never abandoned its kill in the open like that if it didn’t know there wasn’t another tiger in the vicinity. At that sort of range, even if abandoned, they would have smelt each other from way off…so I suspect these two are a pair and this is a courtship ritual where the male asserts dominance and gets the best chunk of the meal and then the female will be invited to eat after he has had his share and abandoned it. The other reason that these two must be a pair was because he didn’t kill her - just the sheer size difference is massive

    Unlike lions, tigers are solitary. That means even if a small injury means they will have problems with hunting and survival becomes an issue. So tigers are extremely careful about getting into fighting unless it is an absolute need. That's one reason why here male tiger didn't go further once it realized female is submissive. Being solitary is another reason why tigers are generally hiding most of the time as for them surprise ambush is a vital strategy for survival - for both successful hunting with least damage to itself and avoiding unwanted confrontation with others.

    1:29 the male stands perpendicular and almost chuffs at the female. The female is a known one and was pushing her luck. The male did not want to hurt her, it would take him few seconds to lay waste to her. He is around 5.5 ft head to base so probably 11 feet in length, big boy but probably will grow further to be prime some time.

    Adding my 2¢ here…. Like other posters said, this is the first time i saw an Asian wildlife video on your channel. And i think its a good idea to expand your horizons, especially during slow times…. Having said that, i would like to see some North American, or all “New World” for that matter, videos on this channel. As long they’re good quality videos that are in line with the African ones normally posted.

    Tigers have a very peculiar style of fighting, they stand on their hind legs and strike with their front paws. If you look at lions, they can't do that, they have weak hind legs. Tigers are real boxers, and lions are wrestlers
