This is not a kit for beginners. I found the assembly of the "duders" to be similar to those included in the Indomitus box. There is a sweet spot for the parts to fit so you just need a bit of patience to find it. Tamiya extra thin is ideal. The sub assemblies make it easier to paint. all that to say, just take your time. This is the centerpiece of a Necron army and it deserves to be built and painted well.
@@earth2earl would love to. But my wife would kill me for paying $150 for a pile of plastic. The Repulsor, (in addition to my other GW faction purchases) almost got me kicked out the house.
@@SaltyBob355 you should think about your relationship if doing your hobby gets you in trouble. I don't get it, why bothering with a relationship like this if the other person wants to kick you out of the house for doing what you like 🤔
It is expensive, but it is worth it. It is a unique surpreme commander and something very special. It is as big as a Demon Primarch, but not as massive, but filled with details. The kit is cool, but there are a few very difficult parts, the both Triarch mebers are a hell to assemble, the rest is ok. One of the best things is, that you can build in modules, for better painting before final glueing...
Looking at the instructions, I think I'd probably partly assemble the Throne and paint it then put it fully together. Looks like a pain to paint if fully assembled
Thank you for being honest and not just a GW hype machine. The model is gorgeous for sure, but all the points you raise are super valid and should be considered against the hobby dollar. Thanks again for a solid review!
Not a Necron player myself, but really appreciating the non-biased breakdown of this model. It's as close as I'll see in detail without buying it. Something of this size will definitely catch the attention of many players old and new. I can't help but be slightly amused over one the most approachable factions to build and paint having this level of center-piece model. Intentional or not I feel the designer had a dark and ironic sense of humor there.
This will be my 3rd miniature. My first was Belisaurias Cawl, didn’t so much as dive into the deep end, so much as learned to swim in Mariana’s Trench. My second is Ghazkull Thraka. I’ve learned to just buy the shit that looks dope, and take my time putting them together over days. Don’t play 40k, but have a growing Black Library.
My biggest issue Is that in the books dante's description of the silent king being almost human like and completely different than the necrons but still necron this guy looks like a generic lord with a silly massive cape and an awful crown that would have massive issues getting through any door
This kit is brutal, but it is also the best looking model in the army, and you only have to build one. Definitely the worst build experience I've had, 0/10. Glad mine somehow turned out well.
Void Dragon takes the best necron kit spot for me tbh. But this one is really awesome. Just not a huge fan of diorama miniatures, since they lose a lot of "life" since poses really cant be all that dynamic.
GW has a serious issue designing they're builds for Necron units. Like they're vehicles go together really well, but the obsessions with making you put together 15 parts for the upper body, then sliding in 12 other parts for the legs needs to stop. It makes building these things an absolute pain in the ass.
Hey bud. Been enjoying the channel and noticed you had Dicehead mentioned in your videos. Are you local to them? They've been a local & semi-local LGS for me for a bit.

With that in mind, is it worth the $150?
I love the subtle shade in the comment "I don't have time to put a magnet here because I just spent 6 hours putting this thing together."
For $150, shoulda had fiberoptic green bits and pre-setup for green LED wiring.

Awesome review!i think the reason its so intricate and flimsy is due to the fact that GW is deterring fake 40k products recasting industry imho..
