Hope you find this interesting :) What If on Halo 3's final mission the portal on the Ark sends the Forward unto Dawn carrying Master Chief, Cortana and Arbiter (all together, two or one depending if the ship splits or not) A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away . . . . Star Wars (or to be more specific at the start or little before the Phantom Menace or New Hope) See more of the story below!?! This is a work in progress! but feel free to take, edit and use in your final draft if you wish, just a small mention/credit of what I may have contributed will be fine with me :) SWPM option 1, Arbiter: The front half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Arbiter teleports into the Star Wars galaxy at speed, passes the CIS blockade, who are left wondering WTF was that, but of course turn their attention to another approaching ship ( Qui Gon Jinn / Obi Wan kenobi journey stays the same for now ... ) Arbiter crashes into the ocean or large lake on the planet of Naboo, after salvaging what he can and escaping the sinking wreck Arbiter sets off in search of civilization ... only at first to find Jar Jar Binks !?! ... After setting up camp for the night and having something to eat ( either human ration packs salvaged from the F.U.D | or some form of creature that Arbiter would be able to catch/eat ) lured by the smell of food Jar Jar " Attempts " to sneak up! ... Only to get caught (detected via Arbiters hunter/warrior senses ... that or his motion tracker) after a lot of begging/bargaining Arbiter takes pity on him and offers Jar Jar a deal, guide him to the " Human " capital of Naboo in exchange for food/protection (Jar Jar of course would accept this offer, what with being banished from going home for being clumsy) along the way perhaps they'll find a crashed but still operational warthog (which is worse, trusting Jar Jar to drive or shoot !) after some driving they come under attack from scouts of the droid invasion followed by the JEDI who come to their aid and ... could also appreciate a ride ... ( JJ will likely call Arbiter " Arby " for short throughout the story ) SWPM option 2, Chief / Cortana: The back half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Chief / Cortana teleports into from their perspective a unknown region of space! Cortana of course will start running scans of the area and drop a beacon for potential rescue (for about 4 years, 7 months, 10 days she won't be suffering from rampancy yet) ... oh would you look at that its the ship that Qui Gon Jinn/ Obi Wan kenobi are traveling on, after some basic introductions / explanations the JEDI will ask if MC/C would like to accompany them to the planet of Naboo or wait for another ship to give them a tow 1a) if they stay some time later the JEDI will send a message saying the CIS have just attempted to kill them, rather than being sitting ducks, Cortana uses what control they have over the F.U.D to steer it to Naboo for a controlled crash landing then using a escape pod. 1b) if they leave with the JEDI, the F.U.D will be left behind for now, will it stay adrift in space, get caught in Naboo's gravitational pull and crash there!) When arriving at the CIS blockade MC/C will have another two choices 2a) Stay in ship until what should be " short negotiations " are over! ... outcome: ship gets blown up with MC/C just about escaping the blast or rises from the wreckage like a Demon to the bewilderment of the battle droids 2b) Join the JEDI in the meeting to introduce themselves to this new galaxy or pretend to be acting security! ... outcome: oh boy, if the CIS were spooked about JEDI showing up in the original story, what are going to think Chief is ... Mandalorian perhaps ( they won't know anything about Cortana yet ) When Lord Sidious gives the order " kill them immediately " so the CIS blows up the horse they rode in on and " try " to gas the JEDI / Chief ... pfffft ha ha ha ha HAHAHAHAHAHAHA cue the song ( Unyielding Soul ) | whichever scenario plays they link up and fight their way to the bridge (next question is can Cortana interface/hack the doors for the bridge e.g. is there a control panel they can hack close by? ... also don't forget the blast doors) still even after all that the droidika's with their shields may still be problematic leading to the group needing to sneakoff the ship! SWPM option's 1/2 combined: When combining these perspectives most details stay the same, with the exception of Chief / Cortana telling the JEDI that Arbiter is about to crash-land on the planet of Naboo (or already has) they'll also be able to keep in contact with Arbiter via COM's until the CIS blocks communications!

i believe there was a mention that the silent king was building a massive necron pilon network to cut the galaxy off from the warp to one make it so the tyrinid synaps network no longer works making all tyrinids in the galaxy wild beasts and two stop chaos. but guiliman was being forced to get involved cause that would also kill every psycher including the emperor meaning no more warp travel meaning a doomed humanity

It is virtually Impossible Zharekh was the Silent King who declared the war in Heaven. We know from the Infinite and the Divine the war lasted five million years in total and even assuming the first phase where the necrons were defeated was a very small portion of that, it it could still be thousands of years. Meanwhile Necrontyr very rarely lived to be 60 IF they were the highest royalty. Zharekh was probably the guy who got handed a dumpsterfire of an Empire by his forebears and in his despair and wish to save his people, he agreed to Biotransference.
So basically zharekh got the BS taking care of the war In heaven by their forebears mistake and he only did mistake is the biotransference with the ctan
@@xnikolasbs2230 yeah zharekh worst time of his life being the leader at least he got his get back but now in Warhammer 42nd millennium HE FREAKING SLEEP LIKE BRUH
Small note: the deceiver was not called the deceiver by the Necrons until after Biotransference. To the Necrons he was called “The Messenger” while to his C’tan siblings he was called the deceiver
I always imagined that Szarek didn't declare war on the Old Ones and instead he was the last of a long line of successors to the one that did. He ended up inheriting the mess his predecessors started and was desperate for an out, and so went with the C'tan as it was perceived as his only good option. The war likely lasted longer than the average Necrontyr lifespan, so the Silent King who started the war saw his race unified, said "I got mine," and died before having to see the terrible end.
@@collecter343 yall are forgetting the necrons canonically had stasis crypts by then, they used them to slowboat between the stars, the silent king could easily have only been coming out of stasis for a few months every couple decades to give out orders and so on.

"...I made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgement, and I don’t expect to be forgiven..." -Excerpt from Szarekh's final 'speech' before departing the galaxy
Local Necron nerd checking in. As far as what he's been doing, he is the driving force behind the Pariah Nexus, aka the "Warp be gone" field in the Nephilim sector of the galaxy that prevents Chaos from manifesting entirely and screws with the Nids at the small cost of slowly sucking away the souls of those inside not strong enough to resist it's pull, but that really isn't a problem for the Necrons. Originally it was just the one but as of the new Codex there appear to be more popping up around the galaxy, implying that he plans on implementing it on a larger (perhaps galactic) scale. Also, since the new codex has come out, the rivalry between Imotekh and Szarekh has begun to ramp up into what many believe to be the beginnings of a civil war, though it has yet to heat up into outright fighting. This is assumed to be the next direction the Necrons will take plotwise. So, for what is arguably the most historically important figure in the setting, he has a grand total of 1 and half plotlines going on. Not much but it's better than the purgatory the Ynnari and Votann have been left in I guess. EDIT: As of the new Crusade book, the civil war between Szarekh and Imotekh is officially underway. Feeling the heat of having to fight 3 enemies at once (Imotekh, Imperium with a whole new crusade force led by Cawl himself and now Vashtorr is showing up), Szarekh is beginning to unveil some of the weapons from the War in Heaven he had stowed away. This causes Imotekh to proclaim Szarekh "dishonorable" as he himself is strictly abiding by the codes of warfare as proclaimed by Necron law, causing some, like Orikan, to defect to Imotekh's side. And now, the Pariah Nexus is a 4-way shitshow of Imperium vs Chaos vs Necrons vs other Necrons.
That was also one of the more refreshing things about the Lion's return, I think. As soon as he figures out what's been going on, he literally just goes "oof, I WAS the a-hole" and actually starts trying to make amends. It was a nice change of pace. Grimdark loses dramatic tension if you don't have at least a few people trying to go against the grain and bring a little contrast.
The Silent King, when one of my favorite 40k characters. Something tells me the story we are told about the war in heaven is not the whole story of the matter.
@genericdude5017 I'd prefer they don't elaborate. Anytime and IP tries to elaborate on the past, it always makes what was special so fucking lame and boring *COUGH COUGH* Forerunners in Halo *COUGH COUGH*
The account we have is from the Eldar’s histories. Would not be surprised at all if massive chunks were missing. Would love a Horus Hearst style novel series about the war in heaven. However I also welcome it being mysteriois
Two things I noticed: Necrons absolutely do go mad over time, it’s only the most “obsessive” ones that can maintain their sanity over the thousands of years. That’s why Trazyn is pretty sane compared to most. The Silent King ignores this because his body is absolutely perfectly made, no mechanical or psychological degradation whatsoever. Second, as per the new codex, The Silent King has ordered the creation of the Pariah Nexus, seemingly to contain the Great Rift, and to separate the souls from mortal bodies.
A note on what you were saying at 8:50 about the soul: in The Infinite and the Divine, Orikan and Trazyn both make reference to the idea that the necron can no longer engage in art. Whether it be the ceramics that Orikan smashes or the stage play of another species, they could not engage with it in an artistic way because they ultimately lacked any sustained feeling. They could replicate things at the technical level, sure, or criticize them and extrapolate their meaning, but it wouldn't feel like art to them. Conversely, we know that the Eldar are possessed of incredibly large souls to the extent that art and culture are experienced to a higher level than any human. In humans you have a bit more of a spectrum from psykers to blanks. These 3 perspectives sort of give an interesting idea of the soul in relation to its "size" in 40k. It seems to me that the Necrons being soulless isn't just like not having an organ, it's their ability to have any emotional grounding outside of their ingrained power structures or personal obsessions. They're always just smart enough to know what they've lost, but they are never even able to remember the feel of it.
Hmmmm. It makes me think of how undead are driven less by actual wants and more by "compulsions". The skeleton isn't farming or mining because he enjoys it, because there's any innate sense of satisfaction in doing so, he does it become this is what he does. The vampire king still "loves" people but it's more an inescapable need to be around them and own them or else they experience distress.
It just hit me that this is actually a really solid description of what chronic high-functioning depression feels like. You know what you are conceptually "supposed" to feel at any given moment, and you vaguely remember what these emotions used to feel like (which is naturally how you are very self-aware of their current absence), but the feelings and emotions just don't seem to happen much anymore. It's an incredibly aggravating, gnawing itch in your mind. Like continuously trying to crank a car engine that just will not turn over. The gas just will not flow. The Necrons are experiencing something like this on a society-sized scale, and they want to recover from it. It really does make the Necron storyline more interesting.
Tbh, writing soulless characters is hard because sometimes you make them ultra boring or give them too much personality that you might make a “soul” just an organ.
This would conflict with the caricature of human blanks in the setting. I think it more likely that, like blanks, they just have a different kind of soul (or in their case, a small fragment thereof). Their inability to feel emotions, then, is the condition of being made from metal, and therefore not having the necessary biological hardware for emotions.
Much like how every sentence hyping up Nagash must end with "Such is the power of Nagash." Any and all sentences hyping up the Silent King must end with "For he is the Breaker of Gods." I don't make the rules that's just how it is.
"Such as the power of Nagash, for he is the Breaker of the Gods." I know it's not remotely what you meant, but it does make sense as a sentence. Maybe not in lore, though. I don't know enough to judge that.
I agree with you saying the Necrons are underutilized. They're basically irrelevant to the plot in the modern era of 40k. If they never woke up and just stayed as a historical race with their relics spread over the galaxy, you'd barely feel the impact.
All the xenos races are underutilized. They are too passive in their writing. GW put themselves into the dumbest corner possible with only one storyline. The Imperium vs everyone else. Instead of having several storylines running congruently with one another. Hell the timelines don't even have to align with one another because events happen over hundreds of years. Its like they have this massive blank canvas and they choose to paint inside one small corner of it. The only thing people have is waiting for which Primarch is coming back.
@@taahirsa7673 Which is a shame. There's a whole galaxy and 10,000 years of space to fill, yet "superpowered manchild" seems to be what gets everyone going.
The old ones may have some what brought this on themselves. Not handing out immortality to anyone who asks is smart but when you have the ability to do anything and say no to a guy who only wants you to cure his cancer it’s understandable to hold a grudge
not gonna lie, I almost feel like if they were smarter, they could have argued that "what we have isn't immortality, just a really long life span, that lifespan when placed upon your damaged forms is still only going to add so much" basically just lie
@@spencerc4252 They could've also just, you know, used their gigabrains to give them the cure to cancer and say "Here you go, now fuck off" and that would be the end of it. The Necrontyr literally only wanted an escape from their mega-cancer ridden lives.
@@mr.revrac5602 They wouldn't exactly stop making wars if they lived less, that is just part of mortal (and even immortal) nature. Them living longer would just make their citizens lifes better.
This is one episode I've been looking forward to, since the Silent King has always been one of my favorite characters, despite knowing nothing about him, ever since I saw Isyander and Koda's bit of him sprinting back to the galaxy screaming "BUGSBUGSBUGSBUGSBUGSBUGS" while waking up all the dynasties after running into the Tyranid Hive Fleet.
Actually, the silent king has done something. He did the Pariah Nexus which was supposed to lead to a big story event with G Man but is likely to go nowhere and hasn’t been touched
Yeah, wasn't that half the point of the last bloody edition? The indomitus crusade was split between dealing with the 13th black crusade, but also this creeping sector of necron darkness in which the silent king was building a superweapon to destroy all life in the galaxy to defeat the tyranids. I guess pancreas doesn't read codex lore or which baldemort's excellent readings so hasn't realised there is lore.
@@ScotRotumwait I thought the whole point of defeating the tyranids for them was to reverse bio transference with one of the surviving species. What would be the point of killing all life if they'll be alone and stuck in a metal soulless machine forever and ever.
The silent king actually has been doing something noteworthy. He has teamed up with the other necrons and is the main commander of the Pariah Nexus defence force, taking control of thousands of armies at once amlnd turning the tide against any current imperium forces holding out there. This became such a problem that all the imperium forces already fighting there could do is use the best of their psykers to send a psychic message to Terra to ask for reinforcements in a suicide attempt due to how the nexus works. He even obliterated an entire planet with his ship due to an imperial commander not accepting an honourable duel from a necron overlord. Now why do not so many people know about this? Because GW decided it should be a passage in White Dwarf #480 instead of anywhere else. This is gonna continue in the upcoming pariah nexus crusade book apparently
That's a bit miss, GW got the community site, the yt channel and warhammer plus, instead they limit his actions to a physical magazine. Meanwhile Jonson got like 10 community posts in 2 months
Necrons seem to have the opposite problem in 40k than the Eldar. The Eldar are relatively popular but are pretty much only used rarely in the lore and only to be the punching bag for whoever is the protagonist. The Necrons aren't played that often, oddly, but in ANY lore they are just as terrifying and OP against anyone they come across as they should be considering they went toe-to-toe with the Eldar, the Krorks, and the Old Ones in the War of Heaven and nearly won! At least, that's what it seems like to me...
Well I mean they achieved their main goals and only went to sleep because they almost destroyed themselves. I would count that as a win not only for them at first but then it became a win for everyone. The war in heaven was never a loss for the necrons. They lost none of their tech and their greatest leaders. They should be treated as op as possible. Their nearest to their war in heaven level out of any faction
NECRONS have JUST the right combination of grimdark, horrible suffering, and AGENCY. Low on calories though. Or hyper dense. Not sure how our digestion works.
well calories arent inherently tied to digestion, its a measure how good it is at making water boil when burning, which is why uranium has like billions of calories, but wed be unable to use them. so considering theyre made of a scifi metal, propably dense
I really liked them, however I think GW made an interesting choice with a lot sort of not lining up with the Infinite and the Divine. A lot of cool concepts but at the same time I was thinking what is going to be retconed.
wasn't the infinite and the divine and the twice dead king written at the same time but by different writers with little to no communication causing the inconsistencies with the lore.@@somethinglikethat2176
Orikan thinks he was against the transfer but almost every Necron thinks something somewhat similar. All their brains about the transfer are messed up.
Yes and no. I believe both Orikan and Trazyn were dragged in chains. We know from people who actually remember that shit some were literally chained to the fires.
@@berilsevvalbekret772 Yes and no. they both also think eachother helped the C'tan during the process, like it was said, the C'tan messed with all of their memories so it would be harder to revolt against them
10:45 I think Pancreas forgot that C’Tan are essential to the galaxy and when a shard is destroyed, reality unveils. Sure, the Flayer cursed the Necron, but what would happen if say- Nyadra'zatha, the Burning One, the one chained to Szareks Dias of Dominion, was completely annihilated? He can tunnel into the webway! If the flayer maked the necrons want to eat meat, then imagine that damage.
That's the entire problem with this setting, the space marines win everything and almost every book on xenos is always from the perspective of either the imperium (mostly the marines because ofcourse) or chaos space marines (because also ofcourse) making the imperium be the main focus of the setting was a horrible mistake on GWs part, aswell as making the imperium seem like they are the good guys and everyone else is wrong compared to them aswell.
The silent king is my favorite 40K character. The fact that he as a semi god like being is so flawed just makes him even more interesting to me. But yeah we need a dedicated novel about him and what he’s been up to these past few centuries
What I really love about the Silent King honestly is in many ways he's very similar to the Emperor of Mankind. Both were men who at a pivotal junction in their races history forcibly took control of their people through the use of god-like beings (the Silent King using the C'tan and the Emperor using the Thunder Warriors then later on Primarchs and Astartes), then pretty much weaponized their entire species to wage a galactic war against anything and everything only to later then have said god-like beings betray them and ruin everything. To me I feel like the fact both of their tales are so similar really helps highlight what both of them are like as characters. From all his actions during and after the War in Heaven you could tell the Silent King, for all his faults, seemed to genuinely care for his people and was remorseful for what he had ultimately done to them. Of course he blames the C'tan for a good chunk for it but he at least seems to recognize that it was his actions that allowed the C'tan to do that to his people too. If that wasn't the case I don't think he would've forced himself into exile *and* come back upon discovering the Tyranids. From everything that I've seen of the Emperor however, even though he can't really talk about it right now I get the feeling that even now he wouldn't hold himself accountable for the Heresy. Instead he'd choose to only blame the Chaos Gods and his own sons' failings for the second fall of humanity, not realizing it was his own pragmatic and callous actions during a lot of it that allowed Chaos to infiltrate his sons so easily. Of course Chaos has its own way of worming into everything but with doing shit like not helping Angron and Mortarion at all and absolutely humiliating Lorgar and Perturabo the Emperor didn't exactly make it hard for Chaos to do so.
Apparently, fighting other civilizations outside of our galaxy, ALONE, with his ship as help If we can take what was said in the 10th eddition codex seriously, then he is powerful enough to destroy... i dunno... the Tau purely by himself and his ship.
@@theodorehodbor5080but the main difference between Szerakh and the Emperor is that Szerakh was no godlike psychic chosen one, he was an unwitting pawn but that didn't stop him from making things right. He didn't have to stand up to the most horrifyingly powerful gods in the galaxy, he could've ruled the Necrons for all eternity if kept the command protocols, he could've easily turned his back on everything but he didn't. The Emperor was motivated by a sense of superiority while the Silent King is legitimately wholly dedicated to his people and that is why he's the better sovereign.
@@Dogue83Agree. The Emperor is what typical Ego Maniac leader dreaming to become god really is. He is boastfull and Pridefull, have his head in the clouds and when the reallity checks in, The Chaos came and he gone apeshit. Claiming he is a sleep in throne doing nothing and just fighting Chaos in the warp is too much of cliche and Power Fantasy even after his sleep he still want people to never question and worship him, and he is very detach even i as a viewer see him as just a leader with just Thick plot armor. Silent King is what i call the most 'human' leader i've ever seen, he is just a leader that has been given a Fractured empire and endless war by his predecessor, and facing all this gigantic messed he become desperate and stressed to try to find everything to get his people out of the mess, in the end he make a deal with a Ctan and dommed his people. Even after becoming Necron, he is not a pushover weak leader, he learns from his mistake and try to repair it and even he manage to kill the Old One and Ctan is very huge feat. But he is not gonna rule his people through total obidience, seeing his people becoming mindless robot must have been very heartwrenching to him, and so he left and free his people from the slavery of protocols and peace out to contemplate. Emperor and Silent King is a leader but they are the opposite of the same coin. Emperor is what Egoistic Narchisist ruler is, always self centered and never learn from his mistake. Silent King learned from his mistake, and he is not pride about what he do to the galaxy, and try to makes ammends to the Galaxy and the people he trully loves.
The Twice Dead King novels also heavily imply that the necron warriors aren't 'blank'. They're automatons, but trapped inside the automaton there's still a sentient being, just without any autonomy over their actions.
“Shattering the C’tan isn’t something you can do by screaming ‘Ro ro fight the power!’ and punching them in the face.” Gork and Mork would like a word with you.
I remember hearing something about him: 1. Fighting the nids in the inter-galactic void for a time before he came back (something about the inconsistency of his ship being the size of anything between a Gloriana-Class and a Craftworld). 2. Awakening several Dynasties in some quadrant of the galaxy with the sole purpose of fighting off a specific tendril(s) of nids coming from there. Any credence to any of these?
Actually if I recall in more recent lore The Silent King has actually done some stuff namely setting up the Pariah Nexus. Basically the Silent King wants to reactivate Necron Pylons across the Milky Way in order to seal the Great Rift and create a disruption field that severs the Hive Minds link with the Tyranids, thus ending any cohesion or organized threat from the faction. However using the Pylons will slowly cause all soul bearing species to slowly wither and essentially become depressed soulless Blanks if not straight up die. So far the area of space that has the most activated Pylons and has become the Silent Kings domain is called the Pariah Nexus. Thanks to the threat posed by the Pylons and knowledge of the Silent Kings location, this has led the Imperium to deploy their forces, even sending in the Ultramarines. This has not gone well as the Necrons have beaten back numerous assaults and the Pylons cause many guardsmen and regular human citizens to slowly go mad and even attack their fellow Imperials. The Space Marines also learned a hard lesson to not mess with an honorable duel after one Marine challenged a Necron commander to one on one which the commander accepted with the Silent Kings approval no less. However during the duel the other marines present saw an opening and launched an attack on the other Necrons watching the duel. The Silent King became furious as he views duels as sacred and honorable so to have the Marines seemingly use a duel to sneak in a cheap shot was an unforgivable crime as far as he was concerned. He then proceeded to *annihilate* the Marines, leaving no survivors. So yeah Silent King seems to be active once more but for how long remains to be seen I suppose.
@@hastyhawkeye If you want there is a new cartoon out also called the Pariah Nexus that showcases the Imperium's efforts to halt the Necrons efforts (to little avail). It's really good but sadly locked to Warhammer+. You can easily find clips of it online though. It's worth a watch.
My personal headcannon (Which will only be displaced when the main swarm of the Tyranids arrive, so I'm good) is that when the Silent King saw the Tyranids, he saw that the scouts would eat all organic matter. The main force would eat the planets and stars. This is partially based on that one necron tomb world the bugs ate, and that one old lore bit that mentioned the galaxy that was behind the nids has gone dark now (although that was also tied into that old lore idea of the nids running from something). But yeah, the mime king scared of bugs would make more sense if the bugs ate everything, not just everyone.
Minor correction: the C'Tan which we call "The Deceiver" was not originally called that when he made his deal with Szarekh. He was originally called "The Messenger", due to him being the most charismatic envoy of the newly embodied C'Tan. The Necrons changed his name when they figured out they'd been duped.
Third edition Necron codex had the Necrontyr discover a C’tan feeding on their home star as they studied it to figure out why it was so unstable. Studying that C’tan lead them to finding more of them and figuring out how to communicate them. The Necrontyr then learned super physics from the C’tan and were able to provide them with Necrodermis shells so they could more easily interact. If GW didn’t retcon that bit of lore then it still makes sense as an origin.
Update for lore and gameplay for the silent king. Currently in lore the silent king and imotekh are having a civil war in the praiah nexus. Also he was the guy to hire szeras to make priah nexus. By supplying him a material to make it and building a new body. Now gameplay the slient king aura has been nerf to oncrese leadership instead of removing battleshock. Also the invub save does count for minirs and the army rule can revive the minirs(puting this in because that was a debate in r/necrontry for a week for the index).

Technically speaking Orikan was not the only one who didn't want the C'Tan. The infinite and The divine reveals more in the final chapters so I won't spoil but I'm gonna tell you this, The Deceiver worked overtime to get that all you can eat souls buffet

Idea about the whole Dante thing. Before he actually met Dante, he actually read up on a bunch of ON sanguinius. That’s why he respects him. As for how he got that knowledge; what’s to say he didn’t use scarabs, or any of the guys who can see the future.
Fun fact. The Deceiver first called himself „The Messenger” and was renamed Deceiver after the biotransference. Btw. There is a fan theory that I like which argues that the reason why Old Ones did not give Necrons immortality or at the very least cure for super cancer, is because Necrons were at the time still conquering the galaxy and were giant assholes even with super cancer, so Old Ones did not want to make galaxy conquest and genocide easier for Necrons who consider themselves rules of galaxy while dying before they hit 50, like Slaan/Lizardmen of Warhammer fantasy kill almost all human colonies on Lustria because if humans destory jungle, slaan can’t stop the EndTimes from happening.
I always thought of them being a snapshot, just the burnt shadow imprinted on the living metal shell as their souls were burnt out and sucked up by the ctan
That's doesn't make any sense though, souls are made of warp stuff which cpnsta tly stated to be the Ctans one weakness. Why would they eat the one thing poisonous to them?
Meaning he has consistent writing and the benefit of not being partially written by someone who vehemently hates him as a character. If only the Emperor got the same treatment.
My biggest problem with necron lore right now is that where just waiting for the pay off Like where's the climax of the pharia nexus It's taking as long as a necron court case. Hopefully this is gonna get fixed
I’d like to contest the idea that the chaos gods never existed. I don’t believe it’s not that they didn’t exist, It’s probably more likely that the l they didn’t have enough influence in the warp yet to have forms, and become actual threats. Just like with Slaanesh, they have always technically existed in this universe, but until the eldar continuously fed them until their they materialize (their birth), they had no ability to meaningfully influence anything.
Interesting. My own view on that topic has been that essentially, until they were overly fed with dread intentions, the chaos 'gods' were essentially animals. They had no intelligence or agency to speak of, seeking nothing more than evenly sucking up their makeup over time. (So proto-Khorne sucked up the emotions that make up Khorne as we know it, including the good parts. Etc.) Then the mass infusion of horrible, horrible emotions started unbalancing these entities during the War In Heaven. Now, normally the Old Ones would have done some work to fix this, specifically to prevent these nexuses from forming intelligence and contesting their mastery of the Immaterium. But with them all dead, that maintenance never happened. Because the 'reality tumors' had an unbalanced diet, when they woke up, they pushed consciously towards what they were comfortable with feeding on in the material universe. Worse, when the Eldar decided in their demented revels 'lets make a goddess of pleasure, that can't possibly backfire!' this not only added another to the chaos 'gods' ranks, but meant the only surviving deliberately constructed great warp beings (the Eldar Pantheon) were basically wiped out. Said beings might well have been why the galaxy was so calm relative to warp storms up until the Fall, since the Eldar Pantheon had a vested interest in the galaxy not being a total mess. (after all, their people lived there.) Vashtorr existing can then be attributed to (ironically) the accumulation of galactic trauma from the Men of Iron war, tapping into the PTSD from the Necrons/C'Tan themselves. All those people fearing technology having evil locked inside of it or outright being evil, piled up and with nothing to keep it from waking up and seeking to perpetuate itself. The one other possibility I give some thought to is that the 3 original Chaos 'gods' were the models/prototypes of the Eldar Pantheon the Old Ones originally constructed for the War in Heaven, which they never got around to cleaning up and eventually woke up to cause havoc in their particular flavors. Slannesh is entirely the Eldars fault for thinking they could do exactly what the Old Ones did, but for a frivolous reason and with the arrogant overconfidence of pre-fall Eldar that this couldn't go wrong. Bad as they are, all three of the OG chaos 'gods' have clear applicability in warfare vs the Necron/C'Tan.
11:30 is actually incorrect according to recent lore. It's been revealed the Silent King has expanded the Necron Empire into other galaxies and so wasn't just farting around in deep space the entire time.
@@Xalerdane I don't believe it's ever stated how many Necrons or ships he brought with him. We know Necrons at their prime had autistic levels of power and technology, so it isn't hard to imagine that even if it was a small fleet that the Silent King could have colonized primitive planets or subjugated lesser species. It's worth keeping in mind that the races outside of the Galaxy they encountered are unlikely to have been engineered or touched in some way by the old ones like the primary factions in 40k. I don't believe it's stated the extent of the expansion, only that it has occurred and that there are gifts awaiting the Necron people once/if the Tyranids can be haltered.
The way a living being with a soul works in 40k is kinda like a person is just a bag full of warp stuff, and that conglomerate is their soul. The c'tan slorped up the warp goo inside them leaving shells behind.
So the shells of the souls are their consciousnesses or selves, but they are hollow now and without any ability to control their own actions beyond their "instincts" (or rather programming)? Like the Hollows in Dark Souls?
@@Jupiter__001_ Being without a soul in 40k is usually described as being rather cold and emotionless. Sure, you can still feel something, but it's really weak if compared to a being full of soul (like humans, or even above, the Eldar).
I thought that the silent king also established the pariah nexus. Which is an area in the galaxy that exudes a blanks aura, slowly tiring out a persons mind until the eventually keel over as their soul slowly drains and dissapates. The silent king wanted to expand his nexus to span across the galaxy
The Deceiver’s original name was “The Messenger” because he was the first of the C’tan to figure out how to communicate with the necrontyr after being put into the living metal bodies. Name got changed after biotransference for obvious reasons
450th, unfortunately no amount of -virgin- warhammer fan sacrifices will stop GW from probably just making the Silent King another of the Blueberries’ punching bag
Yeah, I don't think Imotekh is fixing on getting into the ring with him. He knows he'll get lolstomped. Beating him in a civil war where he doesn't need to get near him, nor his overpowered guards, is a lot more preferable.
Paraiah Nexus is also the Silent King's doing right? He is trying to cut all the Warp from real space which may kill anything with a soul in the galaxy and may clash with Guilliman soon.
On the matter of soul: You are not misreading things, it is very interesting a topic and you should dig further. Blanks are a good example, start there.
I will never forget one of my friends being overjoyed at the announcement of the Silent King returning. Couldn't shut up about it, kept telling everyone that it was the Necron's turn to kick ass. Release day comes around and, after months of teasing and comms about it, the total amount of lore and models put out for the necrons are outshined by "regular monthly space marines new models and stuff". Like, not even close. He quit the hobby on the spot.
Ya know what Necron thing does not get enough credit in 40k? The C'tan. They are basically reduced to Pokémon rather than barely chained pissed of Star Gods that are hard set to counter Necrons. Think about it, the warp is the best weapon against them and the Necrons don't have that. Likewise what they do have, vault and tech to contain them, half of which might have been designed by them such as Dolmen Gates and if not that then at least know to them. In The Infinite and the Divine and Sons of the Hydra we see just how dangerous a single errant shard can be. With how fractured the Necrons are any more jail breaks are a real risk. Also technically the Outsider still exist somewhere in the galaxy as a whole C'tan, in that same vein the Void Dragon on Mars is also a singular threat.
For what it is worth, GW does seem to finally remember that Silent King is a thing; I think, recently, there was a bit about SK being fed up with all warp bs and deciding to spread Pariah Nexus to entire galaxy, even going so far as to ally with the crazy doctor (Szerek, was it?) He also seems to be heading for a war with Imotekh, since he hates SK (for a good reason, I would say)
4:23 there are some theories that the silent king might have intentionally ordered the negotiations botched to trigger the war to bring unity to the necron race. less "pls help us gentle space frog." more " fuck you! make me immortal bitch!"
Both Necron and Eldar factions re the most interesting and ctiminaly underused..to the point where it makes me ngr... like what re they doing ppl havent stop asking for more and what they do? give eldar an unwinable story that was cut short and cut the necron peraih nexus story mid way and give tyranids to ppl who never asked for it..
They won already, it's just that winning isn't that fun (they lost their souls to win), and they are just a bit "rusty" when it comes to using their full force
It always comes back to a group of nerds in a room just making up names and words and titles so that years later, someone says, "Well, since he's named the Ultimate Destroyer of Reality,....ugh. What the fuck were we thinking?"
I mean, he did create the Pariah Nexus which could permanently defeat Chaos and also kill basically everything in the galaxy with a soul, so…there’s that. I mean, GW hasn’t actually done anything with that lore, but it is there.
About that Flayer C'Tan keep in mind as far as C'Tan go he was a fairly weak one and the flayer virus was his dieing breath so doing it on a more powerful C'Tan such as the void dragon could cause mass destruction.
Dunno if this has been mentioned, but the Pariah Nexus/Nephilum Sector war is a major plot point in 40k right now and its entirely because The Silent King is trying to create anti-warp bubbles to protect the galaxy from Chaos, but also it created "The Stilling" which is affecting most other races within the bubble. And its caught the attention of the Robot Girlyman himself. So yeah, hes been doing stuff. Also, necron civil war since Imotekh hates him and wants to be in charge.
I know this is potentially heresy for saying this, but I would like to see Trazyn negotiate an alliance between the the Necrons and Roboute's Imperium. Nothing permanent, just an agreement to not fight each other until the Tyranids and Chaos are cleansed from the galaxy. Also, is it possible that The Silent King returned to the galaxy during the Great Crusade, met Sanguinius, but then left the galaxy for another 10k years? I ask because its entirely possible that TSK could have been returning back to the galaxy at regular intervals to stay up to date on the state of the Galaxy.
Boy, imagine how bad that would be if he checks in every 10k years. So he checks in, meets Sanguinious and hears of the Great Crusade. Likely he figures "Aww, look at the little ones growing up a bit." then next check in, 40k.

This is a work in progress! but feel free to take, edit and use in your final draft if you wish, just a small mention/credit of what I may have contributed will be fine with me :)
SWPM option 1, Arbiter: The front half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Arbiter teleports into the Star Wars galaxy at speed, passes the CIS blockade, who are left wondering WTF was that, but of course turn their attention to another approaching ship ( Qui Gon Jinn / Obi Wan kenobi journey stays the same for now ... ) Arbiter crashes into the ocean or large lake on the planet of Naboo, after salvaging what he can and escaping the sinking wreck Arbiter sets off in search of civilization ... only at first to find Jar Jar Binks !?! ( JJ will likely call Arbiter " Arby " for short throughout the story )
SWPM option 2, Chief / Cortana: The back half of the Forward unto Dawn carrying Chief / Cortana teleports into from their perspective a unknown region of space! Cortana of course will start running scans of the area and drop a beacon for potential rescue (for about 4 years, 7 months, 10 days she won't be suffering from rampancy yet) ... oh would you look at that its the ship that Qui Gon Jinn/ Obi Wan kenobi are traveling on, after some basic introductions / explanations the JEDI will ask if MC/C would like to accompany them to the planet of Naboo or wait for another ship to give them a tow
1a) if they stay some time later the JEDI will send a message saying the CIS have just attempted to kill them, rather than being sitting ducks, Cortana uses what control they have over the F.U.D to steer it to Naboo for a controlled crash landing then using a escape pod.
1b) if they leave with the JEDI, the F.U.D will be left behind for now, will it stay adrift in space, get caught in Naboo's gravitational pull and crash there!) When arriving at the CIS blockade MC/C will have another two choices
2a) Stay in ship until what should be " short negotiations " are over! ... outcome: ship gets blown up with MC/C just about escaping the blast or rises from the wreckage like a Demon to the bewilderment of the battle droids
2b) Join the JEDI in the meeting to introduce themselves to this new galaxy or pretend to be acting security! ... outcome: oh boy, if the CIS were spooked about JEDI showing up in the original story, what are going to think Chief is ...

Given that even the rich Necrontyr barely lived to their 40s, not hard to believe the war lasted past the King that declared it.

Jeezalloooooo….talk about a mosh pit

Nice to have a character who, just for once, is the catalyst for everything going wrong but goes "My b guys ill try and fix"

Truly grimdark indeed
This would conflict with the caricature of human blanks in the setting. I think it more likely that, like blanks, they just have a different kind of soul (or in their case, a small fragment thereof). Their inability to feel emotions, then, is the condition of being made from metal, and therefore not having the necessary biological hardware for emotions.

All the xenos races are underutilized. They are too passive in their writing. GW put themselves into the dumbest corner possible with only one storyline. The Imperium vs everyone else.
I hate when they put big stuff in a white dwarf of all things.
Necrons are pretty popular now thanks to 9th edition, actually. They're in the top 5 played factions iirc

The Twice-Dead King is among my favorite novels of all 40k. So good.
@@berilsevvalbekret772
Yes and no. they both also think eachother helped the C'tan during the process, like it was said, the C'tan messed with all of their memories so it would be harder to revolt against them
10:45 I think Pancreas forgot that C’Tan are essential to the galaxy and when a shard is destroyed, reality unveils.
Ah yes the Necrons, where 90% of the time they lose in the modern setting is down to space marine plot armor.
Its that or the hubris

@hidetakamiyazaki1825exited laniakea and discovered dozens of new factions 🤷♂️
Apparently, fighting other civilizations outside of our galaxy, ALONE, with his ship as help
If we can take what was said in the 10th eddition codex seriously, then he is powerful enough to destroy... i dunno... the Tau purely by himself and his ship.
“Shattering the C’tan isn’t something you can do by screaming ‘Ro ro fight the power!’ and punching them in the face.”

The Silent King is Silent because speaking means he would actually be doing something
I remember hearing something about him:
I need an episode that focuses on one specific rat with a particular rivalry with a certain dwarf and man
Long form too
YES-INDEED!
Is there a book that covers the dual?
@@hastyhawkeye Not that I know of, seems to be mentioned in the newer codex's

@@hastyhawkeye If you want there is a new cartoon out also called the Pariah Nexus that showcases the Imperium's efforts to halt the Necrons efforts (to little avail). It's really good but sadly locked to Warhammer+. You can easily find clips of it online though. It's worth a watch.
In one of Majorkills recent videos, he mentions that the war in heaven got retconned, saying that it was started due to chaos…
I find the ignoring modifier aura to be life saving against the death guard, personally

It's taking as long as a necron court case. Hopefully this is gonna get fixed
In short: skeleton king left the galaxy in shame and came back waving his arms and screaming “BUGS! BUUUUUGS!”
(after all, their people lived there.)
Vashtorr existing can then be attributed to (ironically) the accumulation of galactic trauma from the Men of Iron war, tapping into the PTSD from the Necrons/C'Tan themselves.
War Thunder, a game so good multiple soldiers are facing court martial for releasing top secret design information
11:30 is actually incorrect according to recent lore. It's been revealed the Silent King has expanded the Necron Empire into other galaxies and so wasn't just farting around in deep space the entire time.
OK, _how?_

@@Jupiter__001_
Being without a soul in 40k is usually described as being rather cold and emotionless.

Oh nice, new video, the funny elf man is back with new lore.

You are not misreading things, it is very interesting a topic and you should dig further.
13:29 Pretty sure officially he’s just the galaxy’s greatest gaslighter.
Amazing video as always. Such is the power of Nagash...
With what little I know about Warhammer I can actually see the setting ending with the Necrons winning
For a given degree of ‘winning’.
They won already, it's just that winning isn't that fun (they lost their souls to win), and they are just a bit "rusty" when it comes to using their full force
Also, the Necrontyr had a few planets left before they went full robo, as twice dead king showed us
The Silent King is so criminally underused, the man needs some books and is not worth the points cost which is a damn shame because I love that model.
15:47 GURREN LAGANN MENTIONED! INSTANT PEAK VID!
Arguably not his fault, but he definitely feels bad about it, and he's doing his best to fix his fuckups
"can we be immortal?"
"No"
"Well can we atleast not die of turbo space cancer?"
"......also no"
"Well screw it, we'll do it ourselves"
Nah, nah, nah.
The FIRST King, who ruined the galaxy.
It's like GW needed to give someone a drinking buddy when writing new necron lore😅
The Silent King made the Pariah nexus since coming back and has had some scenes where he absolutely fucks on some Imperials who try to be dishonorable
To be really fair the old ones denied them the cancer cure because the Necron were genociding all other life they came into contact with lol
Let's go iv been waiting for this one!❤
Likely he figures "Aww, look at the little ones growing up a bit." then next check in, 40k.
actually he has more lore, hes trying to tell it to the dudes on his throne but they went techno deaf a thousand years ago
