    While I know the A.I. discussion has been resolved, I wanted to put my 2 cents in. I agree with the community. I am a Data Scientist, I build AI solutions. These tools need to be wielded with caution for a variety of reasons. I got into gardening and other non-technology related hobbies to get away from my life as a professional in a technology field. A robot will never know the feeling of growing amazing produce and the joy of consuming that produce. When it comes to gardening, I will always trust a fellow tribe member on the discord with their experience over something from generative AI. Everything has its place. I have been a part of hundreds of online communities, the Viking discord is truly unique and should be guarded. Thank you for cultivating a community that is so amazing!

    23:51 West of Viking, same zone, mosquitos are crazy this year.
    I use A LOT of mosquito dunks and sprinkles because I have livestock tanks and collect rainwater.
    I wear a bug net hoodie and take vitamin B1 (both water and fat soluble) because I'm a FAVORITE snack. It helps me quite a bit!
    I try to get out of the garden by evening and stay away from my tomatoes. If course that's my favorite time, but I can't tolerate the bugs. I'm a big baby and bites drive me insane.
    Hope this helps someone.
    Be mindful of west nile and zika symptoms!! Fever, headache, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. Most people are asymptomatic and your body fights it off just like anything else. But 20% of people develop fever etc and it can result in debilitating neurological effects and death. So please be careful.

      thank you my friend we'll be having much more available come January... its not something you'd want to amend in the fall with as most the NPK would be used up by the spring time although yes the plethora of minerals would still be going strong... its best to wait just a week or two before planting or even the day of planting

    Put left over salt with rust in the jadam microorganisms barrel on a hot day. The grow so fast that I could use them 12 hours later.
    Started a new one with one hand full natural rusty sand in it.

    Have a lot of rain water in several containers. I don't want the containers to split with freezing water. If JMS was made and put into the containers and applied to the garden soil before freezing temps, would the biology of the JMS come alive in the spring when soil temps rise? thanks

    • @gardenlikeaviking
      @gardenlikeaviking  Месяц назад +1

      I'm not certain about that as it might really weaken the acidity to be super heated and steamed like that and also perhaps its getting neutralized a bit by whatever is in the coffee machine... you could try it... but I'd just use fresh if it were me

    • @gardenlikeaviking
      @gardenlikeaviking  Месяц назад +1

      in my experience the only difference is growth pattern... African marigolds get 3-4 feet tall and 2-4 feet wide... French marigolds are much smaller and more compact for fitting into tighter places... no difference in pest repellence

    Thanks again Nate, this year I've been using compost teas every week and I've noticed a massive difference in plant growth and health, the Jadam was good but it definitely wasn't perfect, instead of using compost from my bin here I use 2 different types of leaf mold from pine forests and other different trees, from looking at my compost tea with the 2 different leaf moulds with my own worm poop with a microscope compared to my compost bin biology it's way more effective with the forest leaf mould.
    On starting beetroot and carrots etc I use 4 bits of wood around the area in my beds that totally encloses the bed with a caravan window set on top to stop the slugs getting in and also help keep things warm in there with a good humidity, it works perfectly, way better than I expected, once they're well up just remove the wood around it, adapt and overcome in the PSG, there's no problems only solutions lol.

    AI does not feel right, rather generic in answers that you must shift through. A plethora of information to find what you really need. Not succinct at all.
