A real defrost of cold Norwegians these first days of summer. Sun, 20+ celsius, happy people, all styles of music and a crazy drummer-boy...
On my walk from one stage to another, I experienced this promising young drummer, playing in the main shopping-street of Oslo - "Karl Johan". Despite of many musical gem's around in Oslo this day, this off-stage event might
be the coolest showoff of the music fest! Later I have learned that his name is Baard Kolstad age 17. He performed in the competition Norske Talenter 2009. Search youtube and you'll find a buch of videos of him both in studio and while street drumming in Oslo (Thx @ cbrpal).

I'm heading to Norway to find this guy on a street corner just so I can tip him! Amazing! Love all his videos... And his samba grooves kill it!
He's in Leprous now - Once you find a show near you go for it! Such a musically treat! They're on top of their game in the prog metal scene. Soft vocals and insane complex musicianship.
This guy is next lvl drummer. NEXT LVL. The lvl 99% of us will never ever reach.

This was a work of art. Every piece was planned. He takes his listeners on a journey (much like a song does). While I do agree that he would play incredibly well to other music too, I beg you to give this one more listen. As a drummer, I implore you to listen once more and look at it as a song in itself. :)
Later that year, Karl Johan legally changed his name to Baard Kolstad and started taking banjo lessons. He's now the lead banjo in the country band Leprous. They mostly play Billy Ray Cyrus covers.

He's so good!
This kid is really good, and I wouldn't say he has any problems with "technicality" like a lot of people are saying in the comments, I just think he's trying to play a little outside of his comfort zone in terms of tempo. It can be good or bad. It's good if you're practicing by yourself, not so good if you're playing by yourself in front of a crowd!
