I was also curious about this. I'm assuming you install steam and login into your account on the second (server computer) but if the server is running DayZ server and treats it as a "Game" will you get that "already running a game using this account" error when trying to run the regularl game on your primary computer
In your video where you say you would put it in the description where did you put it and this is a serious question i cant find it and i don't no how to do the floating dot at the beginning
would love to see a follow up video to this covering admin panels/server management. and adding/updating mods. i was able to get it working through sheer force but it was a pain to pack and repack, and add custom mods ive made.
hey mate . ive followed your instructions exactly , but . no server showing up . the only thing ive done differently was install the server not on C but on D the games drive . will the parameters change in the server launch line since its on another drive ? thanks for any help .
Hey man, great vid, I've followed your tutorial and the modding tutorial, running the server works fine. I either connect via direct connect or the LAN option, it works perfectly, mods and all. I've checked using an open port checker tool - multiple, and the correct ports are open and working. Whenever my friends try to direct connect, they input my local computers IP address and nothing happens, they just get sent back to the servers list, no difference, nothing. Help would be appreciated, I've tried for a while to get this to work. Cheers 👍
When I port forward and direct connect it works but my brother ( in another location ) tries to direct connect nothing shows up he types in the ip and then presses connect it then disappears and does nothing PLEASEEEEE HELLPPPP

did every step with you even with a start.bat and BEC headache, all that to stick with the same LAN server. wasted 2 days trying every possible walkthrough to make a server yet nothing worked. I give up.
Just setup a LAN server and then use Radmin VPN, but only if you're going to be playing with friends and no strangers. The process is extremely simple and easy.
My game files and the server are installed on my D drive not my C drive but when I got launch the server it looks for the files in C drive and I can't figure out why it isn't looking for them in the drive it's installed in.
Oh lol. I figured it out. It was bad coding on my part. I didn't realize I put cgf instead of cfg. I swear I spent a while reading over it several times before I realized the typo.
Unfortunately, though this was a very nice video and straightforward with the explanations, sadly it didn't work. The server works fine and I can access it whenever I have it active, but the port forwarding didn't do anything. I have done exactly the same. Created the necessary forwarded ports in the router hub, created the rules in the firewall settings, but my friends still can't see the server in the list when they search for it. I have a public IP and can see the server on MY side, both in the LAN and Community tabs (one has my local IP the other has my external IP), but it won't show up to anyone else.
I finally made it work. What I did was to leave the "External Port" field empty, I don't know why he says to put the same ports there. Now it shows up to others. ^^

yeah mine didnt work. When im trying to foward the port i see some options in plus like: service port, common service port wich idk what they are. and i get a weird error wich says: The IP address is not from the same subnet as the LAN IP address. any help please?
Dunno where is the problem but cant get mods to apear in DayZ launcher. I tried already with start.bat method and this method in steam but it doesnt work. In case u wondering i copied mod to my server folder, copied key to keys and added line -mod=@mod name *after each mod i added ;* Only mod and 1st mod i added and was successfully loaded and showed up in launcher was CF. Expansion mods dont wanna show up what so ever and i have strange problem with Dabs framework mod. I add it to my server, start server and in launcher it is kinda showing but it isnt recognized even when i am already subscribed to that mod. For anyone wondering I am not even new to server hosting. I hosted servers for 2 years. Back then i used start.bat method and i had next to no problems. Rn i wanted to come back but this is making me lose my mind. feels like this tutorial has been the best one i've tried. But unlike on previous attempts (that failed to display the server) steam now complains when i try to play dayz on my second machine, saying if i start it, dayz server will be closed. am i really going to need a 2nd steam account to do this? i thought we just needed it to be run on a different machine. EDIT: I resolved this particular issue by moving the dayz Server folder out of the steamapps/common folder and into the root of my C: drive. I am now having the trouble of it not showing in the community server list. ive done the port forwarding on the router and both machines have had the firewall rules added inbound and outbound. i tried direct connect using IP address but the dialogue box to enter the Ip just disappears and nothing happens afterwards.

I see a lot of comments where their friends can't find their server or connect etc. I had the same issue with other servers and the problem was simply that I did not have a public IP. So I had to contact my ISP and request a public IP which they solved in a couple of days. So if you have done everything correctly but your friends still cant access your server this could be the issue.
@@datpimpjoe Well yes and no. I had a shared public IP because my ISP routed my traffic through their NAT. The public ip on my router did not match the ip on the website. So nobody could reach my server. It seems it is common for ISPs to do this now. I just had to email mine and ask for a static public IP, but some ISPs will charge you extra for this.

I can connect on official/modded servers but when I try on my dedicated server the loading always stops at 50% more or less and DayZ freezes. Anyone got an idea why?

You can run the server AND play on your server, on the same PC. I do this on my pretty average gaming PC. My CPU cruises at 50% or under. I port forward and my brother joins me, I am in Australia and he is in the UK. The server while running only uses CPU, its not running graphics and therefore it cam easily manage it.

@minnesotarascal7453 the config files comes as one of the files in the package. You shouldn’t rename it. If you’re talking about the batch file, then it doesn’t matter what you named it

A lot of incorrect information here. A router's Lan port will NEVER end in a 0. Also, going to a website to see your IP address will not show your computers IP address. That is the IP of your routers WAN port. You need the ipconfig or ifconfig command to get information for your computers default gateway and computer IP address.

I made a follow up video for adding some specific mods but you can use the same method for adding any mod

how would u do that the server is nor ptivate. So its public in community for example ?
Set password in serverCFG. file under the server name, stops unwanted public players.

Every network has a public IP friend. That is the IP you get from visiting the website in the video.

You don’t need to buy dayz to run the server files. Getting it from steam is just the easiest way to get started with getting those files

How do you get it to work straight out of the box? It didn't work for me at all. I had to add batch files and all kinds of nonsense. Took me days.
The application works out of the box. The batch file is for launching the server with custom settings like mods and other stuff

everything seemed to work, my friend can see the server listed and see mods and pop and ping etc but is unable to join

Yes there are many hosting providers for dayz. One of the most popular ones is called Nitrado. You can put mods. The progress does get saved.
