Thank you for being a stop on my 2000 full season watch through. Very exciting to see my all time favorite driver Bobby Labonte in his full prime. Thanks again. I’m 25 so when I was 5 and watching the green car do circles i was a fan because the color, it caught my eye but didn’t really get it. it took me until about 7-8 to really understand racing and now it’s so satisfying to see his hall of fame induction and now to rewatch this season of consistent clean dominance.
I had a VHS version of this race from Goodwill and it was the only used tape race I ever saw. I was not interested in NASCAR until Feb 2001 after the big car crash and Dale E Sr. Death. It took that disaster for me to have an interest in NASCAR since than.
We actually started the season with 10 winners in the first 10 races, and in the first 13 races we had 12, and only 14 all season: 1.) Daytona: Dale Jarrett 2.) Rockingham: Bobby Labonte 3.) Las Vegas: Jeff Burton 4.) Atlanta: Dale Earnhardt Sr. 5.) Darlington: Ward Burton 6.) Bristol: Rusty Wallace 7.) Texas: Dale Earnhardt Jr. 8.) Martinsville: Mark Martin 9.) Talladega: Jeff Gordon 10.) California: Jeremy Mayfield 11.) Richmond: Dale Earnhardt Jr. broke the streak with his 2nd win of 2000. 12.) Charlotte: Matt Kenseth 13.) Dover: Tony Stewart 14.) Michigan: Tony Stewart 15.) Pocono: Jeremy Mayfield 16.) Sonoma: Jeff Gordon 17.) Daytona: Jeff Burton 18.) New Hampshire: Tony Stewart 19.) Pocono: Rusty Wallace 20.) Indianapolis: Bobby Labonte 21.) Watkins Glen: Steve Park 22.) Michigan: Rusty Wallace 23.) Bristol: Rusty Wallace 24.) Darlington: Bobby Labonte 25.) Richmond: Jeff Gordon 26.) New Hampshire: Jeff Burton 27.) Dover: Tony Stewart 28.) Charlotte: Bobby Labonte 29.) Talladega: Dale Earnhardt Sr. 30.) Martinsville: Tony Stewart 31.) Phoenix: Jeff Burton 32.) Rockingham: Dale Jarrett 33.) Homestead: Tony Stewart 34.) Atlanta: Jerry Nadeau
All I did was list the point races: The winners of the exhibition events: Bud Shootout Qualifier at Daytona: Dale Jarrett Bud Shootout at Daytona: Dale Jarrett Gatorade 125 #1: Bill Elliott Gatorade 125 #2: Ricky Rudd The Winston Open at Charlotte: Steve Park The Winston at Charlotte: Dale Earnhardt Jr. This was to show that the first 10 point races were won by 10 different drivers.
The thing I remember seeing as a kid was Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. racemates, so I know I was a viewer the year of this race. Since it was on ABC, I may have seen this very one.
Flipped this off as soon as Gordon won so I never saw Weber's interview with Bobby . Bobby looked like he was about to go Bobby with a lawnmower that won't start on Weber there for a second. I was rooting for Kenny Irwin as the laps wound down. Was a big fan of his in spite of Martinsville '99 (bought one of his cars the day before he died) and his run was the only good thing out of this day given the top-3, Tony and Bobby getting wrapped in the wreck, and DJ's problems
I think he was only pertaining to the wicker blade on the roof. After the BIG ONE with about 25 laps to go in the 2001 Daytona 500 he told Richard Childress under the red, "If NASCAR don't do away something with this package, someone is going to get killed." On the last lap, what Earnhardt said happened to him :( RIP #3.
Insane to think that not winning by the season's 9th race is considered struggling. Only with Gordon and Johnson do people expect victories by 4th or 5th race, if not their having awful seasons, in the media's opinion.
Not to mention the fact that the new Ford Taurus for 2000 was ludicrously fast and literally kicked Chevrolet and Pontiac's hides, especially Chevrolet's. They won 14 of the 34 races (4 by Wallace, 4 by Jeff Burton, 2 by Mayfield, 2 by Jarrett, and one apiece from Martin and Kenseth), while Chevrolet won only 9 (3 by Earnhardt Sr, 3 by Jeff Gordon, 2 by Earnhardt Jr, and the other by Nadeau), and Pontiac won 11 (six of those were by Stewart, four by Bobby Labonte, and the other by Ward Burton).
@@jeffgordonfan2462 That's because in 2000 Chevrolet came out with a new Monte Carlo nose, and in 2018 they came out with the Camaro. Both times the aerodynamics of those noses caused so much drag and underperformance. Going into 2001 and this year before the pandemic, the Chevrolets have been making progress.
ABC was cool at broadcasting races; helped by it's Saturday morning, TGIF and Disney-powered Sunday night SUPREMACY!!!!! I just wish I was around to see it, given when in 2000 I was born...
What year did they start doing the animation of the drivers when they do the starting grid? Those were entertaining. Dick Trickle..... God bless him, RIP...... but ahem, one of the most interesting names in all sports......no Greg Sacks here........
Name The Drivers That Racing The #71 For Dave Marcus In 2000 And How Did It Started? And There Is a 4th Generation Earnhardt In Nascar From Today's World Named Jeffery...What Does This Mean For Nascar And Jeffery's Career?
I Loved the way those old cars looked
Dan Betancourt i loved the way they sound back then .
and sounded!!!
Man, I fucking miss Benny Parsons....

Gordon and Earnhardt sr always drafted great together
41:46 those ABC Sports bumps are amazing
I loved Mark Martin’s Eagle1 paint scheme.
LOL at 2:29:51 "PUT EM IN THE WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!"

you might wanna check your list again there.
Jr only won @ Texas and Charlotte.
Not Texas and Richmond.
He sure did win at Richmond.
+Dave W my apologies.
foot inserting to mouth in progress...lmfao
Charlotte is partly correct. it was the Winston
All I did was list the point races: The winners of the exhibition events:

Thanks for all these uploads! It's the only NASCAR that I bother watching anymore, the classics!

I was at this race!!
jdd7998 same here had a blast!!
this is real racing the best.
RIP John Hendrick and Randy Dorton
big one is at 1:49:00 watch the first few seconds and then it starts
Flipped this off as soon as Gordon won so I never saw Weber's interview with Bobby . Bobby looked like he was about to go Bobby with a lawnmower that won't start on Weber there for a second.

The race in full! At last! Huzzah! Thank you greatly!
Thanks. I've been dying to see the full race!
Cool race to watch thanks for this
The race isn't ruined. The winner will never change whether you know or not. Don't read the description.
You're very welcome. Nobody makes you watch.
I love Jeff Gordon
I like so much !! Thanks for upload this, man !!
Irwin did so well....RIP
His best Cup finish was 3rd in the 1999 Daytona 500.
I wish that he won this race.
Naz Idoura If only he wasn’t killed at New Hampshire.
irwin jr is good unfortunately inconsistent lack of experience and bad luck is always there
weird to see earnhardt say this isnt racing considering he was so successful at superspeedways
He was always a hypocrite when things weren't going his way.
Whoopity Doo not true full throttle wreak fest like super speedways are aren’t racing.
I think he was only pertaining to the wicker blade on the roof. Scott Pruett caused the Big One, kept right on going, and got his lap back. That's impressive.
Mark Martin led a lot of laps in this race, a bummer he didn't win. I like how these cars sounded back then.
Was this one where Benny utters, "he ran in the back of his dad?" about Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Yep
So much action in this race. What’s odd is that a lot of drivers ran out of gas around the same time. Caused for chaos lol
Rusty just blew way too many motors in his career to win many titles. A shame really.
1:35:14 crewman down!
Dude threw the tire on him? Lol
Back when racing a stock car was risky . It made for hair raising entertainment
Yeah back when they were normal sized and still somewhat looked like their factory counterpart.
Dale Sr barely got by the big one

Matthew Kowal Sounds like this year with Ford kicking ass

1:56:24 BRUH 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Dude I was going to comment on that 😂
From the way the drivers where talking at preseason thunder, The racing may go back to this with the new car.
Jeff is awesome
1:56:22 - 1:56:29
Ha! GAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!
Hahahaha!!
Getting banged

+Robert Anderson 2001 Daytona 500 was the first time.
I was numb til Monday morning at work that Skinner didn’t win that race so dam close
Dale Earnhardt Sr was not rude and disdainful to his fans!

Intro song?
Dude with the white power sign at 12:41! 😳
@michaelfreeland8096 😂😂😂
Closest Mike Skinner has been to a victory. Too bad he never got his Win......
13:08 the start of the "Junior Cautions".
Did you ever think maybe people watch for what happens between the green and checkered flags?
🤔
Back then, yes, because the cars were racy
1:59:36 Typical.
Kenny schrader humor
3 words heard most often in NASCAR - "Michael Waltrip involved "
Scott Pruett caused the big one in this race. Why the hell would he pull down on the #13 like that? Really stupid of him...
Yet he finished 10th in the Brickyard 400 that year, and had his best Cup finish at Watkins Glen (surprise) in 2003 with a 2nd.
