Funny that the background music to the intro is actually the Disney tease music now...

A great win for Bobby Labonte, but it was so ironic that he won the biggest race of his career on the day his brother Terry's consecutive race streak ended.

@wfrncsu012 OK, he was running the Snoopy/Peanuts car that day in honor of Charles Schultz passing away that year. Tony Stewart would run two additional cars in 2002 with Linus and the Great Pumpkin.

Jerry Nadeau really flashed his potential in this race, like several other times that year. It’s a shame how his career ended.

Thumbs up if you love the sound of Penske's engines! Now they ALL sound the same, I think.
This was the last Winston Cup race on ABC Sports. ABC Sports, along with SpeedWorld, were done away with in late 2006. Now it's just ESPN on ABC.

Last 114 were green flag but there was still some close racing for the lead lap in and lap out. I would like to see more races like that.

@vidEvWill Gordon started 29th and was moving up until he hit Rick Mast in that first caution. He destroyed his right front fender and the car never handled good for the rest of the race unfortunately

DW's team made a mistake by going with 2 tires instead of 4. He dropped back to 34th place. At Indy you pass cars one at a time. I quote Ken Schraeder. When he passed me he was flying. Worked his way back to 11th place. DW proved once again, with a good car he could still win.

WOW look at ol' DW up on the front row! Amazing how much of a downhill slide his career was after he started having his own team. I think honestly he proved he could still drive at the end of his career but because he was "old" by NASCAR standards (53 as said in this video) he had a hard time finding a decent ride. He damn near won when he drove the Pennzoil car in 1998 at Pocono and had other solid finishes with that car. Almost wish he could have had a decent ride, just to c where he would be

It's just amazing to me how shitty this sport has gotten in the past 6 years. It's unwatchable. All the rule, and point changes have it the first 26 races mean nothing at all, so why bother watching it? I hate it. The whole point of NASCAR was to be consistent and get a solid finish every week. Winning is important, but winning a race should not guarantee you a shot at a championship. So stupid!
Maybe it's me, but I liked so many drivers back then. Tony Stewart was my guy, but I liked Earnhardt, Earnhardt Jr, Ricky Rudd, Bobby Labonte, Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, Johnny Benson, Steve Park, Terry Labonte, Elliot Sadler, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth. I always rooted for Tony first, but if he couldn't win, I didn't mind seeing any of those other guys in the front.
Today (not that I watch it much anymore), Matt Kenseth is my guy(I just stayed with the #20 car since 1999), and I still like Tony. I also like Joey Logano, and that's about it. There are no likable guys anymore. When I started watching NASCAR in 1999, I HATED Jeff Gordon with a passion. Now, I'd root for Gordon over about 35 other drivers in the field.
This sport was GREAT from 1999-2003, and ok from 2004-2008, but it gone way done hill since then. Part of it is Fox's coverage. I hate those 3 idiots in the booth and that stupid "Hollywood Hotel" (do they still do that?).
I miss guys like Benny Parsons, and Buddy Baker doing commentary.

I don't know, why don't you answer your own question? For someone that's asking why anyone should watch it, you sure know everything about it. Typical fan. Everything sucks, but you still watch it just to bitch and moan about it. It's your oxygen.

+GialloHorror my favorite years were 94, when i was a kid, to 2003. the winston cup years.
Ken Squire calln a few Daytona 500 races. Ned Jarrett. B.P. Buddy Baker. i didnt start liking Stewart until he won his first Championship. i used to hate em. Now it sucks that Smoke is retiring . my guy already retired. wtf. Now the young man who i remember in the home depot car is now a seasoned Multi champ winner. i wouldnt mind seeing Smoooke get a 4th championship.

The 2000 Brickyard 400, the 7th running of the event, was a NASCAR Winston Cup Series race held on August 5, 2000 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana, and was the last time GMA Network covered the Brickyard 400, whose that year's race was won by Joe Gibbs Racing's Bobby Labonte. The 7th and final NASCAR on GMA race held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as part of the 20th Year of NASCAR Racing on Philippine Television was jointly produced by Television and Production Exponents, Inc. and SilverStar Communications, Inc. and aired live, nationwide, and via-satellite on GMA Network and Channel V Philippines Channel 27 on August 6, 2000 with a radio simulcast on Super Radyo DZBB 594 kHz and Campus Radio 97.1 WLS FM

Yeah thats what I meant by his downhill slide because of him owning his own team beginning in the early 90's. I know this was way past the downhill slide, when people made fun of him for relying on the "Champions Provisional" every week to get into the starting field. I love watching these older races because it's just the NASCAR that I grew up watching and learned everything about (born in 1991, started watching as a kid in the late 90's and early 2000's).

It’s mystifying, finished 2nd here in 1995, 2000, and 2002. Never won the Daytona 500. Was such a legendary driver but doesn’t have the monumental wins to back it up.
