2:40:47 One thing I always loved about Kenny Schrader was he would never wait for the damn ambulance. In 1999 at Sears Point (Sonoma), he slammed into the tires and did two flips. He was pulled out by his legs by a safety member and then walked over a mile to the garage😂
I love these raw feeds! You can clearly hear how Bob, Benny, John, Jerry and the rest of crew enjoy their job. They kept it professional but enjoyed their time working with each other. These are the sights and sounds all of its own and what kind hard work and dedication that goes on behind the live broadcasts of these races. Communication is key and coverage I thought was always excellent with the multiple angle shot and in car/onboard camera views. Today's broadcasts feels empty and not alot effort seems to be put into it. Especially when announcers are not explaining what the action is going on the track. There are even times where they miss a shot of an accident scene or they just clearly mention it but don't replay it as if it's not of importance. Miss those glory days of nascar racing it was a fun time to be a race fan then...
It’s actually so fun to listen to these guys bullshit like a group of friends in their living room waiting for the race to start. Man, I miss Benny and Bob SO much.
Jeff Gordon didn't give 2 shits in those days of NASCAR, he did whatever it took to win races, best driver since Earnhardt Sr none of the drivers of today are on his level, no not even Jimmie or Harvick.
It’s awesome to see how aggressive they all where in this era even at the first laps. Also how they could restart the whole field single file and they would all bunch up again. Bill France had the sport ironed out just like he wanted it
One fascinating note about this race, other than the fact that Jeff Gordon joined the 50-win club in this one. While not in the same order (though the winner was the same), the top four finishers in this race were the same top four from the prior year's Daytona 500. Jeff Gordon won both races, and the next three finishers were also the same in both races. In the 1999 Daytona 500, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. finished second, Kenny Irwin, Jr. was third, and Mike Skinner finished fourth. In this race, Skinner finished second, Dale, Sr. third, and Irwin fourth. Tragically, within ten months, both Dale, Sr. and Irwin, at the opposite ends of their respective careers, would lose their lives in very similar crashes (as would Adam Petty and Tony Roper), something that would eventually bring on the mandating of head-and-neck safety devices late in the 2001 season, and Irwin's crash would also result in the mandating of what's known as the "kill switch" to prevent, or at least reduce the risk of stuck throttles.
Interesting to hear the announcers when the network feed shifted from the track to NYC, starting @7:30, where they take a little break, then they prep with the topics and _copy_ aka _script_ of what's to be spoken of when they go back live. Interesting to hear Jenkins saying he was going to _cut copy_ as opposed to _talking faster._ That's something the current crop of NBC announcers could learn from.
I think it's just human nature to witness something spectacular like the "Big One" before your very eyes. It likely dates back to the chariot racing days when folks would roar after seeing a pileup.
Don’t know what caused this, but there seems to be a problem with how this video plays on certain devices. The audio and picture are hit or miss, never seeming to match (except for once in a blue moon). A shame, since this raw feed is fantastic.

That DuPont chevrolet was hell. My favorite driver, Mr. Jeff Gordon.

17:45 made me smile. RIP Benny and Bob.

These raw satellite feeds are awesome
Even dale earnhart had a point on why he hated restrictor plates on the car I thought his response was legendary
You're the man dude. These are incredible.
I really do miss the old a racing 😔
Man these races back then were intense. Too many damn rules nowadays.
Great video SMIFF TV. Thank you and Namaste

"In Stereo." :D
Dale definitely wouldn't care for superspeedways now days

This is from a C band satellite I am guessing, that's how I'd think this would have been possible in the past.
Maybe. Directv also carried some raw feeds if you had an access card that had been “fixed”.
7:45 Bill Weber roasting Jerry Punch
Skinner's best. Amazing he never won a Cup race
7:35 wait for it about 30 seconds later...
Someone Somewhere so 8:05
Then Return to Talladega for Winston 500
Listen to the crowd cheer when the Big One happens, they always seem to like it

Andretti was great at both of the Talladega races in 2000
Anybody know what the theme music is around 6:00 ?
3:48:48-3:49:47
Another question, do you have any qualifying sessions from any time periods?

How come there aren't any satellite feeds post 2000? What changed?
Hayden Martin had something to do with the new tv contracts in 2001
Bill France Jr. has ruined NASCAR. Sr. would be kicking his ass for the modern era changes.
nascar died with the rebel flag
nascar iz 💩
