My dad used to play this song in the car when we would go for late night drives. Watching the sky while listening to this song(not the exact same one a version of it) made me always wonder what's out there in the universe. I somehow link this song to extraterrestrial life and like looking out at the sky while I slip into a trance thinking about the unknown.

    • @sn8323

Yes, the herz frequencies awaken our DNA to resonate with our extra terrestrial origins (some of us anyway) :)

This more likely used to be a sound of supernatural manifestation. E.g. when one`s soul is about to leave for rejoining with Celestial. All real wonders are hidden within us, they are closer than one can usually think of. No need to reach for far away stars - they all drowse deep inside ourselves

Mike Oldfield originally recorded Tubular Bells in 1973 at the age of 19. The first album ever released by Virgin Records, it gave Virgin instant success selling millions of copies world wide. Today it's still recognized as one of the greatest musical achievements of our time.

@@snarskistomas There is so much music being released by so many different people at different levels of creativity and talent and hard work, most of it probably goes under the radar and will be revealed when the world decides it's ready. I don't understand why people like you constantly comment on music so generally. People from the generations of music before the 70s and 80s would probably say the same thing ABOUT those eras and of course they'd be wrong and everyone would see how they are just stuck reminiscing on better times, but no it makes you look like more of an OG to say the 70s, 80s, and 90s were just inherently better for "meaningful messages" which blatantly isn't true.

This was such an amazing experience listening to this song, I had tears in my eyes and was blown away by it. I kept asking myself where will he take me. He's a genius and it's a shame I haven't heard this song earlier. I know Mike Oldfield and loved moonlight shadow, pictures in the dark and shadow on wall etc. But this one I missed. I am so stunned and happy to have found it!

My dad was kind of a mentor to me in the music world. He would use to listen to this exact live version on the living room couch with a glass of whiskey. He did not know much about music but this song pleased him.
This song is a core memory of my relationship with my dad and really appreciate that. Its the reason why i listen music and will forever live with me. Much love to everyone and enjoy life 💌

In my opinion, Far Above the Clouds, when the Bells start to play, this is the most heavy "Drop" I have ever heard in my Life. It's so powerful and definite, like it was always meant to be this way. It's like I'm hearing God. I don't know how to say this.

Like most of the people here, my father’s refined musical taste allowed me to value the pristine beauty of Oldfield music. Many years later i am enjoying this while feeling out of this world..
Thank you dad, and glory to Mike he is truly one of a kind.
    p.s.
Does anyone knows the date/location of this live?

I have zero relation to this song via family (no family who listened to it when I was young), I myself was too young when the song was new, yet I absolutely love this music piece. I was introduced to it around 7-8 years ago, yet I still absolutely love it.

Michael Gordon "Mike" Oldfield (born 15 May 1953) is an English musician and composer. His work blends progressive rock with world, folk, classical, electronic, ambient, and new-age. He is best known for his 1973 album Tubular Bells - which launched Virgin Records and became a hit after its opening was used as the theme for the film The Exorcist

TB release May 1973 what an amazing time. Think about this for a moment 2024 as to 1973 is 1973 as to 1922 how amazing has the evolution been over the last 50 to 60 years been? So lucky to be alive. A big thanks to all the brilliant musicians and artists past and present 😊
