I was 11 when this was released. They released the last 7min for the radio. From that day on, this piece of music would guide my taste in music for the rest of my life.
I was 17 in 1973 & loved this music... I didn't care that it was used in a horror film (The Exorcist). I thought this was such an awesome, creative bit of music.... ♥
I was nine, my dad had a kick ass receiver/turntable, and this album. I was very careful handling the vinyl. I played side one often. I don't think dad cared, he liked to hear it too!
"Grand piano; reed and pipe organ; glockenspiel; bass guitar; double speed guitar; two slightly distorted guitars; mandolino; Spanish guitar and introducing acoustic guitar, plus... tubular bells!" I don't have words to describe this masterpiece!!!
Cap DAH There are other performances on You Tube that vary in style and quality. Do a search and check them out. If you like this one, there are many others you'll enjoy.
My final in painting class in college. I did an homage to his album cover using the metal puzzle pieces against a green felt pool table top. Took well over a hundred hours. I wonder if that canvas is still around somewhere.
This work of genius was recorded when he was just 20 years old.... Written when he was a teenager. (Pity the BBC director got bored and inserted random special effects)
@@kasperkjrsgaard1447 Yes, it really makes this mistake on side B... The side A is really a song called "Tubular Bells", and the side B isn't the second part of the same song! 😇
+Steven Dinh Actually Richard should thank Mike, he did not know anything about music when this album got recorded. He even had DOUBTS releasing it, tubular bells made virgin records. Feel free to look that up...
@@MichelLinschoten so true, my parents were good friends with Mike's PA in the 80s and Branson screwed Mike something rotten, without him Virgin would have failed within a couple of years.
Where can I find the bootleg chorus or nasal chorus (I forget which). My vinyl went in the garage sale when my marriage ended 25 years ago and I lost the house. It's not fair is it. I don't mind the house so much but I lost my vinyl due to temporary disorientations. Where the heck's those choruses ?

Si lo edita la bbc si en aquellos años las discográficas imponían severos derechos de radio la bbc se los saltaba si la composición no era idéntica al material de la discográfica
Remarkable! That is most of Henry Cow on that stage! And one part of the "company" is left out above: the incredible Viv Stanshall of Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band as the voice announcing the instruments. He was also on the album. Now for the geeky question: What brand guitar is Frith playing at 18:39? I can't seem to place it.
when you look how many people are playing here, but he did it all on the album ,wow

Hermosa Pieza ;)
This is really a song called "Tubular Bells" (side A from Oldfield's 1973 album), the side B is another thing!
You must be a wizard
@@isabellaandlogan7181 The Side B isn't "Tubular Bells" because no have "Tubular Bells" ! Just the side A is "Tubular Bells" !
@@igormaxwel6093
Will you call Mike Oldfield and tell him that he made a huge mistake back in ‘73?
He gave his song a wrong title.
🙄

I'd search for a 51kg traitor to this soundtrack
Hey....how old is this music?..........
This song is... 43 years old! Kinda hard to believe...
43?.....never "forget" it........
At 4:12 Mike Oldfield IS NOT playing the mandolin!!!
Do you have the second part of this?
No, there is no second part : only the first piece of the album "Tubular Bells" has been captured live at this BBC show !
That's sad and dumb from them in my Opinion, I really love this Live Version.
Home Of Vintage Technology hmm
a shame there's this light buzz in the backround
wait that sounds rude. thanks you for uploading! the song is great :)
This is not the 1973 version. What is this?
