As if this isn’t one big culture where everyone plays some type of influence on it. You will see some similarities across all HBCU band culture in general. It’s not sampling. And if you check SWAC history between the early 1930’s to late 1950’s Langston University was actually apart of the SWAC.....Also one their longest serving Band Director’s was a Grambling graduate. And now their current staff consists of PV/Langston/Southern graduates...Langston always had a Texas/Louisiana vibe to them so this isn’t new.
I was watching this thinking where are all the fans? It's homecoming why aren't they in the stands? A minute later I see they are out tailgating waiting for the band! Of course duh. I gave myself a facepalm.

That's a shame you really shouldn't say that. My college roommate came all the way from Australia to attend a HBCU. She said "This was the American dream she always saw when she came to America. When your a musician you want to play with the best. They are the nest bands, not the Ohio States, not the mainstream schools, the HBCU's". You should be honored people respect the culture enough to want to be apart of of it, not ridicule them. She used to say "They know you all's bands are the best and better than theres😂, they just don't want you all to know that"! Cut the guy a break, he did a his job.

Because at HBCUs for home coming, former band members are allowed to come back and march with the band. It is real common to see this; especially at FAMU!!!
