Getting old is a privilege that not everyone gets to appreciate. Support your Alumni.
I tell young people that all of the time. They call me old, I tell a lot of you will never get to be this old 😢, even though I pray that they outlive me by the 10th power of Infiniti .

It's a HBCU band alumni. HBCU is Historically Black College and University. They're alot of fun and honestly the highlight at football games ❤
@madreep Hands down they absolutely stomp the competitions when they face off against other bands from non-HBCU schools because they really know how to put on a show. Their moves are more about style, rythm, and attitude, while their counterparts rely more on military precision.
"Homecoming" is an elaborate cultural tradition in North America - there's a decent Wikipedia page on it - this is part of that celebration.

So youtube decided that today, I needed to learn: 1) what a homecoming is, 2) Langston is a University in Oklahoma, 3) Langston U is the westernmost HBCU and 4) my dancing skills are abysmal 😂
In my opinion the 'older' or 'seasoned' folks had a lot more pep in their step that the folks currently in the band! LOL I LOVED THE ENTIRE FUNK TRAIN!

We definitely had it back in the day!!!! The guys at the end had it going on with those moves!!!!
Enjoyed watching in amazement at how our people have changed.

I admire the alumni who came back to perform. I graduated from college in '86. If i had to do those moves now, I would have one of my grandkids meet me behind the camera at the end and rub my joints with Biofreeze cos Lord knows they would be sore.
Being a teenager is so difficult and I don’t know, just watching the unity here has me in tears. So good!
It us very difficult these days for teenagers, I'm 66yrs mature, and this is how my old. High School Band was, "BIG RED" is still known for Football in Ohio

From a former Tuba dog, ( to clarify, not this school) this was one of the best drummer funk cadence I've heard since the 80s. The routines for each section were great! A great idea!

I was on "The Yard" when Breaux and Brown Hall were there! Shout out to C-side, "The Village", The late moma Green, the cafeteria staff, Butch, Loves, Cigar Jones, The BSU, the old "wall", and Dean Austin apartments, etc 🙌🏾 😂❤😅🎉... It was truly a pleasure to have been a part of history on "The Hill". God bless all current, past, and transitioned LU family members 🙏🏾 ☺️

I love it…loved that they allowed previous members to come back and show out. One of the biggest bands I’ve ever seen at the HBCU! Wonderful..

My son loved Marching Band and I loved being a parent booster and helper to their band. These students bond so much with each other and with other bands. They work really hard and deserve to be showcased. All the practice and hard work they have put in during high school and now at university is incredible and takes dedication. Sometimes the best part of a football game is the band.
I am blown away by how many alumni are happily participating!! This is outstanding!! That’s true reciprocated support and respect. Homecomings like this are just so fun to watch. You can feel the camaraderie as well as see it.

Man, I love stuff like this. I did drum corps in high school and two of my kids did marching band (snare & bari sax). Fun to watch the kids, but definitely fun to watch the adults too. And big ups to the drum line for hanging in there with as much energy at the end as at the beginning!
I am a 61 year old southern white woman who thought that was absolutely awesome! I loved seeing all the alumni coming out to perform with the band. Kudos to y'all!

She SIMPLY let us know that you do not have to be African American to enjoy a good ole fashion perform by a Black school! They performed wonderfully and she, like most of us, enjoyed it!

I’m a native New Orleanian and the daughter of a Dixieland Jazz musician. I can guarantee you that some of the best performances of high school marching bands (I.e. St Aug Marching 100, Warren Easton, etc) are during Mardi Gras parades while they’re awaiting parade lineup. Anyone who’s been to Mardi Gras parades can attest to the fact that parades can stop and even stall for any number of reasons. These amazing musicians use that time to entertain parade goers with impromptu performances that are priceless.

Thank you, I needed this video! I played for just over ten years of my life starting at 9. After HS and death of my older mentors (drum director, teachers, snare line director, cg captain, etc) I fell FAR away. I think I felt and let out what I needed watching this video! I’ve never seen anything like this before but watched and loved every second. I love how so many alumni participated in addition to all the others. So fun to watch and they had me chair dancing over here.

That is a HUGE band! How great to see so many students involved in music and band! Not sure who the band director(s) are but kudos to them, all the students, parents, and community for an AMAZING group of kids!
