During the single-player campaign, the player controls six different characters from a first-person perspective over six different chapters. Unlike previous campaigns in the series, Battlefield 1's single-player story mode is composed of six separate "War Stories", each shown through the eyes of separate allied soldiers from different nationalities, "Storm of Steel" - the prologue of the game which is set in France through the eyes of several Harlem Hellfighters, "Through Mud and Blood" - set in France though the eyes of a British tank driver, "Friends in High Places" - France and the UK as a Royal Flying Corps fighter pilot, "Avanti Savoia" - Italy as a mournful survivor and member of the Arditi, "The Runner" - the Gallipoli Peninsula (the European half of Turkey) through an ANZAC runner, and "Nothing is Written" - set in Kingdom of Hejaz through the eyes of a Bedouin warrior under the command of Lawrence of Arabia.

Battlefield is more realistic than Battlefield 5, and it has a ton of weapons you shouldn't even be seeing in the game because of how rare they are IRL.

It isn't very realistic IMO. Soldiers with flamethrowers are hard to kill, and certain rare guns are common everywhere. Also because so many have foregrips for no reason too. It also had you basically play as a soldier from every country except Germany.

@@blankabb1289 Even though nobody in that war could be called the bad guys. Well, maybe Turkey/the Ottoman Empire.
In the multiplayer you do play as Germany and all of the Central Powers. But in the campaign it might be considered to be bad because, Germany and the Central Powers are considered to be the bad side because they lost.

The series went bad when ghosts came out and hasnt been better. now the older modern warfares and black ops? those will never be dethroned. they are the golden age of gaming. but yes bf1 is better than the call of dutys from ghosts to present day. although cold war looks like something promising.
