Battlefield 1 is a first-person shooter video game developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts. It is the fourteenth installment in the Battlefield franchise, the first main entry in the series since Battlefield 4, and the first World War I video game published by Electronic Arts since 1994. The game is scheduled to be released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide on October 21, 2016.
Battlefield 1's multiplayer features six distinct classes:
Assault Class: The primary anti-vehicle class. Assault players have SMG's and automatic rifles at their disposal. Medic Class: The Medic class is primarily focused on reviving fellow teammates, healing them, and repairing their vehicles. The primary weapons in this class are semi-automatic rifles. Support Class: Supports have light-machine guns at their disposal. They also contribute to the team by replenishing their fellow team-mates' ammo. Scout Class: Scouts use sniper rifles. The class contributes to the team by spotting enemies, and by firing the flare gun, which places nearby enemies in the vicinity on the mini-map. Tanker Class: Players choosing to spawn into a tank will now automatically spawn as the tanker class. The class is new to the series, and features a hammer that can repair vehicles. Pilot Class: Players who spawn into a plane will now automatically spawn as the pilot class.

The intro to the first campaign is actually horrifying.
I did not expect this from a Battlefield game. All their campaigns have been okay, but this one looks amazing. I'm for sure going to pick this one up soon.

Brad needs to realize that this is more than a game, it's a story that is true. The "intro" is supposed to give you a feeling of what it was like going to war in the early 20th century, and how much life was lost. Countless 18 year olds being sent to fight, unbeknownst to them that their government didn't expect them to survive. Boys, dying at war; so young that they haven't even become men. Out of respect for those who fell and faught during this time, be silent and think of those families, those men, those boys. Imagine being a boy who is sent to war at only 18, and watches his friends die right next to him but survives to come home a completely different person; changed forever, scarred. Please show respect and remember these men, and so many boys. Imagine how fast they had to grow up, without a choice. This game depicts the fate of many, real people. I want to thank those of you who realise that.

I love how you get to play as the Harlem Hellfighters. They were the most decorated regiment in the whole war if I remember correctly, and they had a band. Their band leader, James Reese Europe, was the first black man to ever be granted a public funeral in New York City and is buried in Arlington.

I'm so emotional about this game intro. Two of my uncles narrowly escaped death in WW1. My Great Great uncle Harry served in the airforce and the navigator was shot while taking fire (I think he was the gunner, not too sure). They got out by, I believe losing the plane that they were fighting (idk though).
And my Great Great Uncle Mathew was in the Western Front. He was bombarded by artillery fire and a piece of shrapnel lodged itself in his skull. He got "shell shock". In reality it was PTSD and brain damage from the shrapnel that was never properly removed. It's really sad to think of all the people that, unlike my relatives didn't even make it home.

The blame can be shelved mostly on Germany, but you can also throw some of the blame on Russia. Originally the war was gonna be contained between Austria-Hungary and Serbia, with support from Germany but Russia backed Serbia before hostilities broke out. Russia actually had no standing treaty with Serbia, but because of ethnic reasons they allied themselves with the Slavic cause and mobilized their armies in preparation for war. France backed Russia because treaties, and the only reason Britain got involved is because Germany choose to violate neutrality of Belgium all because they had a war plan that dictated the violation of a neutral country. Britain, for all intents and purposes, had a handshake deal with France, but they had a lasting treaty that was around 70+ (I think after the Napoleonic wars were over) years old to defend Belgium against any aggressor.

Watching this in 2019 makes me realize how horrifying war really is. I mean u hear about it a lot in history class, but to actually witness a virtual version makes my stomach sick. I actually cried for a solid minute looking at how unpredictable war is. Plus, watching it on the 4th of July didn’t help stop the tears! I have a much greater understanding of what went down and I am deeply greatful for all of the soldiers that risked their lives in the war. Much love goes out to every single one of those families, from the bottom of my heart!!

Honestly I feel like WW1 was so much more brutal for the soldiers since they had fight in disease filled trenches, beat the living hell out of their enemies so they can go back to their family, and overall it was such a terrible situation in general

There is a description by a soldier I read that talks about how he at 18 was walking amongst the destroyed landscape with his unit, and how each little crater (formed by a mortar) had little pools of tainted bloody water, filled with various human limbs, blood, a sickly greenish yellow chemical (from a prior chemical weapon attack).... he described it as being like the surface of some other world. Hard to even imagine what these kids went through.
Believe it or not, WW2 had far more causalities and death than the first.

It makes it even sadder is when you die your death date and age pops up and I felt really bad for the teenagers who fought
It's really crazy because if you search up these names these guys are actually real they spent a lot of time making this game and those are the actual guns the people used and there positions they were out in. It is interesting to see how long it must have took the. To add in all these characters and what they did and how they died
They were actually prototypes mostly rifles and snipers but I agree it must of took a while

What he's saying is the names used in the game are names of people who helped create the game, as you are not allowed go just go and use real names. Laurence of Arabia was a fictional name as well, it's just commonly used. With all the detail to every single part of every single map, i can't even imagine the work that was put into this game.

Next to it is a board that reaches as high as the ceiling with the names of all the students who died on the western front engraved on it. I respect them all and their families as should everyone else.

13:24 you can see them blink and it’s a great visual cue that the “madness of war” has left them and they recover their humanity and see each other not as enemies but as just men on opposite sides and no longer need to kill each other.
Battlefield campaign is just a version of tutorial for new player start the multiplayer (like how to fire, control a vehical, .....) but they put lots of story in there too, very creative actually, like the first level where you take part in many soldiers and then there's 2 left on the battlefield
It's not like a tutorial, the vehicles handle completely different and you can stealth through half the campaign if you want.
so bf is all about multiplayer all the time huh ?

I love this game because it shows the reality behind the war and not the lies that everyone was told back then
